Something Awful reviewed "Let’s Meow Meow"

I’d thought for sure that it was going to earn a lower rating than that.
Either way, I’m just glad on somethingawful’s front page they advertise J-List, any big site advertisers can’t be bad…Or maybe I’m just being optimistic.
I wonder if SomethingAwful’s “coverage” of H-games encourages or discourages sales…I mean, there’s a lot of clueless people out there that take those reviews seriously, as frightening as that is. At the very least, it promotes the image that all these games have no value beyond the “cartoon porn” aspect. I’d say that even the majority of the sex-fest games are a cut above your average American porn flick, as far as sophistication goes. At least H-games invariably include some degree of characterization…

or rather, it promotes the view that the games SHOULDN’T have anything other than pointless sex, as ISTR the brave soul review getting all fed up that he had to PLAY and wasn’t faced with Teh Sex0r within ten minutes of launching the game. Still, any publicity is generally better than no publicity!

Not necessarily. If the reviews turns off people that otherwise might have considered trying the genre for themselves (having discovered the games through a difference source), then sales could actually be decreased. Counterbalancing this tendency is the fact that the site lets people know that the games even exist, and it links to a place where the games may be bought. That, of course, is always good.
I like to think that some of the somethingawful fans(myself included) or entertained enough by the reviews to actually go buy a few and get there own opinions on them. Wishful thinking I suppose, but you might as well try and think the best of any situation.
I prefer to avoid deluding myself.
Hey, some of us did get our start in all this thanks to Something Awful. Like me.
SomethingAwful brings a lot of new fans into b-games. You have to make sure you don’t take the reviews too seriously, since (most) others don’t. Actually Zack is a big b-game fan.
The Let’s Meow Meow review is pretty funny, in my opinion.

Haha, yeah. That was very funny. Zack certainly is creative, and he has quite a way of using words. I can only hope that he does a few more reviews soon, as the most recent ones are getting further and further apart.
