SOPA/Protect IP, the end all of online entertainment?

I’ve been hearing about this bill and it certainly sounds pretty bad:

So anyone here got anything to say about it? Is it really as bad as it sounds? What are it’s chances of being passed?

On Protect IP… the bill is in a Senate hold, which means it’s pretty much in limbo and may end up just being forgotten.

On the SOPA bill… it’s considered incredibly too vague and infringes on freedom of speech. The courts will abolish it once someone puts in a lawsuit.

Also considering the economic firestorms – namely the recent Super Committee failure – I don’t think these bills are on the Congress radar for now.

SOPA is so bad that the BSA just came out against it. Yes, the same BSA whose whole purpose for existence is cracking down on people who pirate business software.

In other words, it’s dead, it’s gone, it’s just not quite buried yet. It’s zombie legislation … and it’s not even Halloween anymore!

I hope it’s on the road to dying, but I wouldn’t underestimate the ability of Congress to pass truly idiotic legislation regarding the Internet, especially when supported by a lot of big businesses. Sadly, it will probably be another 20 years at least before the majority of legislators have any idea what they’re doing regarding computer and internet issues.

Thankfully, it’s opposed by a lot of bigger businesses.

It looks like SOPA’s going to be passed after all:

and how did you get that from the article? It’s got no chance of getting through the Senate.

Never mind  :

Well, megaupload’s dead and now anonymous retaliates:

This should be fun to watch

I wonder if any of you guys joined the anti SOPA - PIPA movements, such as this one americancensorship.org .
