Borrowed 3 Methods from a friend this morning. As you said, games does not operate in a native 64-bit environment. Seems that they compiled the program in native 32-bit. I’m confident the program could run on a 64-bit if they fixed that, but seeing how that’s beyond anyone without the source code to pull off…
-
Installed the program on Win7 XP Mode. Program does not work. Culprit appears to be the XP Mode interface for Win7.
-
Installed the program on Virtual PC 2007 SP1 (x64 version). Works, but with serious performance issues. Blue screens at random.
-
Installed the program on VMWare Server 2 (version 2.0.2). Runs perfectly.
-
Ported Virtual PC 2007 SP1 image to VMWare Server 2 using the official conversion tools. Environment demonstrates blue screen issues.
What doesn’t make sense: Virtual PC and VMWare emulate the same hardware specs. If it works on one, it should work on the other. Need to examine and experiment with the default configuration files to determine what’s going on. I think it’s something that VPC does during installation. Will continue on Friday or Saturday. After getting it to work under Virtual PC 2007 SP1, I can then port the image into XP Mode, and determine if it’s possible or ultimately was a waste of time. If it does work, I can reconstruct the differences, then make instructions on how to work it that way without using conversion tools.
