"Brave Soul" Petition

This petition is a request for Peach Princess to translate and port the game Brave Soul by Crowd. Due to be released in Japan at the end of this month. (Release date is 31 March 2001) I figured I’d start the petition now, so that when it becomes available for porting, it would be one of PeaPri’s first priorities. (With your help, of course!)

The reasons I want Brave Soul brought over are:

1. It’s a fantasy role-playing game
2. I think the Art is Excellent.
3. It has an interesting storyline concerning the Goddess of the Moon and the main girl in the game, Alicia.
4. A valid reason to complete the side quests in the game, which mostly concern the other women in the game. (so you can get all the graphics!)

-If you like / Don’t like what you see feel free to respond here. I like what I see, and it’s an RPG to boot! Only we can convince Peach Princess that this game needs to be translated. I await your responses.

Checked the links and they work. (I had to type them manually)

Well my reading is a bit piece-meal and shaky, but it seems like a fascinating actionRPG. You have my vote Doug.

I played Brave Soul’s demo just yesterday (which is available free for download at their website, guys ^^ only 7-8 megs)…and it’s pretty neat. Judging from what I have experienced in demo (which might have differences in various parts when the product actually comes out), I think this game might actually be easier to translate…mainly many many stuff are already in english or icons already. This might shorten some translation time, but on the other hand the playtesting time will be much longer than more simple games like X-change (for obvious reasons)…

What’s the game like? If you guys have played a japanese H-action-rpg game called divine[luv] it’s quite similar. However, for those who don’t even know what I am talking about, take brave soul as sorta like seiken densetsu (secret of mana?) kinda merged with Y’s. Basically you walk around slashing enemies, and at most you have 3 other partners with you in battle and they run on AI (like secret of mana), and the AI (I set it to auto in the demo) so far looks pretty good (well programmed).

But I do agree with da brat Kumiko that on the unfortunate side chances are you won’t see this title very soon at all, simply because the japanese version isn’t out yet in the first place (well will be out at march 30th), and second I agree with kumiko that games tend to have some “turnaround” time to “absorb” into the market, before crowd would want to do a port (but this is kinda not the case for Snow Drop for whatever reason so I dunno ^^), and third I am sure crowd would wand peapri to deal with their “current” (as in non-brand-new) titles first…seeing this title in English in the near future I believe is likely to be impossible (when peapri has other titles to deal with)…my guess would be by the end of this year you guys might get some hope? ^^

PS URL for demo is err…here:

Happy now? :stuck_out_tongue:

Lamuness,

Thanks for the demo link. I appreciate it.(Downloading as I write this!)

well, snowdrop might not be new in Japan, but in your line-up, it is the newest in terms of its original release date ^^

…love-sims, there are quite alot, but if I were to give peapri suggestion (from their standpoint), for starters, consider Emu’s titles. A new company that came out late last year with their first debut at late november 2000.

I just played their debut “Luna Season - The 1 in 150 lover” quite recently and it’s pretty nice IMHO. It’s a Comedy Love-sim, about the average school guy who believes that he has bad luck when it comes to girls, because he is famous all over the school for having 150 relationships in the past, and all 150 girls dumped the guy ^^ (hence the subtitle, I wonder if Kumiko is one of those 150 girls hehe). In addition he is also famous for being late for school 150 times for the past 3 years. The story starts out with the failure with your 150th girl (because of a big mistake you made, you go to the product link below and elingo the background story yourself ^^), and you go to school and the next thing you know is the school warns you that if you don’t put your act together (because of “poor records” especially the 150 late record) within a month you are in trouble (academically) when it comes to post-education recommendations. So you have a month to 1. get your act together so that the school doesn’t kick you out and 2. get your act together so that the 150th failed relationship “curse” doesn’t happen again. A couple of mini-games (school activity related) exist that pertain to your chance of “staying in school,” including managing a flea market booth, and managing lighting/sets for a school muppet play. Cute-looking girls, semi-loli ^^. There is one “drawback” (well not really a drawback depending on your taste) is that while there is good romantic endings, there is also ahem …sorry not sure if I wanna talk about this ^^ but there is also abuse/forceful acts/r@pe/whatever you wanna call it scenes if you get yourself towards a “bad ending”. But on the brighter side, if you feel somewhat uncomfortable with these themes, you can set the game to skip all these scenes…

The reason of this entire rant is because Emu is a sister plant/company to Crowd so it should not be as hard for peapri to talk to, compared to talking to a totally different company who might just ignore you at first contact.

enough ranting.

They had a demo of Luna Season awhile back but they took it offline recently, so oh well ^^

oops one more rant:
a brat is a brat. Very energetic means too much energy to cause trouble :stuck_out_tongue:

Forward my post? Make sure you forward that last line too :stuck_out_tongue: haha…and I am trying to give peapri some real suggestions too so… ^^ and hey, people here know that I am evil too wuuuuuuhhahahahhahahhahahahhaha ← (typical villian evil laugh)

Well well well, I’ve already got a ICQ message from orochi saying

"Aw…
You make K cried…"

well gee, I guess K has more influence on people on this place than I expected (although I would assume that K should be energetic enough to be able to take this kinda attacks :P)? Ugh…to prevent every other Kumiko-fan from sending me threat emails and mail bombs and stuff, I guess I would have to give in, and cure this br@t by the typical lollipop method:

Here’s your lollipop @--------

…just make sure you don’t let any of us down in the future okay? ^^

PS gee I wonder if there is such thing as a Kumiko fan-club or something to that effect. I definitely don’t want to be in it :stuck_out_tongue: but just wondering if people actually started one ^^

Te-Me Lamuness…

Omae ha honto ni nasakenai no otoko na…;–

For those of you who don’t know what orocho said:

Lamuness
You are one really heartless man

well I am not heartles, I am just evil :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m totally for supporting Doug’s petition!!!

Hmmmmmmm…

I really do not know, Doug, whether to side you or not, but right now…I really do not think I like the game…I find that there are more good-looking RPG games than that, especially with today’s standard… …I just cannot forget about Knights of xentar…yeah…I know about the piracy thing…but even then…there are games, in terms of graphics, that are better than Dragon knight 3…

Well…I feel that way right now…but I might change my mind after playing Lamuness’ demo and if I get more info about the game(the story)…oh yeah…no spoilers please…

However, I would do almost anything to get that game Emu and Luna season…The girls are cute… …and I just love sims game…( I am also an avid fan of Simcity ^^ )…and would love the idea of playing love-sims in english…I also love playing multiple-endings and multiple-choices…

Oh, well…v ^^

well, long time without a post from me, so, lets start!

Well, this brave soul game really rockx … and since it is from crowd it is a good petition to make but i agree with kumiko about elf graphics… until now, i havent seen a game with better graphics than elf produced[well, maybe one or two, but i dont remember ANY of them, so , it means that the story wasnt good enough]…
hey kumiko, i know that u will answer my question like u already did, but elf company still thinking like the other majority jap companies?[i mean, why to export if i can make money right here?]

I'm pretty sure Kumiko's fine in the cute department, although she would need Chemical X to truly have the vast array of super-powers that the PowerPuff Girls have.

Thoughts on the Demo:

-I really like how each of the women have their own specific fighting style. The spells or summoning ability each character has is pretty cool. (I especially like Ruby’s ability to create a duplicate of herself and her ability to suddenly appear at the Hero’s side during a fight.)

-I would have liked to have had a few different areas to explore, but this one Dungeon was O.K.

-I also liked how easy the save game function was to use, and that there was 10 save slots, but it would have been better if you could save anywhere.(This just may be a limitation of the demo, though)

Doug

Crowd made it clear at the beginning inthe disclaimer that the demo is just limited to the dungeon, which they created "just for the demo"

Also, I think it’s more like a hundred save slots, 10 pages of 10 slots each

Yes I figured that was the case on the Dungeon, and 100 save slots Rocks!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Lamuness!

Hey,

Hmm, it is indeed hard. What about the censorship in japan, I hate it ~_~

Kumiko, you should send me a pic of yours or just post it here hehe

Since this is the Brave Soul petition and those who have been on Crowd’s main Brave Soul page, I have a question for you:

-Which of the women do you like best and why?

Since I asked, so shall I answer:

I actually have two favorite characters, going on just visuals alone.

-Marine, because of her feline characteristics. (I like Cat girls)

-I also like Caren because she has that scholarly look about her. (If the Event picture is accurate she also uses tecnology, which will be interesting to see how its integrated into the game)

Anyone else want to answer the question?
