SF/Cyberpunk Games

Hi, I’m new, not just to the BBS, but to love simulation games in general. Therefore, as I’m really on new ground here, I wouldn’t mind a little help.

I’m not really into the shoujo style. I’m really interested in games that would be closer to Ghost in the Shell, or Macross, Jin-roh, or similar. I prefer heavier plot with sex and sexual situations as more of a “normal” occurance. Hmm, I think maybe I’ve just shot myself in the foot there so to speak. After all, the purpose of love simulations is, as I understand, sexual conquest. I want that, but I want it in a little more… “natural setting”?

I hope I haven’t stepped on any toes. I certainly don’t mean too. I just want to share in this gaming realm, but on levels I can appreciate more.

Many thanks to those of you who will be so kind as to take me under your wing and teach this poor fool a little more about this brave new world I am about to enter.

Sincerely,
Circuitry Bear

The closest thing to what you are looking for in the English market would be “Critical Point” by PeachPrincess.

from your examples, it sounds at first like you are looking for science fiction oriented games?

but perhaps it can also be interpreted as looking for games with strong storylines (whether sci-fi or not)

is that right?

Hello and welcome to the PP BBS ^_^.

"Just sexual conquest"? ^^;. That is not it, althrough it's a large part of these games. That doesn't necressiary mean that the main point of a bishoujo game is just about having a lot of sex. A bishoujo game can have as good a story as anything else (a good movie, book, game, etc..). In a bishoujo game you're playing you move along with the story, interact with the characters, solves riddles and tries to find the best paths in the game. The goal of the story varies, depending on what kind of game you're playing, but usually your ultimate goal is to find the True Love of your life, so to say. This doesn't necressiary mean that only ONE of the girls are that one; there is often multiple endings in bishoujo games, meaning that the game can end in several ways, and you amy end up with different people every time. You have to watch your choices, through, since your choices sometimes can lead you to your doom... or other bad things.

Some people have labeled bishoujo gmaes as "no better thna porn", but I strongly disagree about this, for several reasons. for exmaple, bishoujog maes have far, far better stories than any porn I've ever seen. The stories int he bishoujog mae sI've palyed so far have made me sad, made me laugh, made me feel happy, and so on, and no porn I've ever seen have managed to do that to me. also, the sex scenes will often start out of purely logical reasons, not just because that two people are horny, like in porn. and the sex scenes won''t go like "first oral, then vaginal, then anal-sex, then "shoot in the face!". Well, okay, not in MOST bishoujo games, anyway ^_^ (but, it depends on exactly what genre that game belongs to - as Olf of Kagami could tell you there are various genres of games, and there is a genre of games that is made just for the sex, or more because of it than anything else). But, in most bishoujo gmaes you'll encounter, the "sexual conquests" won't be a major goal of the game. Rather it'll be to, as I said, find your True Love or fulfil your mission/quest in the game (like, in Critical Point, you have to find the source of all the troubles on the Free Alliance Moon Base).

Like the others, if that's what you like (sci-fi and such), I do suggest Critical Point, the very first sci-fi bishoujo game in english!

hey… wasnt there that Phantom of the Inferno dvd game? i never played it myself… but i suspect it may be closer to what you want

Welcome to the boards, Circuitry Bear-san.

Like the other’s mentioned, the most sci-fi oriented game right now is probably Critical Point. And technically, Desire and X-Change has some “sci-fi” elements to it. (Okay, that really depends on how you define “sci-fi” though.)

As for a more “natural setting”, er, again depends on what you mean. Tokimeki Check-In probably has the most “natural” or “realistic” setting among the PeaPri games. You might want to take a glance through G-Collections games. Kango and Horny Bunny are only “fantastic” in some of the situations, but the settings are “natural”.

Phantom of Inferno DVD wasn’t an adult game, they took out all that stuff. It’s not really sci-fi, more like watching a general action flick.

Anyways, hope this helped a little. There’s a strong knowledge base within the group of people on these boards, and we’ll try and answer any questions you may have to the best of our abilities.

If Himeya was still translating, they would be the ones to look for since C’s Ware has quite a few Sci-Fi titles (Luv-Wave in particular) that would qualify.

Well, first I just want to say hi considering both of us are new to this BBS.

I first played b-game about 2 years ago and have been addicted ever since.I won’t advise anything on the sci-fi game considering that DESIRE and CP is about all there are,but maybe you can play some other kind of bishoujo game so you can see that not all b-games is just about sex.
If you like something with heavy plot maybe you can check DIVI-DEAD or KANA.I found their story is quite interesting especially KANA.(By the way Spectator Beholder-san, are you typing without seeing the monitor or it’s just the way you talk )

Hi

Hi, yes, I am looking for strong plotlines, but SF themed plotlines. I wouldn't mind something GOTHIC, or BIOHAZARDY (is that a word?????????), if there is anything like that. Any other suggestions?

Hi, sorry, didn't mean to sound "down" on games of this genre. I'm new, and I honestly, am a little apprehensive about the looks of the characters in the game. They look a little too young for my taste. I realize, it's just an illustration based on fantasy, and it means nothing. But... well, it's just the way I feel.

In my expereince, those anime and manga with strong plotlines tend to have more mature "looking" characters. So this is why I am seeking SF style titles, plus I just prefer themes that sort.

That's.... A SECRET!! . Naw, just joking. Rather, my problem is that I'm always typing a little too fast, especially when ti comes to long letters like that, and I don't always have the time to correct the errors that were caused by my bad typing ^^;.

Don't worry, I think everyone here understands. Many of us doesn't like really "young-looking" characters too. I myself, for example, I don't think I'd be able to play a game such as Maple http://www.will-japan.co.jp/sweetbasil/gs10/10mai01.htm for example. Still, I think that all the characters in PP's games so far looks mature enough .

Don't judge things by how they look . It's good that you follow what you're mainly interested in, however .

Though they have one very big eye (and several smaller tentacle-eyes), Beholders are supposed to be quite short-sighted!

Ah, I'm guessing this was the thread you were mentioning you were having problems posting on. And I don't think "BIOHAZARDY" is really a word. (Not that I'm saying you couldn't make up a word if you want to...

But I think what you're trying to say is that you wouldn't mind also something in the more horror genre. In that case, Divi-Dead would be it. Strong plotline like RedHell-san mentioned and enjoyable.

We all have different tastes. That's why a lot of these games have the different stereotypes. Hmm, as for more mature "looking" characters, you might want to check out Chain then. It's more digital novel than game, but it also has a good story, and since it's a "gritty, detective story", the character designs tend to be more on the "mature" side than some of the others.

Except for the HS girl your suppose to protect :stuck_out_tongue:

Biohazardy isn't a word, not really, but it's clear enough what you mean. Biohazardesque would work better.

But aside from that, Alone in the Dark was first! :)
