Windows ME for JAP CD-ROM

Will I have the japanese imports for computer games. Will some of the game I have works OK. But one computer game will not install. So I like to get Japanese Windows ME CD-ROM. Please anyone tell me where I can get more chepist CD-ROM. Most of the web sites I visit are expensive. I will say almost $80.00. I like to get at least 60 or less. If so send to my e-mail please

FYI, US $80.00 is (more or less) the price for a WinME OEM version. It is quite unlikely that you will find one for less, unless it is from a dubious source. And, no, you can’t buy the OEM version alone; you have to buy it with a piece of hardware, usually a hard drive.

What games do you have working on ME?

I am quite dubious of that. Usually M$ (or the major distributors) stop selling the current OS before the official release date of their new OS.

However, there is still one concern before jumping into WinXP bandwagon: will the games run in WinXP???

Kumiko-san: Do you know a reliable on-line retailer that sells you a reliable computer with Japanese Windows?

I have a G-spot, Tottemo Felomone, and Interract Play VR, Dancing Cats, and Koi-suru-oo-koku. The one doesn't install is the G-spot.

If they release Windows XP I can play both English Game and Japanese game?

Another method is install a multi-boot system like System Commander which will allow you have multiple languages in the one system. So far I got seven asian language working on one PC at work. Cheaper than old Cheap PC. However, if you get system commander, make sure you read the manual first before doing anything. The procedure to safely install Win9X/ME is tricky.

Remember XP runs the NT kernal which doesn’t like 16 bit code or access hardware directly. Older Japanese game that uses MIDI sync usually use 16 bits drivers/emulators or try to access the hardware directly. I am sure XP will reject these programs and the worst case scenario would be a BOD which 16 bit sounds drivers will do. Not to mention the 199USD or 99USD upgrade price.

I have a multi-boot DOS 6.22/Win Me/JWin Me setup. If anyone is considering it, I Recommend it. Make sure you have a big enough hard drive though.

I need Japanese Window ME because I know how to create the new partision. Once I create the new partision I just install the Japanese Windows ME CD-ROM. So when I start up the computer, I can choose Windows ME for English or Window ME for Japanese. From these reason, I need Japanese Window ME CD-ROM.

Win XP is basically Win2K with a few minor improvements. Like Win95 and Win98…
From my experience 95% of the Windows games work, but you can forget your old DOS games because none of them will run under W2K/XP. For W2K users I recommend the Service Pack 2 upgrade as it enables a “W95/98 compatibility mode”.
Also to use Japanese software you’ll have to install Japanese support and after installation in “regional settings” set the locale to “Japanese” and click “set default”. Otherwise the codepage is not enabled… ^_^;;;;
For compatibility info check the Japanese PC Software on Windows 2000(XP) Compatibility List :

Since I have a multi-boot setup using System Commander 2000, I’m not sure about getting XP. I’ll definitly consider it, though, just to maximize my disk space and still be able to play my JWin games.

In the San Diego, there is store that has Japanese Windows and Japanese computers. I might ask them. Maybe if Windows ME is expensive, maybe I will get Windows 98 because all of the computer games support Windows 98. I asked my friend that “has dual boot on his hard drive”. He said “it works”. So maybe I can install because I’m the ITT Tech Student. My major is CNS (which means Computer Network System).

Finally I did it. I can install the G-spot on the under English Windows. Thanks to Mr. Dave. He told me how to install the English Windows on G-spot. I’m so happy. I’m glad I didn’t buy the new or used computers.HAPPY
