The metioned this on J-list.

First liscense is Demonbane, according to the site.

now peach princess should get xchange A2 or 3 methods to conquer the world

They should get some darker stuff IMO.

So, someone want to tell me about these titles and why I should care?

Since I’m simple and shallow I can only think of one reason: they look great. :stuck_out_tongue: I’m positive someone can come up with a better answer though.

demonbane is good for fans of cthulu mythos and H.P. Lovecraft
they also had chaos;head, phantom of the inferno and saya no uta

Why to care?
Well so far… everything I’ve played from Nitro+ has been gold in my opinion.
Saya no Uta, Phantom of Inferno, Chaos;Head…

I think Nitro+ might be the best company to reach a broader gaming audience; and expand the customer base…
Western gamers who might have avoided or don’t know about these kinds of games before might be willing to try these games when they notice the action and big sci-fi plots. [Good reviews I hope too!] And once they play them and find out there’s more than just action to these games… it could lead them to seek other titles!

Also, Phantom Requiem started internet streaming on Funimation not long ago… If word was spread to Requiem fans that the company who originally created Phantom was Nitro+ and that their games are getting translated…
Also, if Funimation picks other Nitro+ related anime titles, it possibly could be meaningful for JAST, and might be worth some kind of joint advertising or consulting or something… (it’s a stretch but… but you never know)

My background on why I’m a Nitro+ fan :
I wouldn’t be addicted to visual novels and the like if it hadn’t been for Nitro+'s Phantom of Inferno…
Discovered the best bad ending ever, literally dropped my jaw and punched the computer as I was floored by it… (actually it was just end of chapter 1, but the DVD player froze! and it froze at exactly the end of the chapter… Seriously though, best bad ending ever imo…)

Well, Nitro+ makes some of the best dark-themed stuff in the whole eroge market. We’re talking about story-centered games here, with developed plots and characters. Although I can’t say I’m an eroge-veteran, Saya no Uta is definitely one of the best visual novels I’ve played so far. Very ‘Call of Chtulhu’-esque setting and plot, great graphics and sound, psichologically scary. A masterpiece.

If you like lighter stuff…well, you should try at least one of their games. They’re just too good to pass on.

I’ve heard of Saya no Uta, would be interested in that. However, the name ‘Demonbane’… Wasn’t that a fairly dumb anime with the necronomicon as a magical girlfriend?

I don’t know the anime that you’re talking about, but I don’t think it has anything to do with the visual novel.

Certainly seems to be related:

Kishin Hoko Demonbane

I only saw a little of it, but was not impressed, and the reviews here suggest other people weren’t either. I have no idea how similar to the games it is though…

Yes, just found out making a quick search on Wikipedia. Demonbane is not a game I’ve played, but knowing Nitro+, I’m quite sure it’s a pretty good title. So, I think it’s probably a bad adaptation.

Uh, thanks for the repost? I already posted the info during the panel last night.

Well, I wouldn’t judge the game based on the anime; the 12 ep TV show was probably based somewhat on the one OVA episode that came with the PS2 port Demonbane game…

Anyways, the track record for Nitro+ inspired anime seem somewhat low anyhow [not that I’ve seen much of it, just heard from others]… The original Phantom animation is poor compared to the game… The chaos;head anime got somewhat painful reviews…
On the other hand I think Phantom : Requiem for the Phantom their latest title (?) is doing well (at least by review). Which I’m looking forward to watching sometime!

But, the games are what they do best~

http://www.nitroplususa.com/ << that bit was new

I didn’t expect that JAST would be able to work with Nitro+. So I’m glad that the company is able to translate games which aren’t from the Will corporation.

In the recent past, Yandere Translations has reviewed some Nitro+ games. The writer wasn’t especially pleased with Sumaga, but was quite impressed with Hello World.

The all ages version of Demonbane is categorized on Himeya Shop as “Novel & 3D Robot Action.”

Nitro+ Chiral has released at least three BL games: Togainu no Chi, Lamento, and Sweet Pool. I was at a Shira Oka panel at ACen 09, and I seem to recall one of the female staff behind that in-the-works game liked Nitro+ Chiral’s games. But since JAST has a backlog of in-progress translations, even if one of these were licensed right away, it could be years before a translation got finished…

I did a few searches for Togainu no Chi, and found a discussion at sleepisfortheweak.org which seemed relatively familiar with BL games. The person described it as a “…stealth porn game, specifically of the Boy’s Love variety. It’s about a post-apocalyptic street brawl community and drug conspiracy…”

I found a fansite for Lamento, and a description of the game on Eroge Shop, but they didn’t clarify much about the plot…

My attempt to learn more about Sweet Pool resulted in some success. An individual on Livejournal discussed it at length, and praised it for being a unique horror game.

That’s what reply is for. :stuck_out_tongue:

Sorry, I didin’t notice the AX thread. I found the link on J-list.

YES YES YES. I love Nitro+ Hopefully we might get Black Cyc games next

Good news !

I just finished Phantom of inferno (one of my favorite VN now) so I’m happy to hear that.

We will be more and more busy in the future

Yeah, that’s why they’ve been trying to expand over the past year. Traditional Nitro+ doesn’t do very well in Japan anymore, so they want to revitalize the company by targeting overseas audiences. In addition to the games, they worked on Blassreiter with Gonzo, as well as the new Phantom anime with Bee Train.

It’s okay…

The story has translated well, which is probably why the show is popular with new viewers. However, the script treatment is rather clunky, and the cinematography is utterly deficient (although I hear that Bee Train is always mediocre in this regard).
