(I hate this particular plotline. I believe Clannad is the only title that actually used the more general variant of it properly, since it fed into the main themes of the story; in other titles it’s a catalyst and not a particularly well-used one. I think that if you need to use a catalyst like this that doesn’t have any real impact on the wider story, you should either go with something so mundane people don’t notice it - just by using the school, for instance - or go all-out and throw in something original)
