Before Dawn Daybreak - NEW Black cyc game !!!!!!!!

Moar new screen shots!

Could it be, that Azuma-sensei and Hitomi get their own victory route?

I suppose he did it for more money and negotiating control. Case in point: neither Hironobu Sakaguchi, Yoshitaka Amano, or Nobuo Uematsu (the Final Fantasy gods) work as employees at Square-Enix, yet continue to contribute as commissioned hires. They’ve all cited that they get more control when they’re commissioned, than when they’re salaried.

It is VERY UNCOMMON when a non-producer contributor to game development, has actual direction control. Someone with the authority like Shigeru Miyamoto or Hideo Kojima is an extreme exception. That’s why it’s not uncommon for legends like Keiji Inafune (the Mega Man guy) or Michiru Yamane (the Castlevania composer) to go off and leave to create an independent company.

Indeed it’s because of such common departures, that I’m amazed Koji Igarashi has not left Konmai, after being snubbed constantly at Castlevania projects and manhandled during Tokimeki Memorial 4.

The teaser page for graphics and audio is now complete. Only three more days, until I can see how in-depth these new routes are. :o

Considering the new in game CG apparently showed Yuka with the Tree of Blood power up, a theory I mentioned to some friends on Facebook about the new route being an alternate take on her true path may be turn out to be right.
I have a bit of a theory regarding that:

Okay the new CG hint at two more things aside from the part with Yuka, more involvement storywise of Eri, and also involvement with Mayu (and presumably Mana too). If my theory about this having something to do with Yuka’s true end scenario of the first game, then this could mean a happier end for her in which Mayu and Mana survive and end up in her care. Now considering the scenario lead to Yuka not being on the best of terms with the Vampire Hunters that, and possibly her parentage, could mean she and the twins will have to disappear from the hunters’ radar. This could mean them going with Eri considering two things:
1) The phone card with Mayu playing a guitar seems to be the most advertised of the card images.
2) Would be a good cover and we also don’t know how Eri reformed Cerberus Guard 69 so quickly, or who the new band members are

That theory makes so much sense.

Oh! Someone has started translating GSS into English… with all the DMCA flying around, and seeing how he has a huge donate button on the front page, I’d rather not give a direct link (those two don’t mix).

Just google Necrosis Translations and you’re there.

I still fail to understand why BCyc couldn’t input English text into their own game, when others have backwards engineered them to do it. My precious BCyc… did you even try? :expressionless:

Chances are that wasn’t the problem so much as getting the game to run in non-JP locales. You can’t exactly ship something commercially if it won’t run on people’s OSs out of the box and stuff like AppLocale is too hackish a solution to use for that.

EDIT: Also you can see just from that screenshot that plainly apostrophes can’t be used. Who knows what other problems there might be!

Well, the game’s apparently out now, and they included a nice looking picture of Eri and Ja- err I mean Shingo. Too bad I have no idea what the accompanying text says. Now on to the waiting for my copy to ship…

The accompanying text is just a message from the devs explaining how MDB is 6 years old, how it’s come a long way since then, and this is the penultimate director’s cut that MDB was dreamed to be.

Still don’t have my copy yet - will be here later today - but the buzz on 2chan is that Eri and Shingo are fleshed out… in all senses of the word.

Penultimate? So they actually said they expect to … what, re-re-re-rerelease the game AGAIN one more time after this? Although given how many times they seem to have re-released it, I wouldn’t put it past them …

[duck]

If George Lucas can do that I don’t see why Black Cyc can’t (will they make Yuka or Saki shoot second in a vampire hunt?)

This is BCyc… penultimate is in-between the lines.

I’m going to use my psychic powers: next version of MDB will actually integrate the main game with the fan disc material as one complete game, rather than two individual parts. Come on… you know it’s gonna happen. :stuck_out_tongue:

Going through the data for the new MinDeaD BlooD, lets see what I can find

Edit 1:

Image Data:
Includes backgrounds, events, characters, ect

DVD version - 1848 images
Complete Version - 2085 images

That means 237 new images are in the data.

Edit 2:
The Complete version expansions files are done differently to the DVD version expansion files …making it a bit harder to compare.

Dunno if I missed something, but the image count dropped?
DVD expansion - 1486 images
Complete expansion - 1276 images

It went down by 210, which may just be a coincidence but the number is close to how many were added to the main game. Perhaps parts of the expansion were put into the main game?

Edit 3:
Script files:

DVD version - 8.68 MB
Complete edition - 9.25MB

These are just the size on the hard drive though without being able to read them

Edit 4:
Got the script files to the DVD version of MinDeaD BlooD in a readable/translatable format
3.44MB is the DVD versions script
Translation Project anyone? lol

Edit 5:

YAY! Managed to get the script for the complete edition too.
3.57 MB is the complete versions script.
We could translate this too :stuck_out_tongue:

so that means 0.13MB of new script has been added

2ch’s got the gruesome details here and here (spoiler warning). Simply put, they’ve added very little to the game (10 CGs, 0 ero-scenes [the new HCGs are used to replace duplicate images in the original], 1 ending), so probably not anything worth rebuying the game for. If this is the ‘complete edition’/director’s cut, then it seriously should have been in this form back in 2006.

So, who here is not buying Sayoko? raises hand

Yes, I mean, this is a full-priced remake of a game released in 2004 and they’ve added probably 1-2 weeks (in development time) worth of material on top of the last release, which was in 2006. Black Cyc really are clutching at straws now.

They did more than that, it looks as though they upgraded the system. ‘System NNN’ is now listed as being V7 ( version 7 ? ). Also its more noticeable in the expansion, but the files are done differently. The ‘Another’ folder is gone and merged within other files.

The config file is also now listed as nnnconfig2.exe with an updated thumbnail.

Pretty much it looks as though the game is more of a systems update, then anything else.

It seems Black Cyc has been fiddling around with there game system quite a bit lately. Could they be trying to make it more user friendly for programmers so english localization would be possible?

Did their old games work in Windows 7?

I’d assume NOT, or may be not quite so well, or they wouldn’t be advertising the latest release of the Full Metal Box as the win7 edition

So has anyone played the new route for the MDB remake? Any idea how to unlock it?

They began re-releasing them as updated to windows 7. I remember MinDeaD was the first that this happened to. B-CYC stopped selling the original, and people were like WTF! Then a few weeks later the windows 7 version became available.

D.O did that with their DL sales games. I didn’t like that because they took down the old non-Win7 ones, replaced them with the Win7 versions which are more expensive and have DRM >_>
