Secret DOR-Fanclub has opened?

I just visited our goddesses page and looked at the poll-results.

Truly… fascinating…

I wouldn’t have thought, DOR would have such an audience, because 83% (30 in total) of the polltakers seem to be completely ecstatic about all the G-Collections-games, including DOR…

Well, someone here said before that at the time DOR was made, it might have been counted as a very good game *but not now, anyway(, but if you think of DOR compared to other older games, it might seem better than it actually is .

Then, again, some people may just like it, for no special reason at all…

Depends on the point of view actually. I havn’t played Chain or DOR yet, so I didn’t feel right saying that only “some, not all, are good.” But I felt I could get behind the “they’re wonderful” because it’s wonderful that they’re out at all, and I’m all for more translated games. Anyways, that was the reasoning behind my vote.

i was surprised by the overwhelming vote for all the g-collections games too, especially since so many expressed their distaste for DOR

Actually, I wanted to tease those, who simply make a selection and perhaps even don’t know about all the things, they decide.

Do you know that on the NEC-PC-98 already two sequels to DOR existed? If G-Collections looks at the poll results and comes to the same conclusion as this threads title tells, we might see both of them among the nameless announced 6 titles…

At least, they would be much easier (and thus more likely) localized, than other dream-titles like “Air”, “Kanon” or “Canvas”. (O.K., “Canvas” is too new to be considered now anyway…)

*blinks*
Hey, that means you're teasing me doesn't it?!? That's it, I curse you to work in a place just like my workplace where every little bit of hope you ever had gets crushed on a regular basis!!!! MUUUUHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

I think I need to get away from work more...

Actually, that would raise an interesting question. Do you think people from G-Collections are going to fan sites to see how their products are doing? I know some companys do stuff like that.

Hey, but we can still hope for those dream titles anyways right? (After all, how many of us thought Kana would ever get translated?)

I already do, so what?
(O.K., at least my superior doesn't call me a "minion", but that's the difference, I suppose.)

Well, I know that Ladyphoenix-sama asked G-Collections official permission to use material from their games, so I suppose they at least know about her website and thus, a visit there is more likely than on any other bishoujo-related website. (From a salesman point of view: If you got somewhere ads for free, wouldn't you like to know, how they look like?)

Of cause, never let the hope die (but patience is another matter... ).
Regarding "Kana", I was lucky: Before it was released, I even didn't know it exists (you know: ignorance is bliss... ), so I couldn't have dreamed of it before (only in the meantime, while they were not accepting payments from not-american creditcards).

Hmm, I did know about the existence of Kana thanks to some of the people here who plays Japanese games, so that was a game I wanted to see released in english, so the release of Kana was a very nice surpise .

"Kanon": 1999.6.4
"Air": 2000.9.8
"Canvas": 2000.11.24
"Too new"?

You have a point there.
I assumed "Canvas" was newer. I see, I was mistaken...

Great! Now I once again have to make up my mind, what I am going to order this month!

Perhaps you confuse the initial release with the DVD edition? The latest editions are:

* Kanon all-age edition: 2000.1.7
* Air all-age edition: 2001.7.27
* Canvas DVD edition: 2001.11.22

I honestly didn’t know any of the release dates exactly.

However, I was quite sure that “Kanon” and “Air” are older. My mistake of thinking that “Canvas” is a new one could have been caused by reading the DVD-release-date somewhere else and keeping that as the real release-date subconscious in mind though.

Everybody is always bashing DOR because its old… Be thankful that you are even getting english translated games at all.

Respect your elders god damnit!

That's elder gods.

Not exactlty.
I trash it, because it is an anachronism regarding the overall quality:

3 (or rather 3,5) stories that have no cross-relations, very few graphics at a low resolution and perhaps 16 or 256 colors, no voice-acting and only MIDI-humming tunes.

The fact, it is sold at the cheapest price does not help much: If someone tries out this game as the first B-game in his/her life, they would be thus disgusted, they wouldn't give the more expensive highlights (as for example "Kana") a chance.

So, it is my sworn opinion it would have been better if DOR would have been not released at all.

(O.K., I have to admit, in the meantime there was "Viper Limited" released and that one hit even below DOR the rock bottom...)

Personally, I think of "Viper Limited" more as a game sampler than a game in itself. Something to maybe introduce someone to these types of games. (Not the shooter game itself, but more the demos included on the disc.)

... or more likely: To disgust this someone completely and making him/her not try any really good b-game after that?

Well, that's why I said "maybe". And I'd probably tell people to avoid the game itself but take looks at stuff like the "Paradice" demo. I know that demo did get me a bit more interested in "Paradice".

sigh

91 fans of DOR already…

(Come on, ekylo, you may now stop boosting that poll)
