Demonbane summer 2010 release

i hope you are wrong about the face stuff cause that could suck

Erm, he explicitly said it was a joke.

Anyway, I’m with LexarV. After the debacle with XC3, they promised it wouldn’t happen again … and then it did with Family Project. They got a lot of flak for that (and I do mean a lot). Not that it was undeserved, but still … I would really hope they actually learned something from that experience.

And they DID explicitly promise to let us know how about things like this before the game came out.

Also, there may have been other localization decisions that had to be made … For example, this game references the Cthulhu Mythos quite a bit. Well, some of the terms weren’t spelled consistently. Cthulhu itself wasn’t spelled consistently in Lovecraft’s work, and he did that deliberately. And then there’s how to deal with honorifics; no matter how you do THAT, somebody gets upset.

As for HCG … Jast has exactly one time released a game with mosaiced CG. The limited edition release of Critical Point. And they had copies of that sitting around years later, and eventually had to sell them at $5 a copy to get rid of them. The only censorship that would be apparent just by looking at a CG would be mosaicing. If they redrew part of the CG to cover something up, the only way you’d be able to tell was by comparing it to the original CG.

Mosaicing doesn’t matter at all, really - HCGs look ridiculous without it anyway. What does matter is alterations made to the graphics beyond removing the mosaic layer and I hope JAST hasn’t had to do that with Demonbane.

sure it sucks to have it censored…

btw, i’m wondering here, will demonbane be with voice like what it look like in http://www.nitroplususa.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/demonbane_status.jpg, or will it be voiceless like koihime musou?

anyone can confirm?

It seems that poor Al has watched The Tape.

While they may not have always made the best PR moves, I highly doubt they would forget to mention that they were removing voices from the game. Koihime is a unique case due to the number and quality of VA’s involved, an issue that shouldn’t affect Demonbane thanks to the much smaller cast. So while I can’t give an “official” answer, I would say that this is one of those rare circumstances where it would be safe to assume that the voices will be intact.

“Rare circumstances”? Koihime is the singular exception to date, as far as I know. All other games have either been released with voice, or were localized versions of games that never had voice to begin with. It would be highly unlikely for Jast to cut voices out of a game anyway. They don’t have the money problems MangaGamer does, and I can’t think of a single reason that voice alone would be so controversial that the voices would need to be cut, but the rest of the scene itself would otherwise remain intact.

good to hear koihime is an only case, time to pre-order…

i’ve seen the new picture, compared to the anime, seems it is more comical, especially with this one http://twitpic.com/3yk0ld

what you guys think?

I meant of course it was a rare case where making ANY assumption was okay, and also pointed out that Koihime was a unique (read only) case. Probably could have worded it better but…

On another note my interest in Ruri has significantly increased now.

baseon was thinking koihime might not sell enough so they don’t want to give all the seiyu right over

I’m pretty sure it was MangaGamer not having enough money… ;_;

Mangagamer works differently from JAST. Mangagamer has clearly stated that BaseSon is funding the localization of Koihime Musou. I’m fairly sure JAST works the other way around; they pay developers for a license to sell their games. Part of the licensing fees go towards paying for the programming and art work on Nitro+'s end required to produce the English version.

Two very different business models, resulting in very different challenges.

Yeah. I’m pretty sure if Jast felt they might not be able to afford to license the game’s voice, they’d probably simply pass on the title.

It might be wise to look into the twitpic alternatives. This is less than 2 weeks later than the last time.

i am pretty sure there is nothing that can be done about it

Shingo can delete the spam comments manually. He did the last time. The question is, does he want to keep doing this indefinitely?

Depends whose patience wears off faster?
