Yuri... aka "shoujo ai" or "girl love"

In no particular order :-
1.Akari & Multi (To Heart) - No idea, just like the combination.

2.Serika & Ayaka (To Heart) - I have a thing for twins

3.Ayu (Kanon) & Misuzu (AIR) - Wing Thingie

4.Chi and Dark Chi (Chobits) - From CLAMP’s latest offering featuring the cutest andriod ever after Multi. For those who had read far enough, you know what I mean, though there is implication that both of them have a “special” relationship,it would be nice to see them take a step further.

Hmmmmm… Interesting challenge… Since you place two challenes (one for naming the pairs and other for your favorite one), the numbers are just for reference, a favorite or not is written with the character names.

1) Yuuki Mizuho & Kamiyama Miko, just as Kumiko stated. (a favorite)

2) Iijima Miyuki & Minamizato Ai - Kakyuusei. For similar reasons as (1), but I won’t get too deep as they are full of spoilers of the TV. (not necessarily favorite, as I don’t quite like Miyuki’s character)

3) Hikari and Motoko - Tokimemik Memorial 2. Similar situation as (1), but, oddly enough, in the game if you choose (as Motoko suggests at the end) to go after Hikari, you won’t end up with either one!

4) Kei and Yuri - Dirty Pair/Dirty Pair Flash. OK, they are partners, and this is not even a bishoujo anime!, but, it is more than that for them. In Dirty Pair Flash, Kei came back to protect Yuri during an attack, even when Kei resigned 3WA (Yuri even commented she could manage it without Kei).

5) Akari and Shiho - To Heart, anime. They are childhood friends; and, Akari was willing to sacrifice her feelings for her best (female) friend. However, Miho knew of Akari’s intentions and didn’t took advantage of it. (a favorite)

6) Madoka & Hikaru - KOR. OK, this is shounen, not bishoujo. One (Hikaru) shouting aloud her relationship with her “darling”, and the other (Madoka) hiding her feelings, even “helping” Hikaru to get closer to the Kyosuke.

7) Kobayakawa Mizuho & Akiyama Midori - Dousoukai. I won’t say much about it, as have only seen the anime some time ago. In the anime, though, they don’t “like” the same guy (might be wrong here, though).

8) Sakura & Tomoyo - Card Captor Sakura. Not for any particular reason, they are just cute (and sometimes, silly)!

9) Aoi & Ryoko - Pia Carrot he Youkoso! 2. Maybe they are more bijin than bishoujo.

10) Miyuki & Natsumi - Taiho Shichauzo! Again, they are bijin, not bishoujo. But a perfect match, anyways, wits and brawns. Silly note: when I showed a girl friend of mine the OVAs, in the first OVA, she thought Miyuki was a lesbian, because she was “chasing” Natsumi to be her partner and roommate.

11) Shirayuki Miho and Maho - Tokimeki Memorial 2. They are twin sisters, so, not sure if they classify, but it is quite funny when you go on date with Miho (as you suppose to know her only, as you are on the same school; Maho is in Kirameki HS, setting of Tokimemo 1) and she reacts totally opposite to how you know her. (Miho is quite and calm, Maho is hyperactive and bashful)

12) Hikaru, Umi & Fuu - Magic Knight Rayearth (both anime and manga). They begin as perfect strangers one to other, but ended up as best friends, and most importante of all, they all matured as persons. (Of the three, I like Fuu, however, that does not necessarily applies to Kiyomi of SotS).

That’s all I can come up with right now. I may continue with this!

Criminy if I don’t answer soon, i’ll have to start putting up the harder ones to think off.

Oh, do forgive, but I’m horrible at remembering names. Hopefully i’ll at least have enough detail for you all to know whom I’m talking about.

Yuri relationships that I can think of.

1) Okay the twin sisters from Divi-dead (Sachiko… and I can’t remember her sister’s name.)

2) The twin sisters from Seraphim Call (epsidoes 5 and 6)… the “light/dark” episodes.

3) Sailor Neptune and Sailor Uranus… at least I think it’s those two. I do know they are from the outer planets, and are very close… as sisters go.

4) Tiara and Lena from Shamanic Princess. In my opinion despite the fact that they are on opposite sides of the argument, they do have very close and special feelings for each other.

5) Scicile and Mary from Gloria (both the game, and the OVA)

6) Swatti and Shurii from Can Can Bunny Extra (both the game and OVA)

7) The two main girls from the Chirality manga from Urashihara

8) Pfil and … oh my I can’t think of her name! Um… the other fair girl… her partner on the job. AH! I can’t believe I can’t remember her name!.. anyway, the two main girls from the Bondage Fairies series.

9) Momoko, Yuri, and Hinagaku from Wedding Peach. All these girls grow up together, and find out about themselves and each other.

10) The twins from Karula Mau. I can’t think of their names either. One has red hair and is much more athletic, the other has long, black hair and is much more intellegent.

There I’ve listed 10! I hope they’re correct. Do forgive my incompetence at remembering their names.

Mike

I don’t realy understand the difference between bishoujo and shoujo, so I’ll include samples from both. Most of my experience is with anime.

1)Card Captor Sakura: Sakura and Tomoyo (I would have to say this is my favorite. They’re so cute together.) Tomoyo’s mother hints that she and Sakura’s mother had a yuri relationship as well.

2)Sailor Moon: Micharu and Hiruka, Usagi and Rei, Chibi-Usa and Hotaru

3)Revolutionary Girl Utena: Utena and Anthy, Utena and Watabe(spelling?), Juri and Shiori(?)

4)Gloria: Mary and any of her sisters (At least that is the impression I got from Mary’s attitude)

5)Vampire Miyu: Miyu and Chisato

That is all I can think of at the moment.

Perhaps it has to do with the fact that I have enough trouble pursuing girls with only half the human race against which to compete. If I start having to compete against the other half, I might as well admit defeat.

You just need to look at yuri from a different perpsective. Find a yuri that want children of their own and make sure that they chose you to be the father.

Beside how can I argue with yuri relationships when I am still trying to figure out what girls see in guys anyways, other than to make babies.

Even if a yuri couple isn’t physically intimate you a man still needs to convince one of the pair that he is worthy of her dear friend. Next he need to covince her that that he will not try to interfere with the yuri relationship.

Just imagine what Mary’s sisters (Gloria)might do if they thought you the player might hurt her in any way.

Well, sure... but you have to look at it from the female perspective, especially the perspective of a bisexual or lesbian. The normal stance of a girl who enjoys other girls is that she "just hasn't met the right guy" or that she "needs to be 'fixed'" or has some type of problem that the "right guy" can "fix" for her. That just is not true in most cases, and it is very insulting to treat a girl that way. Actually... Keiko and Misato in Tokimeki Checkin are quite a nice presentation of yuri, so far. Some of the other combinations mentioned here are, as well.

For example, take Mari and her sisters in Gloria. Yes, you would be in seriously deep doo-doo if you hurt Mari-chan... and rightly so! If you were going to do such a thing, then you have no place in their yuri world, now do you? That is not to say that girls can't also be hurtful - in fact, sometimes girls can be more hurtful to other girls than to any guy, or more hurtful to other girls than any guy would ever dream of being. This is also shown in Tokimeki, by the way... (shudder) But the point is, if you are going to enter into a woman's world, you'd better be very worthy! Specifically, if you are going to enter into the yuri world, you'd better be worthy not only of only one girl, but any of the girls - they all must accept you into their world, or you will very likely never succeed in the attempt. Oh, they might "use" you, sure... but they'll never accept you, really. But... is being worthy of them something a guy is capable of? How many guys would REALLY be willing to prove their worthiness to girls who have such a close relationship? Interesting question... isn't it?

Fix them, why would I want to do that? I understand them. I still trying to convince myself that the other girls ARE NOT the ones that need to be fixed.

Actually, I have absolutely no problem with trying to prove my worthiness to girls with a yuri relationship. The emotional bond between girls in a yuri relationship is real and wonderful. Being part of something like that would be incredible. It is a bond that must be earned with love and trust.

It isn't something that can be bought. Sex can be bought. Sex may be pleasurable, but it isn't real. I want something real.

Geeze Nobody, talk about being super cynical. Maybe you should change your call sign to CAPTAIN CINICISM

Anyway, I kinda like the “challenge” idea. If it’s too easy, it wouldn’t be worth the blood, sweat, and tears that it takes to obtain it. If you did succeed, it makes it that much more special.

And, if you did fail, you can still figure out what to do next time.

"If at first you don’t succeed, seige them until they give-up."

Ditto, here, Nobody-san…

Kumiko-san, that’s because opposites attracts each other?

OK, back to the topic. Kumiko-san, I do believe in love, but only to a certain extent. I just don't let my feelings cloud my judgement... So, if you ask how strong is my faith, I will have to say not as strong as most will expect.

I remember another yuri couple today. A-ko and C-ko from Project A-ko.

I really need to have my head driven into a concrete pillar for forgetting that one.

Also... be careful what you wish for... wait until you see Misato-sama and Keiko-chan's ending! (tee hee!)

Minoru (Snow Drop) seems to be a good example of a man that is part of a yuri world. Of course, he has the unfair advantave of having grown up with Honami and the Karasuyama sisters (Lucky Bastard). It illistrates the kind of relationship I wish I was part of. Though I would tend to be as mischievous as Keika.
