Bbs move january 18 - please read

As you may know already, we are going to upgrade our bbs to a new server. This is planned to take place Friday night, January 18th. At that time, this BBS will be closed so that no new posts or registrations take place while we proceed with our transition.

The process should not take over one week, but is expected to complete over the weekend if there are no hiccups or glitches. During that time, this BBS will be closed and inaccessible. If you have any issues with your vmate/game orders, please email Shingo at pr(at)jastusa.com.

When the BBS transition is completed, we will post the new URL on the current BBS page so please check back for updates and update your bookmarks accordingly.

You will still be able maintain your current BBS login and password after the transition so there is no need to worry about re-registering again (although your alternative screen name will NOT be carried over). While we hope to maintain as much data as possible after migrating to the new BBS, some info will not make it through the transfer.

Below are known issues of data that will be lost:

  • private messages (backup if you need to)
  • existing polls
  • hidden/backup forums
  • japanese text since they will be converted to UTF (such as olf’s signature), but any new ones made after the transition will be viewable
  • avatar settings (you just need to relink or reupload)
  • member ratings
  • screen names

While we will try our best to keep as much bbs data as we can, Peach Princess is not responsible for any lost/inaccessible data after the BBS transition. Therefore, before this BBS closes on Jan18, it is strongly recommended that you backup any data that you may want to keep for whatever reason. This applies especially to any PMs in your account.

Will the signature change or unchange? Some users wanted to put their avatars or tags on their signatures.

no idea on that to be honest, but if i were you i would backup your signature up just to be safe

the bbs move is done, with the following (additional) known issues:

  • bbs tags are converted into html tags for some unknown reason in some posts. sorry but i do not plan to fix them because there are too many of them and too random; you will have to parse through the code somehow
  • screen names dont seem to work anymore. please login using your login account and sorry but you will be known by your login name from now on
  • too lazy to move all the appropriate topics into anime/gaming forum. i will move them gradually when i am free

jinnai: i know that there are members who use a different screen name than a login name, possibly because before the login name could not have spaces in them but the screen name can etc, or for other reasons… :stuck_out_tongue:

case in point: olf’s current login name vs. his longer name

anyhow, regarding screen names not working anymore. if you wish i can give you one opportunity to change your login name to whatever your screen name was in the old board. all you need to do is PM me and i will look up your screen name in the old database and update it accordingly. sorry but for the sake of fairness i will not change it to anything other than the screen name that you used before the transfer

My thoughts are here, I want only to add that I’ve found more semi-deleted posts, apparently certain direct Links (and the related text) have not survived the BBS move :cry: …
I do like this new BBS, however, especially the background colors :smiley: …

u tell that to peter, as he wants to change the colors and layout stuff because he never likes default color settings etc :stuck_out_tongue:
so although he is proceeding with the colors on the slow side, enjoy it while you can :stuck_out_tongue:

The combination of hot pink, neon orange, and vomit green are always original in my book. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve eMailed a tearful lament for Payne-sama just a few hours ago, I really hope that the “default”, current colors can remain…

Can we have avatar and signature size limits? With some people putting 500+KB avatars, I’m tempted to not display them otherwise…

i have discussed this with shingo when we had this board running and decided to keep the avatar limit to 20KB and 150x150 pixels
