Worse case scenario

I’ve posted something similar before I think, but what the heck.
I remember many game game companies attempting to do bishoujo that failed outside Japan…
Megatech specifically comes to mind.

Now, if Peachprincess only sold 200 copies of a game, then $40 * 200 = $8000
I have no idea how many employees PeaPri has, but doesn’t that mean PeaPri is in serious red ink?
Considering that some games sold less than 200 copies…
You worried about looking for work anytime soon, Kumiko?

I read the words “production work suspended”, and immediately I remember Megatech.

Speaking of which, is PeachPrincess going to gurantee the completion of the works in progress?

there could be easier way to increase the market for your games:

Advertize=sales=increase in market usually u gotta remember what people dont know about they will not buy anime/manga is next to non exitstant here in the UK only few stores sell dvd’s / vhs’s unless you show the consumers the items ur offering they’ll show no intrest

the only reason i found out about anime/manga and Adult Bishoujo Games was through “warez” sites i knew nothing bout PP or its games till i wound up at jlist and purchased 2 t-shirts (LMM) i came by ur url an milled round an saw products i wanted.

The point i make is to make your selfs known in the English anime market other wise u might as well throw in the towel and pick another market to trade in

TH

Most of the traditional advertising you would think is ‘magazine spots’ and that advertising may = sales but it also = money up front with no guarantee for returns. That’s why a lot of big companies actually do street advertising, they just hand out freebies, there’s a whole study on the advertising practices for basketball shoes and the urban culture. If a big name says ‘I play Bishoujo games’ that may attract curious readers, but that big name says ‘I need to be payed in order for me to say “I play Bishoujo games”’ for example. Just the ad space in magazines is exorbitant for a small company like Peach Princess. Better to tell your friends than rely on a magazine ad to pull in the gaming crowd, it’s akin to inviting friends to go to a social gathering versus a flyer, translation: junk mail, to the average busy lifestyle individuals.

hmmm it only works if your friends are intrested in anime if there not it could be just as bad as putting up ads, however it should work in the USA if you tried but it’s gonna take a long time to get the UK to follow in the trend either way for best results use both methods and u’ll should get some results back

TH

The whole advertising issue is one that kinda gets bantered around here quite frequently. It’s not as simple as straightforward as people may think. But I’m sure PeaPri is doing the best it can and so are fans like Bokmeow-san.

well nothing is free and easy ne more no is it? are there any other methods of “advertizing” to increase the Adult Bishoujo Game in the english market besides the ones which were mensioned?

Hmm, well, Kumiko and the others at Peach Princess gets new ideas all time of how to try and increase the sales of their games... Hmm, the most recent idea was, I think, to try and get adult bookstores and such to sell their games... haven't heard how that's going, however. And even if they (PeaPri) get even a thousand of brilliant ideas, they're worth nothing of people doesn't "accept" the market in various ways.

…then i think we should force them into accepting in a good way of course evil grin

realisticly all we can do is sit back an see what happends,

cross fingers an touch wood and evey thing will be fine (we hope)

TH

Well, actually we can do a little more than that. TraitorHunter, you’re in the UK right? Try e-mailing PC-Gamer over here about writing something about bishoujo games, I’ve done it myself and I’m getting as many people over here as possible to e-mail them (and other gaming magazines) about it. I don’t know if it will have much effect, but we have to show our interest to them.

yeah me in the UK South B’ham, Hmmm i see what ur getting @ if we can increase the demand in gaming mags then it could spark of a chain-reaction but will it have any effect?

ummm pc gamer?? url 4 em me dunno cos i dont go get it i gets nfos bout stuff through GameSpy Daily/GS’s www

say which city u from TurricaN?
TH

I’m from near Derby, though I’ll be living in Stafford in September (Uni ).

There’s only one way really to find out if we’ll have an effect and that’s by getting people to show them their interest.

The URL is www.pcgamer.co.uk, but the contact page wouldn’t work properly when I went there so I had to ask on the forums for an e-mail address (It didn’t take long to get one). They did reply back (the guy who replied had knowledge of some bishoujo games, as he knew Divi-Dead), but he only said that it will be considered and that they’re not sure how successful it would be. Anyway, next move for me is making a new topic in their general gaming forum about bishoujo games - It’ll be interesting to see how they re-act and how interested people are. Actually, I might find lots of gaming forums and post it in all of them at the same time.

Yes, I will be TurricaN at PC-Gamers forums, or TheTurricaN (I forget if ‘‘TurricaN’’ was already taken). I’m always either TurricaN, TheTurricaN and also on some forums, Shoji_Okamura.

And, yup, Uni is gonna RULE!!

The current market is very far below their expectations, so we have to work to open it to a larger size. The products themselves certainly warrant that - all our products are very good and quite varied in style and content, all things considered. The elements within our currently available titles match elements that are heavily in demand in anime, manga, and adult live action erotica. So, basically, all the pieces are in place - it's just up to all of us to do the work to sell this "new" product (new for the English world, that is.)

To this end, does PeaPri produce any promotional materials? There are a few places in NY where I wouldn't mind mentioning PeaPri products, but barring lending them my boyfriend's copy of Snow Drop for a test run - which I don't think he'd agree to at all - I have nothing tangible to show them. Yes, I can always give them the url, but then it's up to them to do all the footwork. Let's face it, unless they've got tons of free time on their hands, they're not likely to.

If PeaPri posted a .pdf flyer or something that could be printed out, it would probably be a lot easier for the fan base to get the word out. Handing a flyer to a merchant with info and a few screen shots would go a lot further than simple word-of-mouth, or urls scribbled on a piece of notebook paper.

How about it? Can you guys make a .pdf info sheet for fans to help get the word out?

(^_^)

on the topic of small english Bishoujo Game market i dont recon it is as small as Kumiko-san states it is if ya look here http://shop.himeya.com/ there is tonnes of Bishoujo Games there Adult and non-adult dunno if there in english or not but looks cool

then again i might be wrong

TH

Yup, you are wrong. Except for some few, such as Giniro which does have an English translation, almost all of them are Japanese imports.

Now, you don’t need to know Japanese to play some games. Queen of Hearts, anyone?

got an not so legal ver of QOH98 an q’ed up other QOH’games through WinMX, Does ne 1 know if D Vine [LUV] is an english game eg translated? plus how many eps are there 4 D Vine [LUV] ??? (not premoting any form of pirating preview purposes only)

*phew*. I've had a EXHAUSTING day! You see, in High School here in Sweden, we're sometimes required to leave school a week or two and go out and "work" at a place for that time to get a little practial experience of how the "real life after school" works ^^;;. Right now I'm "working" at a hospital ^^;;;. Luckily for me, I've not seen anyone here who looks like Julyne here... nor have I heard any strange and "nasty" sounds from any toilet here ^^;.

dont speak too soon will ya things could turn on you

Have you noticed any schoolgirls attending a cram school, or bored housewives walking home with sacks of long, thick vegetables, or perhaps a really stacked model handing out tissues for the new adult shop across the street? No? Well... you're in the wrong game, then!

Hmm... no, I haven't noticed anything of that yet.. but then, again, I'm having a little too much work to notice anything else ^^;;. But I've seen a cute girl or two around here
