What you would like to see in a LE edition for $60

How about a cd clock, they are pretty awesome looking. C’s shipped them in their millenium box of Adam. Its pretty simple, cd with a very nice print on it, and a little cheap clock motor in the back. I’m a limited edition fan, but shirts and cards never really won me over. A poster would be nice

Artbooks are number one on my wishlist, too. Other than that I would especially like figurines or a wallscroll.

I heard you the first time, but you asked us to say what we would like, so here you go!

While they make perfectly good stuffers for some people, I’m sure, I am almost completely uninterested in easy-to-produce items like artbooks, soundtracks, and shirts. … Well, an artbook might interest me but it would depend on the art, and it would obviously have to be art not currently available in the game.

I mean, a soundtrack? Pfft. The sound is RIGHT THERE in the game already. Value to me? Practically nil. A t-shirt? Yeah, I can get a CafePress account too. :stuck_out_tongue: These things are fine for people who mostly want the prestige of having bought the Limited Edition version, but for me, if it’s not something special and hard to come by, I’m not interested in paying extra for it.

As for only being able to provide figures if they exist… well… you COULD get someone on staff to buy posable japanese doll bodies and hair/eye them to match the characters! But, er, that would probably put the price range a leetle bit above the $20 mark. (Good body’s about 15, outfit at least 10, hair and eyes vary.)

People keep mentioning figures because they want it in the LE. We certainly realize that Peach Princess isn't able to hire an artist to build it from scratch (assuming the licensing issue is taken care of w/ the Japanese company), and then have it set up for mass production in China. But somehow GC managed it-----I have a Private Nurse Maria figure, and I'm not aware that it was originally released/available in Japan.

Anyway, I think for a $60 LE, PP should be focusing on the paper-based producsts like mini posters, playing/collectible cards, and pencil boards. If you're throwing in a soundtrack (which is my preference, btw, if figure isn't an option), then maybe $70 for the LE.

Well, the thing w/ soundtrack is that some people like to enjoy listening to music while driving to work/home, or easy listening on their CD player.

I know what you mean, but your mixture of "politically correct" b-game terminology with anime fan terminology has led to your use of the same term, in the same sentence, to mean two completely different things.

Things that i’d consider buying a LE for:

1. Poster/wallscroll - only if tasteful enough to be put on a wall

2. Keychain - i’v got a keychain of asuka from dividead and its my fav. bishoujo possession; would love to have more.

3. Special box - even just a cardboard sleeve over normal box

4. Extras on discs - wallpapers, crazy-fun little programs, etc

5. Figurines - unlikely to happen, but would be nice

Hm. Admittedly, availability issues can be a problem, but I’ll probably be happy as long as it’s not come cheap-looking thing.

Even Duel Savior, which just came with special packaging and some soundtrack CDs, was a nice set in my eyes. ^^;;

For T-shirts, there may be some issues regarding size and stuff… color, too. I like my shirts black and loose-fitting, but not everyone shares my preferences. Hell, a shirt that’s loose on me (3X) might look like a dress on someone else. ^^;;

Eheh… that was a lot easier than I expected it to be. ^_^;;

Plushies…oh wait we talking about bishoujo game Hmmm…donno pretty much everything people already listed is ok. Or how about a baseball cap heh I still have my kiddy grade cap that came with their LE vol 1. Nice simple embossed name on the cap.

Yes i know, but that doesn't stop me from wanting them and the fact i'd be willing to pay a bit more for them.

Ok, where would you get THAT!?
I have Divi-dead and yes, its one of the best games i played (in the b-game genere)...

Right!, my mistake...
I'll fix that... later...

there's a saying here, in spanish...
'Aunque la mona se vista de seda, mona se queda'

BTW: If there were to be a LE for Water Closet, would it bring a lavatory??

Ooh! I know what that means! Let's see:

Although...mona...(don't know what that means...translator won't translate it)...is dressed in silk...mona remains. I recognize every word in that sentence except "mona," yet it's still completely incomprehensible. Yay for an introductory college level understanding of Spanish!

Update: My roommate looked it up in a dictionary, and "mona" means either a "copycat", a "drunk," or a "female monkey." Or some combination thereof, since this is an idiom. So let's try it out!

Although a copycat may be dressed in silk, a copycat he remains.

or

Although a female monkey may be dressed in silk, she's still drunk.

or (my personal favorite)

Although a drunk may be dressed in silk, he's still cross-dressed as a female monkey, and the likeness is unflattering as well

i think a $10-20 increase from the regular $50 would be a reasonable guess, but again that's not necessarily how much the LE will cost, but that way i think we can get more realistic responses.

and just as a reminder, there is NO WAY we can make a pillowcase for $10-20 so please i dont want to see people asking for pillowcase in this thread. plus, not everybody can afford to have a naked pillowcase in their bedroom, so please think for others too because we would like to have a LE that works for (almost) everybody.

but of course, you can continue to expand your wish list on the other thread, because maybe someone will come up with an interesting idea for goodies, and i will continue to keep a good eye on that thread too.

Many games get cool things that come out in Japan: singles / whole CDs of a game's (or anime's) characters singing songs as their character. If these exist, they would make good omake.

Sometimes there are omake dramas as well; Lamuness, we've discussed this in chat before, but I'll reiterate my position: I can enjoy the acting, and the characters, without necessarily understanding it - and I'm perfectly willing to follow along with a text translation. That kind of omake would be worth money to me - even if it was just a sound file with a text translation, I'd still be interested.

For games with a nice soundtrack, a soundtrack on CD (or even in .mp3 format on the disc, for those of us with iPods).

For games with nice artwork, concept art or backgrounds - printed into a booklet or something. Or a mini-poster.

A hint booklet, done up with lots of pretty pictures from the game. Not giving walkthroughs, but vague hints (such as, in Snow Drop an explanation of how game-time worked and saying "you need to see certain key events involving these characters" would have helped immensely).

Very extensive liner notes, explaining in detail cultural references that make things easier to understand.

Figurines, preferably NOT 100% nude and/or in very compromising positions (otherwise it might be hard to actually display them). Small plushies of the cute girls would be nice too. Since sending one of each girl to all the customers might be difficult, I'm sure much screaming will ensue if no-one gets exactly the one they wanted though...

I second this; figurines that could actually be displayed would be cool, as would little plushies.

[Edit: yes, yes, yes, you won't have to repeat "i have to repeat myself again" again, I realize you can only do what already exists...]

Maybe if the demand for figurines is large enough, Peter forces Lamuness make some Doujin figurines out of clay or something in order to satisfy the large amount of customers.

Not exactly what I had in mind though…

Truly interesting!!
Although Italian and Spanish are somewhat different (I've learned the sense of the phrase only with Dark Shiki's translation),
"mona" is an Italian word, too (well, almost ,,,)!!

Italian version:
Anche se la mona si veste di seta, mona rimane.

In terms of artbooks, perhaps making a standalone special translated printing offer exclusive of an already existing bishoujo game artbook to the peach princess/Jlist website might be one way to do it.

Another possibility to look into is translated versions of some magazine articles about the bishoujo games to be released. Maybe even an print “interview” of sorts with some of the creators of the game, if possible.

Soundtracks might be a good thing, though image song soundtracks (songs that the various bishoujo game seiyuu actresses would sing as their respective characters) and/or perhaps “radio-dramatization” tracks- complete with translation of what is being said (something akin to some of the drama parts in the second FLCL OST)- might be another avenue to look at.

Widgets and doodads such as the cards and keychains would definitely add more to an LE edition (Some of the anime series LE editions would include T-Shirts, plushies, pins, shotglasses, figurines, etc.). All of this would of course be predicated on whether or not they are actually available.
