Before Dawn Daybreak - NEW Black cyc game !!!!!!!!

IIRC the preorder stuff was an omake crossover disc and the official soundtrack. Is it a must have? Naw… you can get by without them. If you already have the game, I really don’t see them justified in paying $100 again…

They work on Vista 32-bit just fine. Don’t know about Vista 64-bit… quit using that version, since nothing else seemed to work on it…

Windows 7 has an XP virtual mode provided, so it will work on that, unless you own a Sony laptop.

I think it’s generally accepted that White Cyc is total fail, but they’re still cranking out titles, so SOMEONE has to be buying these.

Anyways… their next work is Kurogane. Looks bland to me.

Personally I’ll just wait and see what BCyc delivers in 2010, since they’re still going forward with dark eroge despite the new regulations making it harder to do so.

Also that dumb Tuxedo Mask title for Cyc Members, was released a new branch called Cyc Rainbow. I shit you not.

I’m kinda curious if the plain vanilla flavored Cyc is doing anything, or gone inactive like Rose Cyc… they haven’t released something for over two years now.

This is why I was hoping people wouldn’t get too excited about the new anti-rape EOCS stuff - because it really is the same as the anti-incest prohibition, and the anti-rape prohibitions will be as effective at preventing blatant rape titles from being released as the anti-incest prohibition was at preventing RUNE’s Hatsukoi from being released =P

I don’t entirely understand it myself, but there’s plainly regulations in these requirements big enough to drive a truck filled with tentacle monsters through, so the best thing is to just put up with them until they go away

Anyway, loosely related to BLACK CYC I know, but our beloved Izumi Banya (BLACK CYC’s star writer) is the scenario writer behind an upcoming NTR-fest from LiLiM Darkness. Yay. (dark lovers should be able to get behind this as NTR is about as dark as it gets :x)

EDIT: how did I screw up Izumi’s name so much even after editing it to fix it? >_> must have been late

Ir onic considering that tentacle monsters were introduced as a loophole to the whole genatalia censorship thing

Maybe introduced to eroge, but not introduced as a new erotic concept. The whole tentacle concept in Japanese culture goes quite a bit back, as is evidenced by the famous Hokusai work “The Dream of the Fisherman’s Wife”. I will admit, however, that as far as I am aware, it wasn’t until eroge that the tentacle concept morphed from sea life to a unique monster. I imagine Narg could tell you more, as my knowledge on this is limited and in earlier conversations he has shown himself to be quite knowledge on the subject.

Yeah, I know that was it’s first official introduction, but actually I’m not sure whether tentacle monsters’ introduction as a loophole was originally for ero manga or eroge.

Ah, mentioned some of this news already. :stuck_out_tongue:

The problem with White Cyc is that they seem to get the relatively short end of the stick when it comes to production values, when in reality they are up against far more competition than Black Cyc. Even if Before Dawn Daybreak was a disappointment/land mine for many people, it doesn’t have that much competition, whereas Natsuiro Straight (judging by the demo + reviews I’ve read) is just below par in every area and there are perhaps 20 to 30 eroges (vastly) superior eroges along the same lines so far this year.

Speculation on Cyc - I think even if they start releasing titles again, they’d have similar problems to White Cyc, being up against heavy competition from brands with far higher budgets and established reputations.

Heh… Oh yeah…

True. Although I think BCyc is justified as a top rated dark eroge company (although when they fail, it’s pretty bad). It jumped to the top of most lists, with MinDeaD BlooD - until that title, they were consider somewhat above average, but a one trick pony (Yami no Koe SPAM’ing). MDB practically was a bolt from the blue, that no one expected from them. They then released a Yami no Koe turd which made it seem they were merely a one hit wonder, but suddenly dished out Mugen Kairo, Gore Screaming Show, EXTRAVAGANZA, and Gun-Katana in rapid succession (not counting the MDB fan disc and remake). Then we got the two duds in Yami no Koe Zero and Before Dawn Daybreak, but the company redeemed itself with Mugen Kairo 2.

Now everyone is hoping they can shoot off another chain of awesome titles for 2010 and beyond.

And of course the single Rose Cyc title, is considered one of the best yayoi around. I’ve been playing it from time to time, and while I’m not into the boy-on-boy action, the plot and character development is so good I just suffer through them.

Black Cyc’s Mushi Tsukai is now available for dl sales, as is Cyc’s Senjou de Shoujo wa Karada wo Kakeru. To avoid double posting/bumping an old thread LAPIS BLUe’s BIFRONTE (MinDead Blood/Mugen Kairou 1+2 artist) also went up on Friday.

I haven’t played enough of Mushi Tsukai to make an informed judgement on it, but from what I’ve seen it doesn’t seem to have aged very well - the battle system REALLY sucks, and every other component has been average at best so far. If anything, it seems like a trial run of EXTRAVAGANZA. Senjou de Shoujo is a maybe for me - I’m a big fan of the writer, but from the reviews I’ve read, the gameplay doesn’t appear to be particularly good (the art isn’t particularly friendly on the eye either). If anyone’s played it, I’d be interested to hear their thoughts on it.

In my opinion, Mushitsukai is a good game, storywise at least (better than Before Dawn Daybreak in my opinion (amazing how one route can sink a game), though I do wish the sub heroines/mid-bosses had more presence in the story, meaning we could learn more about them. I will agree that the battle system is a little flawed especially when fighting the final boss, who in my opinion is one of the toughest I’ve faced in a video game.

Thanks, I guess I’ll give it another try soon. Foolmaker’s walkthrough gives some suggestions for the battles, so hopefully that part won’t cause me too many problems… hopefully. I’m terrible at anything with gameplay so fingers crossed I can actually finish this.

Double post but…

Cthulhu announcement page open, with a list of the staff - preorder decision confirmed. :stuck_out_tongue: (also, the 2nd of the Senjou de Shoujo games, and Yami no Koe Ibunroku went up on dlsite today).

Looks delicious, can’t wait.

Could anyone tell us what the story summary on the preview page says?

Okay… this eroge isn’t from BCyc, but it seems like something BCyc fans might like:

Anyone hear if it’s fail or win? Just came out a few days ago I believe… I’ll probably be adding it to this month’s order. Appears to have tentacles out the ying-yang and then some.

First sample CGs/backgrounds for Corpse Maid are up. Given the plotline, no real surprises. :stuck_out_tongue: From what they’ve posted in the diary, it seems like the game will only be several hours or so, but it’ll be interesting nonetheless to see them back in action in their favourite sort of genre.

Not sure where to post this, and it definitely deserves a separate thread once further details are available, but Taiyou no Ko should be awesome - even better staff than Rewrite.

Also, what else. Dark Blue is still very much a wait and see title for me (they haven’t chosen a particularly good date to release it on), but notwithstanding the crude art, it’s looking more interesting than I initially though it would be. The getchu and DMM pages for it have more sample images as well.

So that’s why Shizuru gets so much ass.

And here I always thought it was just because he was a serial rapist. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m a little confused… was this article actually trying to argue that men prefer zombies over vampires? Is it possible that men might not like a show like Tru Blood or Vampire Diaries is because of the soap opera writing? Considering the ardour for Buffy and Angel, it seems that vampires can easily appeal to the male demographic.

But I do agree with the analysis of why women are drawn to vampires. The bad boy pull is clearly strong in the vampire. Actually that brings me back to my confusion… wouldn’t men be drawn to dangerously alluring vampires of the female persuasion over a walking mess of necrotic flesh? We have the bad girl syndrome burning in our blood too.

The article kind of sort of has a point, but it isn’t really written well enough to come across with it. (Of course, it was written as a funny, light article … not a college paper.)

Basically, “vampire movie” and “zombie movie” have well-defined stock plotlines, just like most genres. And he seems to be arguing that these stock plotlines tend to be split up along gender lines, with vampire plots typically having more appeal to women, and zombie plots typically appealing more to guys. I could probably be convinced this works.

But “guys like zombies” and “girls like vampires” is a bit much, and not quite right.

I still don’t think it is so cut and dry even when dealing simply with typical “zombie plot” vs typical “vampire plot”. Zombie movies only draw a small segment of the male population, so I don’t see those plots actually drawing in more males than a vampire plot. I think the true distinction is probably between “soap opera vampire plot” and a more… “serious” vampire plot. I think most men are tired of the angsty “lust, pain, angst, lust” of some of the current vampire plots. Though then that is basically true of any plot for men.

But what do I know… I’m the rare breed of man that adores romantic comedies. Yes, I admit and yes I used the word adore. Your manhood need not feel threatened  .
