First, I already posted about the Fuguriya games in this very thread:
Second, I deliberately stipulated “full length”. Our current modus operandi involves negotiations with incorporated makers, not doujin circles, and while this may change in the future (and I hope it does) I can’t accept Fuguriya as an answer to the challenge at this point. ^^;;
This is certainly a contender (mentioned first in the thread by Coolgamer and then by me in the challenge post). I’m going to talk to Peter about the viability of getting in touch with Liar Soft.
This is in violation of the “produced in the past few years” restriction, I’m afraid… it doesn’t mention being compatible with any OSes beyond ME. While we’re on the subject of Tinkerbell this could be a viable option, although it is once again just “lezzing it up”:
I got one main problem with the second game: it’s a downirght Marimite rip-off. ALright, maybe it’s a Marimite parody/copy, but it looks suspicious.
The first one, Last Song, however… I second coolgamer. It’s yuri-themed, its light, and it’s by CROWD. Sure, getting contracts with other companies is an ievitability, but lets not forget the original contract.
If you think about it, at least 5 of the localized games by PP and GC are games that did not fare well at EGS. Besides, Summer Days didn’t fare well because of its huge patches, SHuffle didn’t do as well as it should have (this one surprised me a bit) and Snowdrop, considered the best of PP’s releases before YMK, ahd a lower then 50% rating.
Snowdrop had a pleasant art style and a pleasant main-path storyline, IF you could find it. Snowdrop was also considered one of the most frustrating games, since you could so easily stumble through the week many times over without much ever happening and without having any idea what you were doing wrong or how to fix it. It didn’t reward exploration so much as it begged you to go find a walkthrough…
Well, the fact that there was a pleasant art-style and main-path storyline meant it warranted some credit, though it’s frustrating merits on first time gameplay are perhaps the reasons why it got that low rating.
Then again, we’d have no real idea of a game that gets a low rating ‘deserved’ that rating unless we play the game for ourselves.
For a long time, it WAS the best. Which is kind of sad, because everything you’ve said is very valid. It’s also short, throws some story threads out there that go nowhere, and has too much (ahem) booby-trapped ecchi involving Keika.
But, it had a rather sweet storyline which was better than a LOT of PP’s releases. It wasn’t really until Kana came out that another game comparable was released.
If I tried to play it now, I’d probably get really frustrated with it. But at the time? When the only stuff we’d had translated before then was JAST stuff?
EDIT: This space intentionally left blank. Or it would have been left blank except for an accidental double post necessitating blanking an un-blank space to have something to leave blank.
“SHUFFLE” has major pacing problems, which may only become worse depending in which order you complete the girls. As for “SnowDrop”, I gave it the lowest score i ever gave to any erogame I ever played.
Snow Drop is remembered as great because at the time it came out, there wasn’t much competition. If you released that game today, even with great graphics, I think the majority of its players would be disappointed. Having to scout out what’s going on by the tick to find the one critical event that opens up 75% of the game would drive most people to quit or go find a walkthru. Now, with an improved hint system, it would be quite nice.
BTW, was that someone wanting their “lesbian stripping wrestlers”? Because Ring Out was just forced lezzing.
