I wonder… if it’s possible for someone to ask Peter if JAST has any intentions of continuing talks with Black Cyc? I can’t fly over to the US, unfortunately. :expressionless:

If they did, JAST won’t talk about it until it’s over. When a deal is successful, they’ll announce the game that’s coming out, but only when all the ink has dried on the contracts (and I assume actual work has started). When the deal fails, they’ll mention it in an exclusive interview, but only when they’ve exhausted all avenues.

Like most companies, JAST doesn’t openly discuss what “secret deals” are in the works (can be used by competitors and also makes bad press when deals fail), or how they go about making their deals (too much inside information and possibly trade secret).

Generally we make a suggestion of what we want, JAST does their thing, and we hope it works out. If you REALLY want an eroge to come over, a good bet would be to let JAST know you want that title (or titles). Then write to the original Japanese company, tell 'em about what JAST does (translate commercial Japanese games into English), and how it be nice if they worked together. Maybe having the Japanese side initiate contact - slim as it might be - could be a deciding factor. It could also save JAST’s time with doing sales pitches, since many Japanese companies have no interest in entering the English market.

I guess one question we could ask: Would it be okay if fans wrote to BCyc, letting them know fanlators found a way to insert English characters into their game engine, and if they’d be interested in talking with JAST again. Would that hurt JAST’s relationship with BCyc (or their parent company)? Should we just let sleeping dog lie, and let JAST handle the situation on their own? To be honest, we don’t know if there were other issues involved… that might have only been one hurdle, and will not solve everything.

i hope they announce x-change alternate 2 but i would like 3 methods to conquer the world and its newly announced fan disk the other thing i would like to see is the remakes of x-change 1 and 2

The first items, even possibly the fan disc now that MangaGamer has released some and they seem successful, might be possible. The remake I doubt it as Peter has been against remakes and instead bringing new material. The only remakes done were the ones on the JAST Memorial collection.

I think I’ll leave the task to someone else 'cos far be it for a maiden to email a “dark eroge” company and bring unwanted attention to herself. :stuck_out_tongue:

There’s no way I’m going to tell them things like “I like sex with tentacles”, “I’m really really into dark, obsessive kind of storylines”, “I’m interested in playing games where I can get to enjoy the process of breaking someone apart”, etc., 'cos I’ve no idea how to write in Japanese neutral gender form. :stuck_out_tongue: They’re just going to find out I’m female from my speech and thought pattern. :frowning: It’s just going to get… soo awkward, so “???”. I guess… maybe… I can… find out how to speak politely but in a slightly aggressive male pattern. =P

Hmmm… no, it’s not good to tell a company that “someone is doing unofficial tls of your game without your permission”. :stuck_out_tongue: However, one could… get ahold of said tools, try to insert “English text” into the game and tell them that “hey, you can create programs partially based on said tools to help insert English text into your games” or in an even more roundabout way. =P Telling them that there is a “program” that’s potentially used for “unofficial English tls” is too blunt and somewhat offensive? Fine then… just drop a hint about specifications of code and so on. :stuck_out_tongue: Implicit is better than being explicit, in this case. They’d probably get the hints, get the program themselves(if they want to) and everyone gets to save face, while preserving harmony. :lol:

Well there’s no worry, because no one is actually doing that. There’s always been talk and excitement about someone fanlating a BCyc game, but nothing ever comes out of it.

Can’t serve a C&D for something that doesn’t exist. :lol:

I wonder what JAST is going to license at AX. What’s on everyone’s wishlist? (Within reason; try to stick with companies JAST already has relations with!)

*Soukou Akki Muramasa will take some work, as the text presentation is columnar. I would suggest widening the text column a bit and having the text wrap (horizontally) within that. All this can be done within the confines of the game engine without needing Nitroplus to do it.

(I’m leaving Muramasa off the list as I personally don’t think it’s localisable. The end result would be far inferior to the original, so I think it’d be better to go for Nitro+'s other titles and/or Propeller’s eroges.)

Same with Asairo, which Ojamajo listed too, as the entire plot revolves around Japanese language homographic puns.

That’s true (shouldn’t have included it on my list either), but there are also the engine issues with Muramasa. I’m not sure if just widening the textbox and using horizontal wrapping would be enough in itself, and it still wouldn’t look particularly good presentation-wise.

Now there is one more game I’d like from Nitro + and that’s the western themed game with the French name since one it looks really good, two it sounds really good, and three, thanks to Red Dead Redemption I’m sure there are many of us here who’d like to play a good western themed eroge.
