Lets Meow Meow and v-mate

Well my friend thought he would purchase Let’s Meow Meow because he has a weakness for cat girls. So only after a day he loaned it to me he was so frustrated with it. Seems V-mate system causes alot of computer issues. Since he installed it he kept locking up while playing the game… and sure enough I have locked up more than 5 times in an hours time playing the game… and I MEAN TOTAL LOCKUP the type where you have to reset the computer by the reset button… TOTAL lockups not just software. Seems this V-mate sure wasn’t properly tested on english computer systems… We both run Win2k.

Molitar, i’m currently writing an article regarding this V-Mate. Can you post here your computer specs? If not, please send me a message at www.forumeye.it , Animeye/Henteye subsection, thanks. I’m interested in your opinion on the matter.

MSI Nforce2 Mainboard
Atlon Barton Core 3200
128Meg Geforce4 Ti4400
primary drive ATA133
2 storage drives SATA
Tried older nforce2 drivers and the latest ones
Windows 2000
Service Pack 4
512 megs PC3200
8x PX-702 DVD Writer
52x Plextor Premium CD Writer

After the problems I tried defragging my drive again, I tried the older and the newer nforce2 drivers, and I am using the latest Nvidia Drivers for my video card. I get lock ups at least every 10-20 minutes playing and I have to reset my computer by the reset switch. I have played many games and not a lockup once until this game… I have ran 3DMark 2003, Burnin Test 3.x, Everquest II, Starwars Galaxies, World of Warcraft, and many other games that tax the system with no problem but this game from G-Collections freezes the entire computer.

How about we try some troubleshooting?

Try turning off your sound in the game, or if that fails, disable the relevant drivers in device options. You could also try disabling your video drivers, if possible. Windows should still function without the primary video drivers (I’m not sure if the game would still run, though). Then try the game and see if it still locks up. Also, you could try running the game in safe mode. If we can narrow down the problem, then it’ll make it easier to solve.

Or you could get a real home-user OS.

Doesn’t vmate only stay active the very beginning to verify the game? I haven’t had any problems with vmate in either hitomi or LMM. Guess I could check to make sure vmate only starts up in the beginning then closes itself.

Dunno, but I’ve never heard about people having trouble running any GC titles before (well, okay, some have, but they were obviously running pirated copies).

Figuring out the cause of the crashes will be interesting. I hate to say it but if you absolutely cannot figure it out, perhaps your best bet is trying to return the game?

and are YOU going to pay for it, Benoit?

I had to be upgraded to 2000 against my will. I am so not touching XP. Useless batch of shiny buttons...

Err you do know you don’t have to use the shiny buttons in XP right? But anyways… 2000 Shouldn’t be causing an issue in and of itself, 2000 & XP are practically identical under the hood…

Btw I myself am running Win XP Pro, so I don’t get why someone would think that every should want to run the ‘home’ version… anyways, anyone who is running XP in my opinion should run Pro anyways, home was made by pulling stuff out of Pro… makes more sense to me to run something without a bunch of holes where ‘component X’ was supposed to be…

Don’t need Pro. I read the features list, and I didn’t need any of that stuff. Why pay extra for something I don’t need?

I believe Benoit was saying that anything above Win95/Win98 isn’t home user-friendly.

Actually I think he was referring to 2K. Technically XP is the next iteration of 2K but it has a bunch of stuff added in to be home-user-friendly.

I would agree with you, except this is Benoit we're talking about. Conventional logic need not apply. But I'm sure Benoit himself will clarify soon enough.

Eep! No, I'm a poor student that has trouble getting enough money for games.
Never mind that XP is expensive as hell...

I fully agree.

Nope. Windows 2000 is a NETWORK OS. Not a home OS, and not designed with games in mind.

Not at all. XP is even TOO user-friendly that it's sickening and treating you like an idiot. That's why computer-illiterate idiots love it so much.

And what exactly does THAT mean? >_<

Wohoha!
We have almost the same configuration, Molitar - about my office PC, i mean.

Have you tried troubleshooting or changing password as V-Mate states?

EDIT: Now now, DS, don’t point at Benoit in unclear terms… Please clarify and let’s not start another flame, mmkay? Peace, guys, peace.

Ok, so far I’ve estabilished two bugs:

a) the 56K modem bug. It connects everytime a Save/Load event occurs - at least in one case.

b) this Win 2K bug Molitar reported to us.

Anyone has more infos on other V-Mate bugs?

@ Lamuness

I realized the game isn’t worth the candle. As i said to Peter, this proved to be dangerous for my personal health.
