Looking for opinions

First off, Hello!

I am rather new to the Bishoujo game genre, and have just recently started to collect them.

Since stumbling onto a website with Princess Maker 2 by accident a few months ago I got exposed to the wonderful world of Bishoujo gaming.

I started looking for more of them immediately and found Peach Princess. Well, needless to say I couldn’t help myself and ordered all of their titles, (well save for Water Closet, though I believe I will break down and get that one this month or next.)

Shortly after I ordered all their titles, and preordered their others. Then G-Collections appeared on the scene, and I stumbled on JAST. Sheesh, never knew there were so many titles out their not in my collection.

Here is my little bind, I am trying to keep myself down to a couple games a month rather than just spurging and buying them all at once. I was wondering what games people think are the best to get.

I own these games.

Peach Princess: All save for Water Closet.
G-Collections: Private Nurse, Kango.
JAST: Anime Poker, Transfer Student.
Misc: Love Love Show. (Yuck.)

Of the other titles out there what do you all believe are the best to get first? New or old game, it doesn’t matter to me.

Thanks in advance,
Ally

P.S. Do these games stay around a good while, or do I need to worry about them disappearing before I can buy them?

Definitely Chain. And Kana. Aside from that, I haven’t played anything that isn’t on your list. Well, at least, anything that is actually available for purchase now. More are always on the way…

My all time favorit game is and would ever be “SEASONS OF THE SAKURA”.

Beside this there are many good games out there it depends on your taste. So it’s hard to give you a proper device.

My only help is…gotcha √©m all.

By the way WELCOME to this board.

MFG R.

hi hi hi! welcoming bounces for you! ::bounce bounce bounce::

as for recommendations, i also highly recommend Chain and Kana, as well as Eve: Burst Error, Adam: The Double Factor, and Gloria

if you want more info on some of these titles, check out my website

http://engbishoujo.tripod.com

Thank you for the quick replies! All of your opinions are greatly appreciated.

As for my taste in games, Rammstein… it all boils down to the story. I enjoy games with a good plot, and well developed characters. But there are alway exceptions to this rule of course.

For example - I love SIM games like Princess Maker.

----------

Lady Phoenix, the website was VERY helpful and easy to use. I love it! And will definantly donate to it in the near future. (I know how expensive those bandwith costs can get!)

----------

The titles everyone suggested are all titles I was already looking at. But, I was wondering if these titles are any good as well.

Divi Dead
Desire
The Maid’s Story (The SIM part of this game looks rather amusing, and lots of fun. But that is just my opnion of course.)

Again, thanks in advance!
Ally

Well, I really like:

G-collections: Kana, Chain.
Himeya: Gloria, Maid’s Story, Desire, Divi-dead.
Jast: 3 Sisters’ Story, Season of the Sakura.

The Himeya ones can be had for a pretty good price at animenation.com.

Also, Jast is coming out with their “Memorial collection” which will be 3 Sisters’ Story, Season of the Sakura, and one other, all on one CD for only $20.

Anyways, I’ll welcome you as well. (But without the lemon fresh scent, sorry…) As for those three games, I thought each was good in it’s own way. Divi Dead was a good horror storyline (though I still don’t understand the thing with the mustard.) Desire was an interesting mystery/sci-fi story. And I did enjoy The Maid’s Story as a SIM more than for the “night lessons” but the main thing ws that it was fun right?

As for the how long the games stay around for, it sorta depends on how long the company lasts. (Okay, so I’m plugging for support of PeaPri… ) Fortunately, stuff like the memorial collection that Nameless Mojo-san mentioned do keep the games in circulation.

Back from the weekend, I have to give you a WELCOME as well and give my advices:

a) Kana and Chain should be a "must-by" for you, if you like good stories. That goes even more for Eve Burst Error (and a little but for Adam: The double factor) as well.

b) DiviDead has a very confusing story, but also a very captivating thriller-atmosphere.

c) Desire has a intriguing story, but sometimes, it become really brutish

d) As said before, you should also give the old JAST-titles (after they are re-released in february as a collection) a thought. At least, "Season of the sakurs" and "Three sisters story" are perfect examples, how good even older games can be.

e) Priorize other games over W.C.. It's not a striking example for a quality bishoujo-game to say the least.

f) While "The Maid Story" is still the only available localized training-SIM, it is most likely to disappoint you with it's storyline and very repetitive text.

That's it for now. Hope, you feel comfortable here and become a regular.

I can only speak for Kana, but that game should be in every B-game fan's collection! It has a good story, it's moving and it'll make you cry! *makes a sad, yet happy face*

Again, I agree. Seson of the Sakura and Three Sisters Story are games that had good (even if I myself throught that Three Sister's Story got a little too serious at times) stories and offered quite a lot of freedom and enjoyment. Both games had some tiresome aspects of them, through, but as they say: any game has its small flaws, no matter how great it is .

I think i agree about that. Now, I do say that because that I've got no taste for scat and such (but if you do have a taste for that, feel free to get it), but even so I think there's better bishoujo games you could spend your money on.

Still, to quote you, it's still a good reason to get it: Because that it's the only so-far english-localized SIM avliable here. I say that you should follow this advice, unless a new and better SIM pops up meanwhile, which is not likely to happen for quite some time. Maid's Story might not be as good a game as some of the other Maid/Slave-training-SIMS that are avliable at the Japanese market, but it is still worth a try

Why, I wonder...

i personally give a big thumbs-up to all three of those titles, Divi-Dead, Desire, and Maid’s Story…i loved all three

Lemons… Should I dare and ask?

Both collections are on preorder as we speak. I am hoping they get enough interest in these re-released titles and do another release of “True Love.” Keep hearing about that game and would love to have it!

The main reason why I am even bothering to buy W.C. (When ever that day comes along.) Is to offer my support to PeaPri, I love the company and want them to live on. Only way that will happen is if they have a good paying customer base, so I am trying to do all that I can.

As for becoming a regular around here. You can count on it. The Bishoujo comunity has gotten my attention, now they have to put up with me being around.

You probably shouldn't but if you plan on hanging out here, the lemons are a fact of life...

That's perfectly valid. I'll admit I'm not completely comfortable with the subject matter in WC myself but I do enjoy some of the humor and I thought the little "trick" in the gameplay was interesting. It's another title that's nice to add to one's collection but isn't exactly a "must have" and it's definitely not one you want to use to introduce someone to the genre.

Oh don't worry, so far it seems like you'll fit in. Though if you really want to have some idea how things sometimes go around here, you might want to go through that extremely long 29 page thread. That'll give you a quick idea of what you're getting yourself into here. Well here’s my suggestions from another person who likes plot/story games that are linear.

Definately get Chain and Eve burst error if you like detective stories. They both have a very good plot and take a fairly long time to finish. Chain feels almost like playing a movie. Eve is different in that you play 2 characters and have to switch off between them to advance the plot.

Adam the Double Factor the sequal to Eve and is also good but the translation is a little rough and the Cliffhanger ending which leads to the next game(which was never translated) might leave you a little upset.

If you like horror/occult then definately get divi-dead the story and music is great. The visuals and sounds really sets the mood for this game.

Desire is kinda si-fish but it’s really interesting how the story is told. After you finish the story with one character there’s alot of the story that isn’t explained until you play again as another character and more of the mystery is revealed.

These next few games are multi-ending advs so they aren’t linear in the sense that everything leads to 1 ending.
Kana is a total emotional trip. The story is top notch. The character development is top notch. The only problem with this game is that the story is really sad and the characters so believable that you can’t help but cry during certain parts of the game. I got 1 ending for Kana almost a month ago and I haven’t gotten back to playing it yet because I dont’ know if I can handle seeing Kana die again. It’s definately one to get but maybe not one you wanna replay often.

Private nurse is also very good I only got 1 Maria ending but I played this right after Kana and couldn’t really get myself to try for the other endings, yet.

I’m playing Tottemo Pheremone right now and it’s a blast. After playing 2 serious games in a row this is definately something I needed. Pretty much a light hearted game like Kango. Just found out that this is a sequal to another game, too bad that one isn’t released here.

There’s more games I have but these are the ones that I really liked/played recently.

Hey, don't go recommending The Thread that Never Ends to newbies. We scared off the last few that were brave enough to show up.

That thread is dedicated to, well, being off-topic. That's more or less what we do here. (Honestly, it's more true than not.) That thread has died down some since the initial flurry of activity, but every once in awhile something will cause another hail of posts.

That is honestly a very frightening thread for a newbie. It's 29 pages of utterly random junk, some of it poetry, some of it _in foreign languages_. It also uses most of the in-jokes on this board at one point or another, so a newbie won't even understand half of it. (Then again, if you're insane like the rest of us, feel free...)

Well, first of all, you should keep in mind, they are not just simple lemons, but vampire lemons. If I recall coreectly, they were imported by Zorian.
At the time I joined this board, they usually were held responsible for anything, that went wrong (for example: delays in release dates). But in the meantime, they were trained by Spec-san and have become the pets of our goddess Ladyphoenix-sama. However there are rumors, some wild untrained lemons still wreak havoc on future releases (almopst confirmed by the recent delay-annoucements for "X-Change2" and "Brave Soul").

If you main objective with that is to support PeaPri, that's just fine. I only wanted to prevent you getting p***ed off by that game and probably turn your back on the whole genre afterwards.

O.K., in that case you have to decide to become a FWOBIGOLS or a NTFWOBIGOLS!

Yep, you should ^_^. As most people here says, it only takes an itsy-bitsy-bite before you realize that ALL the lemons are your friends .

Ah, too true, -_-. There's still some lemons that are avoiding me, but don't worry, in time I'll get 'em all! (Gotta catch 'em all!) .

Beside, as punshiment for avoiding me, all newly-catched lemons have to dance in Tutu's before the Goddess until she forgives them . Some of them becomes so fond of her that they stay with her as her personal Lemon Tutu Brigade . Now, a word of warning! Never try to hurt any goats, kittens or lemons in here! If you do, the Goddess may send the Lemon Tutu Brigade after you, or cast the horrible Bishoujo-curse over you (that curse causes all bishoujo games to "avoid" you; no matter who you'd order a game from, it will always stray away soemwhere along the path to your home...).

Now, now, he just got here, so give him some time to decide whenever he should join either side . Not that I can see what would be so good about being a NTFWOBIGOLS
