I sort of neglected it for a bit when the supply of news about eroge sort of trickled to a halt for a bit and haven’t gotten back into it >_> I’ll try to do something soon.
The fact that she used MDB’s theme for a live performace (and that song as the “revelation” as it were) goes a long way proving how big the eroge was… and never got a MBD 2. Of course the sorry ass state BCyc is in right now, I probably should be grateful.
EDIT
I wonder if Princess X will feature the band. I mean, yea, the game setting is out of character for their music style: but so was Queen’s Gate Spiral Chaos.
It might be worth keeping an eye on one of Liquid’s newly announced eroges. It’s got Banya Izumi as the sole scenario writer, and it’s apparently his longest game so far (he spent all of 2010 working on it). If he manages to create a setting which allows him to make a game that delivers a strong scenario + characters in equal measure with the dark ero, then this may be the closest eroge in recent years that’s a true successor to Black Cyc’s best 2004-2008 eroges. Maybe that’s just wishful thinking on my part though, as in addition to it being by a brand that (afaik) has produced nothing but minimal story dark nukiges, the title, ??? ???, and the genre, ???ADV sort of suggest it’s going to be like most of the other dark titles he’s worked on since leaving Cyc.
Why doesn’t Black Cyc license the characters to a figure company like kotobukiya. They would get money with minimal investment, and fans could get something that wasn’t crap.(Seriously, I kill to have an awesome Yuuka figure.)
I don’t care for figurines at all (honestly, I don’t need/want desk decorations and I’ve enough clutter as it is) but if they released a Kaoruko figure I’d buy it instantly
Oh it’s way more than that. There are 13.5(depending on how you look at it) female characters in MinDeaD BlooD. If every character got a figure with all the outfits they wear most would have two figures and some would have three, factor in a lewd figure for each girl and that’s about ~42 figures 8) . Something else to consider though is that Evangelion had only two female protagonists yet they both received hundreds of different figures some based on little more than a drawing in an artbook. Imagine if MInDeaD BlooD got the same treatment, the figure count could exceed 9000.
I’ve played some of it. The scenario doesn’t suit the writer at all, which is likely to be the major flaw (writing is much too circuitous for this genre/unnecessary furigana, plus it’s very average text). Otherwise, not sure how to evaluate it without damning it with faint praise. Some of the art’s nice, but other than that, no other component appears to be particularly strong.
It’s not going to be a terrible game, and it’s certainly not going to be the worst eroge of September (Otomimi Infinity is looking like a nuclear level landmine), but so far, I can’t see anything that would make this worth preordering/purchasing at anywhere near full price in general terms. Even if someone had a particular interest in the monster girl components etc., I’d wait for reviews, as in this case, I don’t think it’ll be enough to override the game’s uninteresting feel, plus it’d be almost criminal to preorder this over some of September’s other titles.
