A few months ago, I asked the good people of this BBS if they would be willing participants of a survey on gaming (both Bishoujo and non-Bishoujo), purchase habits and other demographic data, there was a good deal of enthusiastic response. Since then, I’ve drawn up a set of questions, and sent them to gamers I know very well as the first wave, or pilot, survey. From those set of results I shall draw up the second set of questions for the survey. Now, I would like to invite everyone on the BBS to participate in this survey, those who are willing. The purpose of the survey is to advise Peach Princess based upon empirical data rather than baseless assumptions of the current Bishoujo gaming audience. I also have Peach Princess to thank for giving me much help in proofreading the survey questions. It shall be completely anonymous, but to ensure that no one take the survey more than once, survey codes will be given to each individual who would like to participate in this survey. Interested individuals should send a short email with subject: Bishoujo gaming survey.

In addition, help me spread the word about the survey, the larger the sample size is, the more empirical data there is to work from.

Errr… Maybe you should give a little more details… Where to go, if it’s done via a webpage, or whom to mail to…?

Hi everyone, just wanted to keep you updated on the surveys. So far, I’ve only posted information on the Bishoujo Gaming Survey on two different BBS’s, that of Peach Princess and Himeya, and Mike has been very kind in his offer to disseminate the word on the surveys on the Tenshi mailing list, but I have gotten only a very small handful of people who’ve replied to my solicitation, nowhere near the number of regulars who post on this BBS. Bishoujo Gaming Survey
The survey will be completely anonymous, it is an independent research on gaming habits, interests, and demographic data. Each participant will be given a unique survey code. The results of the surveys will be collected in order to advise Peach Princess, you will get no junk mail of any kind, and each individual will be free to inspect the findings and conclusions drawn from the survey.

Please help me spread the word on this survey. You may copy and post anything that I’ve posted in this topic on other mailing lists and BBS’s, in that way I may reach interviewees otherwise unreachable through Himeya, Peach Princess, or Tenshi-tachi. Or, please tell your Bishoujo gaming friends about it.

What about posting info about it on the current topic of bishoujo games at Megatokyo? You might get another whole set of replies from it there.

Well, theys ay in their FAQ thay they ARE, "friendly" when it comes to bishoujo games, but every time a topic where bishoujo games with "adult content" are disucssed appears, they act, in fact, rather unfriendly or simply ignores the whole thing...

But that doesn't mean that there isn't people who have a more positive way of thinking when it comes to bishoujo games on MT's boards.

Surveys go live today! Those who haven’t signed up for it, please do so as soon as possible. In order to reduce the variability I need to have the survey results within a specified time frame, so I can’t have too many ‘walk-ins’. All participants currently signed up for the survey will get a complete set of instructions on how to complete the survey as well as the completed fourth revision that you fill out.

I’ve been getting a few more participants walking in to the survey, asking me if it is ok to still take the survey. The answer is yes, I still welcome survey participants, the tentative due date for all surveys is 26 Jan 2002, so new participants are welcome before that date. HOWEVER, I don’t always check my email on a weekend hence there is no guarantee that I can actually send surveys if I receive an email after Thursday. So, please get in touch with me as soon as possible if you are interested in participating in the survey. Thanks to all who have completed their survey and gotten it back to me in a timely fashion :slight_smile:

I’ve decided not to rush the conclusion of this survey, with the hectic schedule that I’ve had to meet with real life deadlines and I’m having my hands quite full playing surrogate parents for my two sisters. I think the survey could benefit if I finish the reading material and notes I gathered from my friend who took the class on Sexuality in Japan, and I understand a lot of people would like to see the collected data and simple statistics without conclusions, but that is one of the greater evils of Sociology that I’m trying to avoid, drawing baseless conclusions reinforced more or less by one’s misconceptions. I hope everyone will be patient me for a little while longer, I’m also going to Japan to study Japanese as well as meet the people and observe the society.
