Came across this kickstarter for a kendo themed VN:

Wow, the art didn’t even make me cringe (too much).

There’s a kickstarter for a Zero Escape inspired game, looks interesting:

Sekai Project is doing another kickstarter for the translation of a game called fault milestone one:

Hurricane Paisley first appeared on Kickstarter earlier this year, using one of the RPG Maker programs. It didn’t meet its funding goal. The current version is being created with Novelty Maker. With only five days left, it’s at only 36% funding, with just under AUS $2000 left. I commented early in June, and recommended that the creators should politely promote their work. Unfortunately, I think that two reasons why it’s not getting funded are 1) lack of updates, and 2) only a moderate amount of promotion on relevant forums.

Sekai Project is having a lot of success using Kickstarter to fund official translations. Fault Milestone One is currently 171%, and the last two parts of World End Economica are at 261%. Both are worksafe.

Some fan-made visual novel projects on Kickstarter have failed to meet their goals, or were quietly cancelled. Hopefully there won’t be problems with funded projects that never get released… On a somewhat related note, I searched the site for “manga” today and found a variety of projects, ranging from 0% funded to successes, as well as both translations and comics written in English. Making commercially viable visual novels and comics requires a group of talented people and at least some investment. Animation takes much more investment. Searching Kickstarter for “anime” and then “animation,” I found only a few recent successful projects.

Fred Perry of Gold Digger fame, is working on a Final Fantasy Tactics type game with a bit of naughtiness thrown into it.

Check it out here:

With Bermuda succeeding on Kickstarter with just three days left, it seems appropriate to mention that there was an interview about the visual novel project on Siliconera.

Thanks for mentioning it. The Offbeatr page has a lot of information. I’m trying to figure out if Tactics Elemental will be a commercial product, or whether it will be freeware. I’m not sure right now.

I noticed the following statement about the software that will be used: “I’ll need unity pro, lots of music and new animation software. (Latest build of 3dMax, TVPaint and Flash)” In other words, it won’t be created with freeware tools or inexpensive DLSite resources. It could represent an ambitious step forward.

Sekai Project’s next kickstarter is for the localization of this game:
