What's going on!?

Hello, members of PeaPri BBS.

What is going on here?
This is the first time I’ve been on PeaPri BBS after 2 days with no new post. What’s going on?
Is it possible that this is somehow connected to Kumiko’s absence!? Don’t tell me you guys (no offence to the girls ) only post messages because of Kumiko!?

Anyway this is just an off topic to get new discussions. Anyhow, I’ll just ramble on I’m planning to the the Japanese DVD of Parade2x and Trouble Evocation however, I’m kinda worried about the ending of Trouble Evocation so m thinking first.
I’ve also been meaning to get Machine Maiden game as well but H-Gurl mentioned that it is hard to get the good ending so I’m thinking again

Oh yeach, PeaPri has also listed the trading card for LMM and Snow Drop wallscroll for sale!!! Have you ordered it? I already order the wallscroll but not the trading card (never thought of what to use with the cards ) Also be prepared for some great adult anime and game bishojo releases. It’s gonna be a tight budget this month.

Sorry for the rants, just thought I post message at the BBS.

Kaiser, you do know that Parade Parade is being offered domestically.

Hi, Doug.

I knew that but the DVD cost the same as 2 tapes that MediaBlaster will release.
Besides I hate dubs on adult anime, they never turn out well

I despise dubs as well, I think I can count on one hand all the good dubs I've seen.

God, it still amazes me how people can stand watching things dubbed. Especially in anime since it is done horribly. So much of the connotation and feeling is lost when it is dubbed.

Hi, Doug and FeistyGuy.

I personally got a 50-50 rating on dub. Some dub are very well done e.g.Evangelion,Tenchi Muyo and they are cheaper. However, if the price is the same then I’ll go for the sub (except if the dub is very well done like the example I gave)

However, I’ve never seen an adult anime being dubbed nicely. I think the reason they dub it in the first place is to attract people since the dialog is in English (people get more stimulated )

KaiserFire-san,

I totally disagree with you on the Tenchi Muyo. Frankly, I could not stand the dubbing of Tenchi and Ayeka. The guy who did Tenchi’s voice had a monotone and sounded like an asexual pseudopod, which frankly he was not. Each time I see it on the Cartoon Network I have to turn it off or switch channels b/c I can’t stand the dubbing.
I’m not sure about Evangelion since I have not seen it dubbed.
Anyway, this is just my two cents.

The chinese dub for CCS,Gundam W and SlamDunk (A few of the animes they had decided to relese on National Telly here, rare since everyone can get their shares of anime on VCD here quite cheaply for US$5 a piece or US$50 a entire series, like Kenshin.) by Taiwanese aren’t too bad.I don’t know about your case, but I heard complains that CCS was dubbed horribly and people who had watch the original Gundam W had complain about the English Dub.

Regarding English Dub anime,we had our share here, they shown Dual,Slayers and Kenshin English Dubbed version on another channel,I was OK with the Dub for Slayers and Dual but was kinda disappointed with Kenshin’s Seiyuu,he sound so…weak when compared with Megumi Ogata (If I’m not mistaken, she was Kenshin Seiyuu.)

Now, my comments on Latin America Spanish dubs!

To be short, quality of the voice are quite good. Usually, they put a person who can imitate the voice of the age’s character. So Kinomoto Sakura does sound like a 10 year old. Sometimes, to avoid certain “controversies” they switch the gender of the original voice. For instance, Iron Eagle from MKR was dubbed with a male voice (likewise, CCS Yukito was dubbed with a male voice).

Most of the time, they do a fine job in the translation. When they can’t translate something they opt to leave it like that (CCS was translated as Sakura Cardcaptor), or find something suitable enough (Saint Seiya was translated as Caballeros del Zodiaco, something like “Zodiac Knights”). However, when they misses… The usage of US Sailormoon dubbed names; or, in Slayers, they called Ma Ryu Garv as Mario Garv (yes, that generic name); or a total replacement of Detective Conan cast names with generic Spanish names.

Orochi-san: Kenshin’s seiyuu is Suzukaze Mayo. AFAIK, she is (was?) a singer, and Kenshin is her debut as anime seiyuu.

Hmm…

Got mixed up back there,in Kenshin’s Soundtrack,Megumi Ogata was the one who did all the Kenshin’s Vocal.

Since Suzukaze Mayo was a singer, why didn’t she did the vocal herself, strange.

Come to think of it,Japan is the only place where seiyuu’s is given all the Star Treatment and their pay ain’t half bad, unlike other places… (Hell,in the chinese dub, they didn’t even list the people responsible in the end credits.)
