Happy Lesson's out in R1 DVD's. It's just not finished yet. Or barely started, I should say, rather.

I guess you are right about it being a trend, but I was taught, a few years ago now, the best time to take a risk is in a weaker economy because if you are right you will be making the money others missed on, granted if you are wrong you can lose big, but once again, you don't make money by keeping it nicely creased in a wallet.

Yeah the first DVD is out the second is due out on the 16th, and the third sometime in late April I believe, which is why I am early, but nonethless already wondering about the next edition.

Ahh I didn’t know it was already out. I knew it was comming soon, didn’t know it was came already

Actually I have been doing some searching and it seems there is an OVA, or a few OVA shows, now are those the Happy Lesson Advanced series or are they something different for anyone that might know?

Advance is season 2. The OVAs are pre-season 1. In fact, if I'm not mistaken OVA 1 is the first TV episode.

Ah okay thank you. That is good to know that there is a season too that might come to Region 1 sooner or later.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see it come out in Region 1. I know I’m enjoying the series and most of the stuff I’ve read from others is also positive. Hmm, you know, now that I think about it, I should really listen to the dub. I’m sort of wondering how they handled some of the little jokes they did in the Japanese track. (Okay, so I’m looking for an excuse to watch it again… )

Some of what I have read from the subtitles there are some changes, and even some changes that seem like concepts that would never make it past the ‘puritanical’ U.S. television censors but work as jokes sometimes funnier then what they dubbed in english, at least that is my thinking with the first dvd shows.

Yeah I believe that the first few TV episodes is just a retelling of the 3 episode ova.

Which means the OVA’s might never be brought over to region 1?

Well, I sort of expected that. I'm just sort of curious as to what they did in the English track in place of the student names in the second episode (like I mentioned before) or even the "kero kero" gag later on in that episode. (Then again, now that I think about it, those two particular gags would only make sense to someone who knew Japanese since they didn't explain them...)

Seriously I don't know, there's been no mention of the ovas so far. But I think there is enough difference between the ovas and the TV episodes that they could put it out. Maybe they'll put it out as extras to the TV series or maybe add them to the end of the series as another disc?

Oh just a heads up, I know some people were asking about maburaho here. It’s been liscensed for R1 by ADV along with Chrono Crusade Hopefully both will be comming out this fall.

Chrono crusade is about this nun who’s in a contract with a demon. The nun is also a member of the military arm of the church to hunt devils/demons. So basically she goes around shooting up everything in 1920’s America fighting demons with her contract demon Chrono Really cool anime with nice character designs especiallly rosette

Chrono Crusade sounds very interesting, especially setting it in the 1920’s, and having a military arm of the church involved. Might be one to check out when it comes out good to know it will be perhaps this fall. I might be thinking of another series but isn’t she also suppose to be a new member of this hunt the devils/demons branch of the church?

Nope when the series starts she’s been in the group for a while.
You might be thinking of hellsing where seiras becomes a vampire and joins the military wing of the protestant church along with her new master alucard

Okay yeah, that must have been the series I was thinking of then, a little confusion over the slightly similar sounding plots of ‘hunt the evil’ even though they are hopefully vastly different in reality.

Heh… I’ve heard Chrno Crusade described several times as “Hellsing for girls”. I am interested in checking out the show.

I’m also very interested in Maburaho.

I am curious what people that have seen Maburaho actually think about it, most of the reviews I have seen speak of it in a positive light but never actually seem to take a stand on it being an excellent show or not one. They sort of speak along the lines of “it is a creative idea that works well within the context of the show” but that can mean it is great or they cannot think of anything else to actually say about it.

So has anyone actually seen the original version, non dubbed? How is it?

I have only seen 2 episodes, but this characterization seems to me to mean this:

"The show is mediocre - it doesn’t suck by any means, but there’s nothing particularly outstanding; it is simply an average show, with strengths and weaknesses, but nothing spectacularly good or bad."

From what little I have seen, I tend to concur.

Ironically that makes me even more interested, but that is just me I guess, when people find things ‘average’ there is this urge to watch and find something wonderful, been doing it for years now with other things and that trend seems to creep into anime. Well then something else to check out this fall, time to start saving even more money.
