Vanillia Series

I’d like to know one thing: I don’t know how many animes which are a part of the Vanillia series, but regardless of how many parts of the Vanillia Series there is, I’d like to knmow if ALL of the animes in the Vanillia Series are based on adult bishoujo games???

I had asked about the Vanilla series a while ago and found a site that lists the videos in the series:

http://www.jvd.ne.jp/vanilla/list_top.html

Site is Japanese only; but from the covers shown, I can see Kiss Yori, Bondage House, MeiKing, Gibo and Dokusen. I also saw that Co-ed and Office Affairs were part of this series as well. I saw a cover that look like I have seen it brfore: girl is flashing her breasts and is wearing red and yellow striped bikini bottom.
Maybe someone who reads Japanese can tell us what the titles are so we have an idea what we may be seeing soon.

Ok, thank you both! Very interesting, this about the Vanilla Series…

And when I saw the list, I saw quite a few animes tha tlooks interesting (especially those with the angels, and the Dokusen anime of course).
Hmm, since you said that Right Stuf is the ones who’re releasing the Vanilla Series here in the west, do you think that if I made a request on their boards to release the Dokusen anime in english, would they listen?

The Vanilla series began with the "Kiss Yori..." OVAs, and was created by Japan Video Distribution (JVD). That was about 2 years ago. However, when Media Blasters licensed Kiss Yori... they did not promote it as part of the Vanilla series, nor did they mention that it is adapted from a very popular bishoujo game, nor did they even release it subtitled. In fact, Dave E complained to them at Project A-Kon the year that they announced its release, and they claimed that they very seldom had anyone asking for subtitled adult anime. (who are they talking to? that was the question that went through his head...)

Over the past 2 years or so, the Vanilla series has continued. To our knowledge, every title in the series is an OVA version of various bishoujo games. Will's Ruf label has a title released under the Vanilla series, and of course both Gibo and Dokusen are part of it.

Is Angel Blade a game? I know Masami Obari(sp?) of Fatal Fury fame is doing the character designs. I seen a Quicktime trailer and it didn't look that good (I'm not an Obari fan).

... Kumiko isn't a big fan of his, either, but he did a great job on Voogie's Angels! For Angel Blade, it seems he is adapting someone else's designs - he doesn't normally make his women quite THAT overendowed...

By the way, it's nice to know where they moved the Vanilla release list to, as well. They had it under its own page, originally.

Also note that even though these shows get very hardcore, they are sometimes consider 17+ (our "Mature" or "R-rated" level.) For some reason, we don't see anyone being very negatively affected by these adult anime, you know?

That's surprising. If something like this was tried here, the company would be sued in to the ground.

Speaking of the Vanilla Series, The Meiking Volume 1/2 DVD is going to be released in May. How many volumes are in this series?
