Did Europe pass a new sex comic law?

There’s this adult site called Do Fantasy, that I buy digital comics from: particularly the issues by Lesbi K Leih. It’s a dark ero specialist based in Europe, that I feel produces some of the best… ahem… violent material for their particular niche.

To make a long story short: recent issues from Do Fantasy now have a page or two devoted to the fictional characters explaining that they are actors and actress (fictional mind you), who are about to consensually role-play rape scenes and whatnot ¬ñ for example it will have one of the girls tell one of the men, “I can’t wait for you to rape me! It will be so much fun! Let’s get on the set and do this!” It’s basically a visual disclaimer, by a fictional cast. Now don’t get me wrong: this doesn’t impact the actual story itself - but it did strike me as absurd, strange, and just a waste of time for the artist to draw instead of moar sex.

Since it’s so sudden a new standard, I’m thinking a new law was passed in Europe about sex comics. Anyone know of this?

i know germany just passed an anti-loli law

Dunno, but personally I like that sort of thing… I find girls eagerly exploring rape fantasies to be cute. I’ve seen it done in live-action porn too, although not often, but I don’t exactly watch much live-action porn.

I do identify as a feminist, and sometimes this causes me grief when other feminist groups are getting really bent out of shape over violent/non-consensual hentai. For me, there’s very little in hentai that can disturb me on its own, but it does sometimes bother me when I check the day’s new releases in DLsite and once again, the majority of them seem to feature crying, miserable girls viewed as prey rather than as partners. It makes me wonder whether the average DLsite shopper even understands that sex is supposed to be fun for both parties.

The simple addition of a framing device reminding us that this IS all in fun knocks that worrying little voice out of my head.

I just noticed that Do Fantasy changed their “legal disclaimer” to mention the new policy. However they clearly have a sense of humor over it. As taken from their site:

All characters are 18 years old or older. This website contains entirely fictional work based on cartoon characters for adult entertainment. It shows no real people or events. The characters are shown participating in CONSENSUAL role-play for their own personal satisfaction, simulating activities which involve sexual dominance and submission. No toons were harmed in the making of these comics.

Overall it’s harmless - and I suppose it keeps them out of hot water and makes their lawyers happy… but being a new change, it was just something so bold face obvious. :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s unfortunate. :frowning:
I know Do Fantasy doesn’t touch loli - probably the only taboo they enforce on their artists.

Yea… I’ve noticed the DLSite trend of being more “dark ero” than anything else. I suppose it’s really a reflection of what actually sells there. Especially when I look at the top download lists. It’s like 9 out of 10 titles are rape or bondage. I admit being a contributor to those sales… but I buy more than just that.

Errrr… Europe isn’t one monolithic country, you know? Even if one European country did, it doesn’t mean any other did, or will do. It even means less that anyone living in any other country knows about it.

Officially, our legislation is extremely severe (ALL the porno stuff imported in Italy is forbidden). Unofficially, almost anything goes, if done with discretion AND if it pays the 20% VAT + other assorted taxes on time.
An attempt to introduce a new, additional 25% tax on porno was stifled by public outcry just two years ago, I don’t think our current government is interested in this topic, now.

Do not underestimate those bored bureaucrats, however…

That’s just plain silly. I’m a stark raving lunatic, and I know drawings are not real. At least not the black and whit ones

Everything is legal in Eastern Europe.
You can even legaly “buy” a wife there.

On the opposite side of Europe, there is a country where everything is illegal : Greece.
Even tetris is illegal in Greece. Why ? I don’t know… probably to troll the other European countries.

LOL… I don’t know what goes on with European law these days. One week you’re all THE European Union and more united than the American States. Next week you’re reminding each other about cultural identity and national sovereignty, exclaiming the EU is non-binding. Besides… my map clearly shows there’s nothing on that side of the ocean except Europe, England, and Commies. USA! USA! USA!

On a more serious note: I think DO Fantasy is based in the Netherlands (at least according to my Paypal billing). Any visitors from there who knows about new laws? :expressionless:
I’ll see if my Google Search-Fu is any good…

This obviously was not updated. No mention of Mexicans inflitrating the US, Europeans as being seen as backwater (except no escalators), China & India stealing those jobs & Japan as the “Fifty-first state”

I thought it had always been illegal in Germany? The only new law I can recall is that they illegalized overtly sexual-looking child modeling.

the UK is in the process of passing a law called “Extreme Porn” law that should come into effect in January 2009. I am not a lawyer so the following comment is my understanding and might be wrong.

the way I understand this extreme porn law is simply, anything that combine sex and violence (real or acting) that be it drawn (anime/manga/comic) or live action is going to be deemed illegal to sale or own. This by the way including scenes where the male … errr… actor(?) might but his hand around the nick of the female actor(?).

there was a case couple of years ago where a man kidnapped, raped and strangled to death a young woman in the UK. The police discovered that he was browsing strangulation sex sites before he did what he did. And this law is passed to… mmm… protect the children and vulnerable adults from normal people who might become beasts after viewing such materials. (note: the fact that the man in this case was “oppsest” (spelling?) with strangulation sex for “years before the incident” is being overlooked while passing the “extreme porn” law.)

there was a protest about this in the last couple of weeks and S&M actors said that this law threaten their livelihood Government tied in knots by bondage protest

Glad to see I’m not the only person who remembers that joke published in an old issue of the now defunct magazine (even what it became, “Games for Windows: The Official Magazine”, is no longer printed) Computer Gaming World (R.I.P.).

I don’t remember when exactly this was printed, but I believe it was in the late 90s (i.e. 98, 99) or early 00s (00, 01, 02).

I remember the day when CGW was still published, i was still a teenager back then. Ah… Good time, but shame that CGW is no longer printed, shame :frowning:

Loli isn’t,though.
Btw, the game banning law is only there so we can pay a fine to the EU. It’s not actually being enforced.

Well there could be some sort of general european law\regulation about the subject(theres tons of new laws and regulations being made every week at the EU) but people bear im mind that the EU\european comission focus is in food and economic regulation not in a “niche porn” those these subjects are matters to be treated by each country. Simply put in europe you have it all to pretty much everthing allowed to complete censure but in the end it alls comes to the fact that if its not child porn and has its taxes payed well it gets out .

No, the only general regulation in EU is the chicken asses gaugage/sizing/calibration (choose the right word) since we have to be sure that each european country produce eggs of the same size => serious business.

Okay, just read this post. Now even the G8 are getting involved…

Berlusconi can push all he wants for an international agreement for regulating the internet, for all the good it will do him. I highly doubt that Obama would go along with such a move. Besides, I don’t know how Berlusconi could think that convincing the nations in the G8 could get a true international consensus on such an agreement.

Berlusconi likes to be under the spotlight, but…knowing him as any italian does, I’d say he has probably already forgotten everything he said about internet regulation. Besides, I don’t think he can get any personal gain from it, so it’s probably not a primary point in his agenda.
