The CD is not the kind you would find in a
typical record store, but one that sells odd items.
They have changed the words of the song a good a bit, from the 70's version, but the feel of the music is still there.

Still, to happen across it in a store...

Well, I sort of expected the words to be changed a bit. Hmm, actually, now that I think about it. Are you talking about the original versus the Japanese version or against the English version she sings on the CD?

I am comparing the 1970's orginal song Insert a K-Tell record ad here with the music found on the DVD's , the english version of the opening theme song. The words have changed alot only because of context (love song vs title song), but the music for the most part is the same.
Woodelf.
PS. I think the Japanese improved the orginal version.

For the interminably curious, here are the original English lyrics.

quote:

Sugar baby love - The Rubettes (1974)
----------------------------------------
Music & Lyrics : Bickertown - Waddington
----------------------------------------
Sugar baby love, sugar baby love
I didn’t make to make you blue
Sugar baby love, sugar baby love
I didn’t mean to hurt you.

All lovers make
Make the same mistakes
Yes they do
Yes, all lovers make
Make the same mistakes
As me and you

Sugar baby love, sugar baby love
I didn’t make to make you blue
Sugar baby love, sugar baby love
I didn’t mean to hurt you.

—speaking—
People take my advice
If you love somebody
Don’t think twice.

Love you baby love, sugar baby love
Love her anyway, love her ev’ryday

The English translation of the Japanese Sweets version.
quote:

TV anime “A Little Snow Fairy Sugar” Opening Theme Song
09. Sugar Baby Love

Sugar Baby Love, I don’t want to know such a thing as love.
Sugar Baby Love, the rouge of tears on my lips.

I bought roses and added a letter on Thursday
Lonely Sunday, the bouquet was withered
in the corner of the room.

Sugar Baby Love, unrequited love and painful night
Sugar Baby Love, you’re so caring in my dream

The words I could say many times in my dream
I love you, but when I see your eyes, my lips get frozen.

Don’t put out my secret love fire… don’t put it out

The lyrics of the original release are exactly the same as the US bonus track on Sweets. The original composers are credited in all three versions. Joe Lemon is credited with the Japanese lyrics.
