X-Change Remake in works

I just came back from 4 days of AX and boy, I’m beat… It was really fun though, I was able to score many autographs and sketches but also lost quite a lot of money buying DVDs and doujinshi in the process, sigh…

Anyhow, back to the subject. I was just surfing thru the Getchu and somehow did a search on X-Change series. Surprisingly, I saw new title due out in August which is called XchangeR which seems to be a remake of X-Change 1. No info on the Crowd webpage yet but they did mention that an article about it can be found on August issue of BugBug and PC Angel magazine.

And another title of X-Change seems to be in work as well. Besides XchangeR, also Yin-Yan¡¦Xchange Alternative can be found on Getchu. It seems like Crowd is going all out with the Xchange franchise now.

I’m just happy to found about this news as a fan of X-Change series As long as they come out and English versions soon follow (well, I don’t mean ‘soon’ literally…), I would be greatful ^^;

Heh, there have to be more fans of X-Change series in this BBS!!! I know few people are turned off by rape bus and all but there gotta be fans just like me… Come forth, loyal fans of X-Change series!!!

Replace “few” with “most BBS regulars”. The first XChange has been Peach Princess’ biggest success but it is not well liked here. My own opinions are well known here, so I’ll just say that if they did remake the first XChange, it can only get better.

I think the reason people don’t like X Change very much is because it’s just an average sex romp game. The artwork isn’t anything special and it’s not especially funny. It’s just corny. But I guess you could enjoy it depending on what you’re looking for in a game. I’m sure that guys who wonder what it’s like to be a girl are interested in this series. I think they could have done better, though. There is a non adult manga that covers this idea in a much better non sex romp way.

If they’re remaking X-change, then that’s news indeed, but what will this mean to us as english fans? That we’ll get an expansion of XC, released by PP? That PP will update their XC version and we’ll have to re-buy it to see all the new stuff? Or what else?

So far, nobody really knows what changes this remake will have. And as far as this is unknown, there is no point at all to think about a localization of this new version.

However, you can safely assume that they are not going to make a free downloadable patch for the original XC1 that adds the new features.
... and that goes twice if one of the new features is voices because making that downloadable would be a horrible bandwidth-killer.
Just think how things went when the "Kangoi Shicyauzo Voice+"-version was released.

As things are, I'd be more interested in XC3 than a XC1-remake. But there are other games from CROWD that are even far more interesting... you know which, right? [img]http://princess.cybrmall.net/ubb/wink.gif[/img]

I was at the X-change 3 release event, and the designers elaborated a bit on the rumors.

X-change R is indeed going to be a remake of XC1. New content is to be added as well as voices. Also, the new version will be compatible with Windows 2000/XP, whereas the original edition was not.

The Yin-Yan X-change Alternative title will be something of a spin-off–it will be a new character who is the gender-bending star instead of Takuya.

Also, with Will, according to Lamuness, withdrawing from PP, PP may not have much other choice than getting lots of gmaes from Crowd as soon as

Right, right ^_______^. Even so, a remake of XC1 wouldn't be too bad IMHO. As Nandemonai says, the game has several good opportunies for turning into goosd stuff, but as far as I understood his reasoning, they never developed them fully in more interesting directons... Now they may have gone back and corrected their mistakes and thus a remake of XC1 might be much interesting as it may have developed what was left undeveloped...

Still, I agree that it'd be mroe interesting (to me at least) to see something like Fukushuu - RnY brought out in english instead of a remade XC1.

Interesting maybe they’ll fix some of the storyline this time so we can avoid some of the segments Oh well in either case it’ll be a while before we even get a whiff of it here in the States. I’m hoping for X-3 first

Dude, get on IRC once in a while. The #b-games channel on irc.enterthegame.com isn’t so bad. Though it’s still often quiet in there.

Also, try see it from the bright side: Now PP will have more time to work on will-games and since Will's the only one available now, there's a much greater chance to see games like Obbligato and Fukushuu - RNY and... Should I mention OMnY here? It isn't the greatest game we could see released, true, but the maids are cute at least ^_^ (I didn't mention XC3 here since it's almost for sure to be a title PP want to release).

Not quite. The three that I mentioned are either outstanding in gameplay (Utsukushii Hime with its Item-creating system) or in Story (Dokusen and Oyaji Bazaar). Kairaku is special in our case but not really a competition for those three.

Hmmmm, I wonder if we will ever see the potatoe-heads in a localized version? It is an entirely different artstyle and hardly recognizable as a CROWD game.

Of course, FRnY would be great because it has a special gameplay and thus fulfills a similar request as Brave Soul. And if games like Roast a vigin gets a chance, this story is almost harmless... [img]http://princess.cybrmall.net/ubb/rolleyes.gif[/img]
At least you are more in control here than in most other games.

And OMnY... well, I don't think I can recommend that...
But there is also Miss you that still might be better.
