I want discussion!

Hey people, what happened to this BBS?

The Virtual-Mate wars are over, why aren’t we happily discussing bishoujo games and other things together? Why does barely anyone even post?

Lurkers, please also post! I know you are there!

Apologies to Lamuness for putting this in the wrong forum. I felt that if the posting was this bad, people wouldn’t even check the Off-Topic forum.

Lack of recent news?

Um… I’m still waiting for Ever17 to come out… still selling copies of Summer Schoolgirls… still working on Kishi Kawaii (which is now basically hitting beta, but my attempt to recruit testers from this board last time completely failed)… pondering sending Kishi to the IGF…

But that’s all pretty much stuff you could have said about me a month or two ago as well, with the obvious exception of changes in KK’s progress.

We’re all busy playing our newly acquired VM-less games.

I too have noticed things have gotten very quiet lately. No games have been released for a few months, this is pretty typical when there’s no releases. I imagine things will pick up somewhat when Doushin is released. BTW When was that supposed to happen?

Not that anyone cares, I just got notice that my copy of Lets Meow Meow is on its way. Shortly I should be able to confirm the correct functionality of that patch. That brings my collection up to date, now if I could just find time to play them all.

Losing g-coll really slowed down the new releases schedule. We are now down to 1 game every 1-2 years from peapri. If there is no new game nearing release, then what else is there to talk about?

Don’t discount the hirameki games just because they’re not getting jiggy with it!

… yes, I’m really keen on Ever17. Here’s hoping it lives up to my expectations…

Actually, I would have liked Figures of Happiness better without the sex scenes. The writing of the naughty bits was… very much not my style. I was torn between laughing and groaning most of the time. And the telltale squelchy-squelchy noises! Twas a hoot.

I'm still waiting to hear whether the former VM games will be rereleased without the registration hooks. It's great not having to worry about connectivity during game play, but if there will be a completely Internet-free release in the future, I'd like to know before I buy.

Id have to agree, not much to discuss now… We could always go over what we played, but as for whats to come… not much there now.

sorry, currently in vacation mode now…just went to comic market in japan a few weeks ago maybe i should post some photos for you guys (if you havne’t seen the ones olf posted already)

doushin testing should be started by now, handled by ladyphoenix

Can I test Kishi Kawaii? I"m always up to try new games. As long as it isn’t a virus in disguise.

I've done my part, lately, but... hey, I'm a LURKER, after all!!
Besides, with no new English b-games NOW, our topics of discussion are severely limited. And even if our beloved Japanese erogames still give us GREAT joy -these big news, for example, confirm my strong belief in the advantages of Procrastination-, I suspect that discussion topics of this nature would be a depressing reading for most members (Japanese-illiterate) of this BBS...

depends on how relentlessly dedicated you are. this is a Princess Maker style game. sim/stat management and monster killing. There are at least 50 endings depending on how you count. And the last people I tried to recruit for testing from here never sent one single piece of feedback, making me rather grumpy.

So if you’re not a diehard PM/RPG fan willing to play through things over and over and over again, you’re probably better off waiting until the official demo testing comes around (which will be more of a ‘Does this RUN on your PC?’ test.)

* nods *
Currently still playing this. But if I would write a raving review regarding it like I did for Suzukuri Dragon, I fear a few people here are going to go ballistic...

When I’m not frantically fixing bugs and adding features, I’m playing Fate.

http://www.fatethegame.com/

Take Diablo 2, make everything slightly more cutesy, remove the plot, add a trainable pet and a fishing minigame, and you have Fate.

It’s sort of mindless (No plot whatsoever. Kill stuff, get treasure, kill more stuff. Quests only consist of getting extra points for killing particular stuff.) but entertaining.

I’ve been busy myself, planning my wedding, dealing with some life changes, and working on a couple of game titles for PeaPri.

I’ll do my best to get through the Doushin testing quickly guys, so you can all have ta this great game . Not too quick though, gotta do a good job

Perigee, the versions available right now can be installed completely VM-free. Let me elaborate while it's all still fresh in my head.

When you put the CD in for the first time and click play/install, all GC games pop up a dialog box asking what pieces you want to install. All the old games, your only options were "Game Application" and "DirectX". The 5 VM games have an additional checkbox called "Virtual Mate Launcher". Just un-check that box and VM will NOT be installed.

I'm quite anal about what exactly is installed on my PC, and I made very sure that VM was indeed NOT installed.

This was true for all 4 that I bought except for one (Pick Me Honey I think). That one didn't have the VML checkbox on the install menu, but even so it did NOT install VM. Apparently that game requires you to install VM separately and doesn't do it for you automatically.

Then, after installed, go to the GC support site, type in the 24 (?) digit key code from the back of the VM manual inside the box, and you'll be able to download the patch for the game. You can download the patch 5 times. They say to delete the patches after installation, but I think I'll be saving them on a CD in case I need them later. Anyway I'm not sharing them with anyone, and that's what's important.

Verified the unpatched versions tried to phone home, applied the patches, and confirmed that everything works perfectly after applying the patch. (Verified with an unplugged ethernet cable and disabled wireless).

Of course you can still wait if you want to, but you don't have to. And who knows for sure if they'll ever do another print run.

I've done some PC game dev work in the past and the title sounds very interesting. I liked Summer Schoolgirls and your magic school game a lot. How far along is the build? I would be definitely interested. Should I contact you through your company site to find out what help you may need?

Thanks for the replies, everyone.

I would have thought people would be discussing G-Collections’ last 5 games, now that Virtual-Mate has been removed, enabling everyone to buy and play them. Especially Figures of Happiness.

As for upcoming games, there’s Doushin, and the Hirameki games. I haven’t seen that much discussion about them.

Even with not many upcoming games, I got the impression from looking back at topics from years ago that the board was still fairly active.

Then there’s also the insanity thread. Though that pretty much died months ago.

Myself I have a backlog of bishoujo games on which I have not unlocked everything, and then there are also other games.

Some of us have had VM-Less games since they were first translated, and we’re STILL so far behind on games, we haven’t finished anything since Crescendo came out. (Mind you, I’ve played the newer since then, just haven’t finished all the paths.)

Between working on a Masters, and lacking anything interesting, I haven’t had anything to say.

Tho I’m half-tempted to offer a kinda weird interview to Lady Phoenix and Papillion about my 8 months at G-Collections, just to make some news.
