This Makes No Sense

I was just looking at the description for “Watashini Konya Ainikite” and noticed something odd. Anyone what to tell me how the mom, who’s 30, can have a daughter who’s 21?

Methinks some ages have been tampered with to beat child porn laws.

Sofuin/EOCS ratings system in Japan, which in 1999 added to its list of rules the requirement that any character shown in a sex scene can't be stated to be under 18.

eh...? i thought drawings were decided to be OK in USA, does this mean japan may now have them stricter than us?

Let’s say Chidori is 38

-If she had Misago when she was 18, Misago would be 20

-Then having Tsugumi and Kobato the following years after that Tsugumi being 19 and Kobato 18, I don’t see that as a problem.

What I do see as a problem is, is that Chidori’s your mom’s sister, right? and that all the girls’(Except for Hina) are your first cousins. Talk about a close family.

Then PP needs to correct their site. Here it just says plain 30. :P

Save for ‚ge.
And yet, Muvluv was a very big seller!!!
I wonder if it would lead to other companies leaving Sofurin...

I thought you knew. Women have the power to maintain the same age for several years. Ask any of them. My friend plans on staying thirty for at least 6 or 7 years herself...

If Japan was stricter than the US, and frankly, I personally wish they would be, there wouldn't have to be age raises.

Some of the stuff (non-games) that makes it to my desk, through no fault of J-List staffers, sends shivers up my spine. (Part of my job description is to watch for "questionable material".)

It's all fantasy gaming anyway, why bother with something as trivial as the ages. Besides, she could be a step-mom. I don't know the game personally, so I couldn't tell you.

On a last note, we are human, and we do make mistakes. We are just trying to provide you with the best gaming we can. Imagine the questions you'd be asking if all the main characters having sex were under 18?

Made in DNA

PS We aren't trying to beat any laws, we do it because we feel better about selling games with legal-age characters.

I was joking about tampering with ages. Though when I see X-Change and True Love chatacters talking about being in "college" all I can think is "Who, other than the government, do they think they're foolin'?"

BTW, my condolences. Checking for "objectionable" stuff has to be a weird job. I really worry about the fact that the people that come up with some of the H stuff I've seen are free to walk the streets.

Granted, it's the streets of Japan, but I'm moving there next week so...

Say, Kagami, does SOFUIN decide anything else besides what there should and/or should NOT be in a bishoujo game?

Bah, I don't like Sogna, so I don't care. Nitro+ and Overflow OTOH...

How about "Juelly" and "Janis"?
(The female characters in "Oshiete oniichan sensei" look VERY young. The same goes for some of the girls in "Triangle Hearts", after all...)

I see.
Well, it isn't gentlemanlike to talk about a female person's age anyway. So, it's probably for the best to state no ages at all and leave it all to the player's imagination...
At least, that would comply with rule 1.

Bah, "no stating age" is just a weird rule. You can easily infer most girls' age, by the grade she's in...

Really?
Some of them might be really poor students that passed fifth grade at the age of eighteen...

Actually, I doubt their fooling the government either. It's just one of those fun legal gray areas where everyone's cool unless someone makes a fuss.

Personally, I'm not that worried about them as long as they can separate their "creativity" from reality.

Really? What for? Work? School? Fleeing from justice? "Looking for a Japanese Girlfriend."?

Okay I'm kidding. Hmm, even with grades, there is still a slight range. In my high school graduating class, the ages ranged from 17 to 20. *shrug* That's how it goes sometimes.

Exactly. ;)

You are not a kidding. Most of the time I just breeze through material and there's no problem, then there are times I hit something and.... well, let's just say it's Cringe Time. And you can say that again. I mean, really, WHAT are these guys thinking?????? And who in their right mind would market these in a mainstream market. I'd be afraid the Federales would come knocking on the door late, late, late at night...
