Just to clear some things up.
All the eroge game systems:
ADV: Where you play the role of a character and make decisions based mainly on dialogue. (Endings are usually decided by a tree decision route)
AVG: Where you play the role of a character where you make decisions where to go and/or who to talk to. (Endings are usually decided by which character you meet the most)
NOV(or NVL): Visual novels, where you mainly read text with a background picture. There is also choose your own adventure choices, but not always.
SLG: A broad term ment for strategy and/or simulation games.
RPG: I don’t have to explain this one. Fighting, leveling etc.
Others: Games that don’t follow into those genres are usually fan discs, mahjong games, arcade style games, etc
Sometimes, games actually have a hybrid game systems where they blend ADV with other genre such as SLG.
There is also the fact that even Japanese people and companies sometimes get confused as to what genre a game falls into and label them wrong. (AVGs marked as ADV (or vice versa))
I’m not playing any at the moment. I’d like to try Crescendo, among some other titles. But, I hear very good things about Crescendo so I’ll probably be getting that title as soon as I can.
To be honest, I bought the game for Maaryan-senpai and couldn’t care less for the other girls (though I found myself falling for Saaryan again, but, well, she already has what could be considered the best story of THXR, so…)
Well, Harumi is a bit… dangerous to be around (her “I’m your pet, I’m your slave, here, I bought a collar that you can put at my neck.” IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CLASSROOM FOR ALL TO HEAR made me thinks Takaaki will never be able to look at anyone in his classroom any longer ^^;;;;;;;), and Silfa is a bit of the complete opposite. When I usually like girls of little word, Silfa is a bit too… extreme. ^^;;;;;
That, and I was into Maaryan-senpai since TH2XR.
Wow! Sasara’s story is 11?! You really loved her scenario don’t you?
So, in your opinion, Sasara, the twins and Lucy are 3 best scenarios, but Karin, Tamaki and Manaka are the worst. I will keep that in mind. And there’s no Ilfa scenario, either?!
No? Really? Is that that obvious? And, no, it’s not a mistake and the scores are 10-points based.
To explain my scores, “story” is how much I enjoyed a story, “character” is how much I enjoyed a character, and “overall” is good I consider a character to be and well-done I consider her story to be. When tied to the two former scores, it’s not a direct consequences because it’s rather an objective scoring of the character and her story (as far as how much objective one can be when giving a score) vs. subjective appreciations, so the “overall” score may be lower than both former scores. For instance, I loved Konomi (8.5), found that her story was just above average --too cliched IMO-- (6.5) but considers that such scores are very tied to my own taste rather than any overall artistic or literary qualities, any character or story execution, etc. and would only fare averagely on an overall scale (6). To simplify, I gave the two first scores for people with with similar tastes to mine, when the last was rather given in an attempt to evaluate how much your average (ren’ai) gamer would enjoy it.
Manaka is the only score for which I’d put a reservation: I based the final one on how much her story made me sleep (it was one of the very rare time where I slept through a complete route in an erogee or so) and attributed it to its bad pacing. Further discussions with people, and reading of reviews, made me thought I was perhaps just exhausted when I played her route (I did recall being quite tired then).
Ilfa’s story is heavily tied with the twins’ story.
And this is why I take all of Narg’s reviews with a full salt shaker, and not just a grain of salt: I always question his comments when a game has twins… or lacks them, for that matter.
But both Milfa and Silfa got one in TH2AD, so rejoice! \o/
I like titles without twincest. Maybe not with the same enchantment, gusto, vigor, AND DIVINE MANDATE FROM GOD as titles with twins… but I like 'em.
It’s not like my entire world revolves around twincest or anything… okay… so it does revolve around twincest… but that doesn’t mean I only adore twincest. There’s also enslavement. Oh and vampires. Twincest. Violently violating tentacles. Can’t forget bondage. Twincest. Elegant Gothic Lolitas. Evil protagonists are nice. Twincest. Screaming. More screaming. Twincest.
I mean the list goes on and on. Did I mention twincest?
Oh… and since I have your attention… have you had a chance to order and/or play Futari de Hitotsu no Koigokoro? Narg is kinda interested in knowing what a non-follower of his religion thinks of it.
I’m playing “Amusement park” now.
I ordered it because I don’t think it will still be available in a near futur.
I only watched one path yet (Nanasa… the cutest first of course :)), but it seems this game is not really good (as expected, but not bad).
I still have to go for all the girls, but it seems this game is really short. I saw only 3 choices during the game and those were kind of obvious choices (1 : separate the girls in 3 group, 2 : in the choosen group, pick the girls you like, and 3 : Do you want the good or the bad ending ?)
Even so, it still better than Snow Drop.
It has a lot of flaws, but I don’t regret buying it.
