Before Dawn Daybreak - NEW Black cyc game !!!!!!!!

I’m currently playing the main game of the MDB rerelease using the walkthrough I used for the full voice edition, and to be honest, it’s not as tedious as I thought it would be. It’s been years since I played and back then that was my first venture into playing an untranslated game. Now that I have a greater understanding of the language then I did then (I can even read a little bit of the text, and I’m not even using my usual AGTH + dictionary.com combo) I’m actually appreciating the story more.

Hmmm… just got 100% complete on both games. I’m going back through the original MDB fan disc - the non-voiced version - to double check some stuff though.

Long story short: It appears all the new CG’s and story material, are in MinDeaD BlooD - not the Mana & Mayu fandisc.

They added new CG’s that help tell the story better - not all the new images are for the sex scenes (there’s a touching new scene with Yuka and Anima acting like a real daughter and mother would; the Yuka + Shizuru fighting evil vampire daddy has some new pics; etc) - but it seems that everything new is only in the main game. I didn’t notice anything extra in the fan disc.

This is really lame on BCyc’s part, because this means the “new” material was actually stuff cut from the DVD remake… which was supposed to be the “uncut” version of the original MDB CD version.

That being said: I like having a fully voice acted fan disc (especially in the hidden joke ending - and the epic evil throne room ending is even moar epic voiced as well)… but that should have been done with the original DVD remake from several years back. I’m going to be really pissed if BCyc makes an “uncut” remake of the fan disc in the future, that actually has new material in it… that’s REALLY milking a dead cow.

If they wanna continue the MBD series, they need to make a real MDB2.

Would you happen to know how I can get this new ending that Black Cyc advertised?

I didn’t catch it… 14 endings in the main game (counting the bad ends) and 10 endings in the fan disc. IIRC, that’s the same numbers as before. Got 100% for them both with this count.

expiate sin plays for a new opening: not for a new ending.

EDIT
Here’s my save file for MDB Complete:

Nothing moar to unlock, as far as I can tell. :frowning:

SAYOKO IS HERE!!!

this looks like a pretty bad eroge

Ugh. She can take her ass back then. I’m not preordering that at all… BCyc already got my yearly contributions for Cthulhu and MDB Complete: both of which I don’t regret getting, but were nonetheless disappointing because I know BCyc are could have done better. They’ve officially landed in my “second rate” studio list… most unfortunate that the mighty has fallen. :frowning:

I won’t be cheering for them anymore, until they earn my trust back. At least they might get Denkare on tap… I’m always up to buy a soundtrack from them, but that’s about it. :expressionless:

I’m banking on Japan’s immigration authorities taking her back. They’re pretty tough on visa overstayers.

I never thought I’d see the day when Black Lillith and Crimson Comics (that’s right a doujin company) made better dark games than Black Cyc. I say this in lieu of playing through the Cthulhu fan disk and thanks to one particuler ero scene, it has become the first eroge I regret playing and I don’t say that lightly. To list some eroge I’ve disliked:
1)The main Cthulhu game may have been shoddily written and had unappealing ero scenes, but its True End route was thankfully well written enough for me to enjoy (the only downside is that one could play that route without experiencing all the other ones and the story would make almost perfect sense, which certainly could not be said for MDB or GSS). Don’t regret playing it.
2) Doushin Same Heart had a stupid story and I could even hear the microphone when some of the VAs were talking, but I at least enjoyed the concept, the artwork was fine, and some of the ero scenes were good.
3) Discipline (and I only mean the game I actually like the anime better) may have been unappealing when it came to overall story and characters but the artwork was still good, there were a few good ero scenes, and it even made me laugh a few times.
4) Adam the Double Factor was a sequel to Eve burst error that deserved to be (and thankfully was) retconned, but ignoring the fanfiction grade characterizations of some of the returning cast (especially Kojiroh), the story did have some interesting points, the gameplay element of searching for clues was still fun and better done than in EBE, the artwork was good, and the anime scenes were well done too.

Anyway, to get back on track about the fan disk, I’m giving everyone here who likes Black Cyc a warning, save your money for something better if you don’t have the game, and for those who do have the game do NOT play the section that focuses on Anje and Tanpapa. There is an ero scene in that which you will not be able to unsee, this is something I want to unsee but can’t and this is coming from someone who played through the bad endings of GSS and Extravaganza and I never felt like wanting to unsee those scenes. If this is getting you curious to see this scene, then don’t, please. I know you think you want to see it, but you really dont. Like I said, I can’t unsee that ero scene; it’s too late for me, but it’s not too late for you

Oh, come on, now you’re just trying to get me to play the fandisc =P

Same - if it shows up on dlsite, I might have to give it a shot. On that note though, assuming the scene is something that fits in with the story, haven’t Black Cyc in some sense ‘succeeded’ by including it? It is after all a horror eroge, and I can certainly think of some scenes in the MKs where they were going for that effect.

Well, he sure got me curious

Seriously; one of the attractions about BLACK CYC is that almost nothing is going ‘too far’. The Mugen Kairou series has shown that Itou Hiro is a fan of pushing that boundary a bit. The idea that Great Hunting contains a scene that would make me want to claw out my own eyes is very tantalising and probably the best thing I’ve heard about the game.

A new full length Black Cyc eroge has been announced, titled Inunaki (??). Surprisingly, it doesn’t appear to be the game that Banya Izumi’s been writing throughout this year, nor does it feature any of Black Cyc’s other main writers. In fact, two of the four don’t have appear to have done any eroge scenario writing before, the third has only worked as a subwriter for one nukige, and the fourth was the listed subwriter for Cthulhu (not one of the mysterious writers who only appeared in the credits). Given last week’s announcement, this doesn’t look like a particularly promising new beginning.

First I was like…

…but then I was like…

…and soon remembered how sub-par B-Cyc has been all this time, so ended up like this.

True story. :frowning:

…you decided you’d rather play Ashita no Yukinojou instead?

Naw. Just use screens shots of it to show how I feel.

The Ultraman eyes with teaspoons though, always makes me laugh.

So, can anyone reccomend a replacement for Black Cyc for those of us looking for dark eroge with a good story?

Also, never thought I’d ask this, but anyone know what’s in store from White Cyc?

Give ruf a shot. The Rasen Kairou series are classics.

Sadly, I haven’t found a steady single source to replace the void BCyc has left in my shopping. However for just general “evil” story telling, ??? has been keeping me entertained. I only wish the plots were more “deep thinking” than they’re presented to be… although there’s some creative ideas here and there. For over the top tentacle and deformation mania, Tinkerbell’s Cyberworks division has certainly been carrying the torch. Where BCyc has mellowed out, they got a lot more brutal. However there isn’t much creativity from title to title, and they focus a lot on the insectiod variety. Once you’ve seen two or three titles, you’ve seen everything they can offer. It’s also just your basic uncreative rapefest stuff… no deep thinking or anything.

:expressionless:

Thanks for the suggestions, I’ll look into them once I have some money to spare. For now, I guess I’m just going to have to stick with what I got from Black Lillith, Crimson, and Atelier Kaguya for my dark eroge.

Still I have come across one game that could fill in the void for a bit. Has anyone here played Himegari Dungeon Master?
