The merger of two mom and pop stores in a small town - even if they’re the only mom and pop stores in that town - does not constitute antitrust. In both the arena of gaming and pornography, are mom and pop. They wouldn’t make the top 100 list of either, and clearly aren’t in a position to “crush” the competition, seeing how there’s no competition to begin with. If EA or Hustler wanted to enter the Western eroge market, with a theoretical JAST MangaGamer dominating it at the time of that entry, they clearly could… the size of their capital makes it highly unlikely they could be stopped or even slowed.

The only way I could see it being antitrust is if a single Western eroge distributor had exclusive import licensing over 70% of every Japanese eroge game ever made. JAST and MangaGamer combined, make less than 1% of the stuff that you could secure translation rights for. As much as I love the idea of them releasing 70% of all Japanese eroge under their name, I doubt it will ever happen. :stuck_out_tongue:

EA huh? I’m not too sure that would entirely be a good thing, considering that when EA enters the picture they tend to… [color=red]ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL[/color]!!! :wink:

It says…3 major announcements, hopefully one will be Demonbane is gold, and hopefully another is a new liscense and… I dunno what #3 will be…

I don’t think they would post on December 3rd that they have a big announcement that Demonbane is going gold later in that month. I suspect it would still be in limbo as it was all of Summer and Fall at least up until December 3rd. Things may have changed since the third, but I bet their December announcement is something else.

I didn’t expect My Girlfriend is the President to be licensed. JAST USA/Peach Princess has not previously worked with the company Alcot, and most of the games that it licenses aren’t quite as silly. But then again, I didn’t expect JAST USA to partner with Nitroplus, or join forces with TLWiki on games which they had been striving to translate…

From what I hear, My Girlfriend is the President is a fairly short VN, and TLWiki had translated the majority of its content. Since it sounds like much of their work will be used in the final product, then hopefully it should be available for retail release in the near future.

Also, I looked at Alcot’s other VNs. Some of them sound serious, though Real Imouto ga Iru Ooizumi-kun no Baai approaches the same level of absurdity. AFAIK, none of Alcot’s products have console ports without adult content.

Huh. Not really my usual kind of game, but the concept made me snicker enough that I probably have to get that.

… I may then whine about it on sexism grounds depending on how the comedy plays out, but… :slight_smile:

They’re not mutually exclusive, you can do both.

As for Alcot, their artwork is really nice. Don’t know much about the quality of the writing in any of their stuff, but access to a new brand is always good.

ALcot licensing would logically open up the door to minor masterpieces such as Clover Heart’s and Shinigami no Seppun.
Of course, having the license doesn’t necessarily mean everything. I note JAST hasn’t licensed Ayakashibito yet!

Alcot’s a nice catch. I’m not huge on moe comedy, but I’ll check out “My Girlfriend is the President”. Some of their other titles would probably interest me more. I played through a bit of Triptych a while back. It wasn’t bad, but the story plays out in linear chapters and I hated the first heroine, so I never got very far.

In any case, Alcot titles should fill the “sex with story” niche rather nicely.

My initial reaction was to controlled-F twin on the wiki page for that. I guess I’ll hope they will drop that thermonuclear bomb as well given your comment.

Steins; Gate would be what I want most. I can’t honestly guess it would be one of the next two announcements, so I’ll just hope for it regardless.

Nevermind Yosuga no Sora, go with Natsu no Ame, the other CUFFS incestge to be released in the past couple of years and the one without a mile long list of story flaws. Although Sora herself is pretty difficult to match…

EDIT: Actually, I’ve got a better idea; if we’re going with CUFFS, license Garden, with one of the conditions of the license being that CUFFS finish the damn game.
