Suggestion for bishoujo anime section of website

i was looking through your anime section (great selection, by the way…more money down the toilet for me ) and it occurred to me that it would be much easier to navigate if the series titles could be summed up with each series having a separate page for all its tapes/DVDs, kind of like Animenation does it…it seems very cluttered the way it is now

what do you think?

I do have a suggestion: is there a way that you could “jump” to certain page of the catalogue, instead of going through all the DVDs? That is, if I wish to check Pia Carrot, I don’t have to click next like five times.

A textlist with all the stuff in this section woud be god , and when you are interrestet in something you just have to hit the name of it and a detail site will open.

a good site should take no longer than 1 min to load on a 56k so long as the text appears within 30 sec it’d be alright I for one used to have a 56k modem i didn’t care how loke the page loads in tems of gfx an stuff just as long as the text an links take no more than 30 secs to appear on screen u’d be alright gfx is the last thing i’d worry bout for a page if a description is good i’ll stick around if not i bodge off elswhere

at my college it takes 5-30min to load any page cept 4 pre 9am an after 5pm in the day (there 2mbit line sux my 14.4k goes quicker)

In Netscape 4.78 (on Windows XP Pro), the page didn't render until almost all graphic elements were downloaded. It took circa 30 seconds, too long, IMO, but, I guess the Netscape engine should take the blame of it.

In Netscape 6.2.1 (again, on Windows XP Pro), the page rendered around the third second after the products link was pressed, but the graphics took a bit to load. (Well, remember, this is 56K).

As for the design of the page, again, I don't like the fact that I have to press several "Next" in order to check for an item. Oh, the fact that, after pressing "Next" you had to confirm that security info warning didn't help either.

fxho: why dont u use something like opera?? it’s PDQ at opening pages and has a download manager built-in eg lets u have more than 2 d/l’s at a time an it resumes

BTW this “security info warning” where u get it?? i ave no warnings appear

TH

Because, I don’t like Opera’s interface. For instance, last time I checked Opera, it didn’t use CTRL or ALT key combinations for, say, opening link. Sorry about that, but I wished I liked it, as performance-wise, is somewhat better than IE and Netscape. Of course, I will give it another chance, eventually. (as for the download manager, I know that I don’t download that many files, anyway. CP demon, anyone? ^_^)

As for the security warning, is the same security warning you get when you fill a form (say, when you reply a post). Probably you have disabled it (unchecked the “Show this alert next time”).

BTW, assuming that you use Opera, could you tell us, please, the loading time of the pages with Opera, for comparison purposes?

yeah i use opera works better an faster thean IE an netscape IMO

Opera now uses the ctrl and alt keys nuf bout that.

product pages time wise speeds averaging roun 3-9kb using opera an 512k dsl(i have a download going @ 57kb/s)

games pg1 7 secs for text/bg further 6 sec for images

dvd pg1-what ever the last page is all took 10 sec to load everythin @13KB/s

manga pg's took 10 sec @13KB/s

Merchandise pg's took 15 sec to load everythin @5.2KB/s

add 5 secs approx. to time with IE 6 to lookup hostnames an stuffs

i'd say that took too long to load 4 my liking however i am downloadin @ 57k an uploadin at 9k if d/l's an u/l's weren't goin all times would be round the 5 sec mark

I checked again, this time using Opera 6.01, under Windows98 (just for sake of testing). Unfortunately, the results aren’t that differente from the numbers above posted with Netscape 4.78 and Netscape 6.2.1. And unlike Netscape 6.2.1, the text didn’t appear until the very end of the rendering. Sorry, I guess the webmaster will have to do some homework!

TraitorHunter-san, thanks for recommending me Opera, again, but, no thanks, for now…

i know someone who is looking for work to do he may be my older bro but i wouldn't recommend him (can be slow at working if no tight deadlines are set) tho he is a v.good webmaster an runnin his own web/mail/irc servers an generates rev. for it if u need a full time webmaster u could have a word with him or want to check out his stuffs check out http://www.digital-euphoria.net/ and http://www.animeasy.net/ these are his sites first is the buissnes bit other is a network site shows some of the site he hosts (inc mine dkcorp incomplete) he has no job now.

wanna think it over?

The security warning is one of those little windows that pops out, and everybody just hurries to uncheck it...

Whenever you have a page with a form, using post method (IIRC, get method works the same), you must send the information in order for the server to render the next page. Just like when you press "submit reply" if you are replying this or other message, you must send that info to the server. But, before doing so, the browser warns you what you are about to do. I am referring to THAT security warning.

i really like the way you have set up the anime page…it is much easier to navigate through…

i do see what you are saying about wanting to attract people with pictures though…perhaps you could resize the thumbnail pictures to fit in the small space beside each entry? that way there’d be a pic, even if it’s small…i find that people will click an interesting little picture just as much as a large one
