anime with strong finishes

AMG movie was brought out by a different company, pioneer or bandai I believe(I always get those 2 mixed up) Animego aslo has UY or Urusei Yatsura. They also put out the origional Macross, not robotech but the origional series that was chopped up to make robotech. They seem to be releaseing some live action japanese movies lately. But they are relatively small, owned by the guy who made the wizardry pc game.

They released some good ones, I hope they continue to do well and don’t fall too much into that live action realm. I have seen some of those that look like anime with actors instead of just voice actors and find those I have seen to be fodder for MST3K were it still on the air. Perhaps I have just seen bad ones, but they seem to be trying to make anime live action and it just is not working. I had not thought of those pc games in a while, did not make the connection or realize the conneciton, cool.

Pioneer brought out the AMG movie. They occassionally pick up a theatrical release of a series that they don’t have the corresponding OVA or TV series for.

Well it’s good they do that, that anyone does that, because the movies are often, at least in those I have seen, nice conclusions to the series.

It depends a lot of times movies do nothing more than retell the TV series like the escaflowne movie. And sometimes the movie themselves leaves more questions than answers like Nadesico movie. So really it depends on what type of movie it is. AMG movie was nice in that it was something that AMG fans have been clamoring about for years. Since they only made the 5 OVA I’m hoping maybe when AMG nears the end of it’s manga run, they’ll do a TV series or another set of OVAs. But truthfuly in AMG manga not much relationship advancement between Keitchi and Belldandy.

Yeah I have been following the manga, and it has seemingly gone from a couple nervously standing next to each other to a couple nervously holding hands, not much advancement. Still the OVA was different then the manga anyway, they could continue it in that trend and just tell stories in that light.

So what is a good anime with a good ending
for me to get for the month of march. I got about $100 us to spend?
I as thinking of getting a whole season
like The world of Narue
PS I got Sugar, and that has the best ending I have seen in a long time.

Since RightStuf has a 40%-off sale on Media Blaster DVDs, you might want to consider that. The only MB titles I'm familiar with are the two Magic Knight Rayearth series that I recommended in the first post, however. Of the two box sets, only MKR 1 comes within budget. If you enjoy a good ecological disaster story, you might consider preordering the Arjuna, Earth Maiden box set. All the episodes get "A" ratings from AOD, but they warn about unresolved plot endings. At $37.49 it's cheap enough you could also get the third Maison Ikkoku box or the first Marmalade Boy box and still be under $100 with a membership discount.

It's going to be tough to beat Sugar's ending, though. Is it all right to cry yet?

Yup Rightstuf has the MB sale this week and if you have a got anime membership it’s more like 47% off MB and kitty titles. I’ve got a few things from MB i need catching up on so it’s a good sale

If you want to catch the MB sale, my suggestions for good MB titles are Berserk eventhough the ending sucks big time because of the clffhanger, I heard figure 17 and 12 kindoms are pretty good but I think they are done releasing them yet. Gokudo is not bad for a comedy series, main character is a total selfcentered lecherous asshole so it’s funny seeing him get stuck in his own messes Magic knight rayearth is good if you fantasy genres and the designs is by clamp so you know it’s pretty. Ruroni Kenshin is a good samurai anime but it’s a bit long and definately be more than a 100 to finish the series. If you want hentai then go with bible black that’s from Kitty very nice hentai title

Magic users club is a must get!
(I have it on VHS but no player )

I have heard the anime series of Rumiko Takahashi’s manga such as Ranma 1/2 start off strong but then fade as they get near the end for many reasons is that ture of Maison Ikkoku or does that have a stronger ending? That is if anyone has seen either of those endings yet?

MI is a series that aired from 1986-88, but is just now being released on R1 DVD. The TV series is 96 episodes (8 box sets), and they're only up to box #3. So reviews of the full series are based on tapes or fansubs of the R2 set (¥116000, no subtitles).

Maison Ikkoku is one of those animes I'm willing to go along with for the ride, wherever it goes. Character development is its strong point. It's not a series consisting of recycled plots and filler. People actually grow and mature as time goes on.

Anime Academy gives a good overview. They rank it 4th on their all-time list, right up there with KOR and Escaflowne. There is an MI Final Chapter OVA, but don't skip ahead and spoil it.

Argh, I really wanna pick up the second MKR set at this sale (I already have the first), but I don’t have any money right now I believe the last day for this sale is the 21st? It’s gonna be a close call… better go sell some organs on ebay…

Keep your organs, MKR 2 is not as good as the first season. Check first if you can't get it cheaper on VHS.

Rowena disagrees and I'm leaning in the same direction. Season two is more intense and actually has a stronger ending since it resolves some loose ends from the first series. I liked them both and thought they did a good job tying them together. But see MKR 1 first to appreciate the full storyline.

I think that the first season of Ai Yori Aoshi had a fairly strong ending. From what I understand from Newtype there is a second season, but a different titleI guess depending how you count a ‘series’ that ending might be overall stronger from some of the reviews I have heard.

MKR #2 is only 1/3 the value what MKR
was since I did not like the plot.

And yes I have seen season one! While I did not like the story as it was getting too dark , I did like all the plot twists in it.

** trips over large stack of tapes **
** trips over the second season of tapes too **.

Well, seeing as how I don’t even HAVE a VCR anymore, I pretty much have to go DVD… :stuck_out_tongue:

I enjoyed the first set, and I think I need to have the second set either way… it’s really the other half of the story. So I guess I’m willing to bet my money on it.

You can spend your money on what you like,
just keep your organs.

I never said anything about selling MY organs...

Having recently finished RahXephon, I definitely feel that had a strong ending... covering all the necessary ground without handing it to you on a silver plate.
