After frying my brain with the Love Hina PS game and the somewhat inferior anime, I have to beg to differ. I’m still a staunch supporter of the manga, though.
The anime and the manga differ significantly in terms of storyline. The anime seems to go with standalone episodes while the manga attempts to paint an overall story. The anime in itself isn’t that bad, but I’m probably more used to the manga’s style. I’d recommend one to check out both the anime and manga as a compare-and-contrast exercise.
Well, there’s almost always going to be differences because of the format it’s presented on. I havn’t read “Love Hina” myself (Believe me, I’ll get around to it since everyone keeps telling me they love it. ) but I can think of others like “X-Men”. A storyline that spanned several issues or titles often gets compressed to fit into one half-hour episode, and you lose a lot when you do that.
Then there’s the tendency to want to show the action in a cartoon format and to concentrate on that over the storyline. Again, I’m reminded of a 2 page, 6 panel fight scene that translated into a 3 minute fight on screen.
As Jeffrey said, you’re probably best off getting samples of each then deciding which format you prefer. I know my attention-span-challenged sister prefers quick, half-hour shows so that she can watch it and move on to other things while I prefer to sit down and go through a good storyline myself. (And be happy I didn’t go into my rant about the movie “starship trooper” versus the book. )

Well, I do admit that I had read the book earlier and enjoyed it and I think that's part of the problem I had with it. I had literally just re-read the book the week before I saw the movie and it irritated me a bit. But my main rant about it actually has to do with people who read the book after the movie and then complain that the book wasn't "faithful" to the movie! (okay, come to think of it, it's not specifically to "starship trooper" but it bugs me when people complain that the original work wasn't faithful to the "newer work". Baring precognition and time travel, it's pretty impossible to do it that way, right?)
Getting back to the original comment. I just looked over Miss You. While this is a Crowd game, I think that only the hair style matches the Love Hina character designs. The characters themselves remind me very little of the Love Hina cast. As a side note, don’t other anime have Naru’s hairstyle, like Aa Megamisama or Mamotte Shugogetten?
As for My Honey, that’s a cosplay fetish game. I guess that’s okay. But I’m not quite as moved by the character designs as for some other cuter game makers that I’ve seen.

And finally the creator of the whole thing said that he would be wrapping up the manga series soon. (how soon? who knows.)
The four-shot OVA is actually the second OVA series to follow the TV series--the first was about the adventure on Pararakelesu (or however that thing's spelled) Island. And there was also a one-shot dealing with Christmas. The last time I checked (which was last week), the Love Hina manga was at Chapter 142. Creator Ken Akamatsu said that he would end it at Chapter 144, which means there are only two more chapters left.
