With STARLESS confirmed and no word about censorship (noticeably theirs a message about the Nitro+ games) can we get official word from JAST?
With topics like bestiality I’m guessing it’ll be censored for legal reasons: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zoosexuality_and_the_law#National_laws

Despite the close proximity between STARLESS’ release and now, I seriously doubt JAST would have licensed the game if they were going to adjust content, since this sort of thing is exactly what STARLESS is all about.

Seinarukana will probably be fine as it exhibits none of the issues that caused JAST to avoid the original release of Eien no Aselia and is pretty tame as far as eroge go.

To be honest i think we’ll get some titles quicker then that.

Saya, kikokugai and Hanachirasu already have completed fan translations, so they’ll be similar to President (that’s supposed to be out next month, so roughly 4 months to release). We’ll probably get them by the end of the year.
Sumaga (84%) and Seinarukana (25%) are being fan translated so we wont have that long a wait on them. Sumaga we’ll probably get by the end of the year, but Seinarukana i’m estimating 2012.

That’s more than half the new list right there.

Everything else on the backlog (bar STARLESS, Django and School Days HQ) is in testing or such, they posted an estimated release list on twitter and all bar the 3 mentioned should be out by December, if not early next year.

Actually, Hanachirasu isn’t 100% translated. The minigame that unlocks after you’ve seen the voiced version of Kaigen Ishima’s speech is entirely in Japanese, even in the revised patch, so there’s still a bit of translation work left to be done.

I can guarantee that Starless will be banned in Canada, so fellow Canadians might want to opt for a download edition if they want to pick it up (personally, it doesn’t seem like my cup of tea, but I figured I’d give a heads-up anyway).

But yes, I am rather surprised that Starless was licensed, given what I’ve heard about the content.

Ignosco theorised that the game was licensed before it was released, and JAST USA (like pretty much everyone else) had no idea what the full game would have in store- a lot of people were surprised by the end product. I don’t know if I believe that, but it’s certainly worth pondering.

Now that you mention it, I’m kinda surprised that the Night Shift Nurses games haven’t been licensed. Seeing as they spawned one of the longest-running adult anime series in existence, the franchise is every bit as iconic in America as Bible Black, Kite, Mezzo Forte, La Blue Girl, or Urotsukidoji. It doesn’t hurt that the artwork is gorgeous (though what that art depicts might be the very reason that the series may never come to America). I see it as a more worthwhile gamble than, say, Starless.

Starless cannot be legally sold in the states with bestiality, if it could be then you would see bestiality being made and sold in the states like any other fetish but its clearly defined as illegal to be bought and sold in the USA. Owning it and the actually act of bestiality are NOT illegal in all states BUT the sale of it is.

If Jast USA decided to sell it then they can face criminal charges for selling obscene material which bestiality falls under. Why risk it?

Presumptions? Code 1469 means that if there is any hint that the material was made somewhere else, be it direct evidence or even circumstantial evidence, then the courts will immediately assume it was transported and therefore violated Code 1462 as well.

There’s an ending where there’s an actual gender bend though.

It’s a bad end where the protagonist gets it on with Makoto. (after Makoto has been given regular female hormone injections.) So there is an actual gender bend in the game, it’s just like 0.05% of the story.

Short answer? No.

Long answer? People and businesses have plea bargained for relatively equal charges. The FBI and/or another federal institution prosecutes these cases. They have, for all practical intents and purposes: unlimited funding, unlimited manpower, and unlimited legal expertise (your tax dollar at work). No small company, and certainly no average citizen, can pay for the years that fighting a long term legal battle will entail. Furthermore, because it’s a federal case, there’s no privacy: your name, your social life, your history… everything is up for media attention. People can lose their jobs and friends if a seriously “embarrassing” personal fetish is publically revealed. The government knows this, and uses it to their advantage (incidently, so do corporations when they want to screw over the little guy). They don’t have to win a case, if they can outlast the defendant. That’s why none of the innocent people who’ve been charged with owning deviant manga or pornography, never go all the way to the Supreme Court… they can’t afford it, socially or financially.

Justice may be blind, be she sure ain’t cheap. It’s one of the greatest flaws in the American legal system. I mean, think about it, you’re innocent until proven guilty, but in many cases you have to pay money (i.e. bail) to not rot in a cell as an innocent person. :roll:

I was wondering if their was any news on this title in regards to a release date estimate or how much is translated has I am very excited & eager to pick this up to finally play Starless translated & uncensored and also if your planing on doing any special packaged version with a poster or mini art book?

Also is the any news along with the factor of the legality of having to cut content i.e bestiality, I would find it disappointing if they take elements out has it plays a intrinsic part of the story and would lead to loop holes and gaps int the story ruining Empress master piece and erotic artistic integrity for Sei Shojou work.

I am looking forward to this title immensely so can’t wait to hear some more news regarding this title and so to the team working on it keep up your hard work and Thank You.
