C-G's Virtual-Mate?

Come to think of it, GC has to make some sort of big statement/update, and soon. What the hell are they going to say when customers start asking about V-mate?

Customer: So…what’s with this V-mate thingie? What’s it do?
GC: Oh that? Yeah. Go check out that faq on the Peach Princess page…

Now if they do that I will be laughing for days, but given their level of response so far it's one of us that will have to tell those asking about the faq.

I too am finding myself reaching the point of where my apathy is palpable, it is just some strange sense of curiosity that makes me ask about when they will reply and also if they will say anything meaningful, more curiosity then the chance it will influence my decision at this point.

Taken from j-list website:

This game utilizes a new online registration system called VirtualMate. In order to play the game, you’ll need to register via the Internet once, which takes just a few clicks. Access the VirtualMate website and create a password by entering your product key, and you’re ready to play. Thanks to VirtualMate, which is widely used in Japan, we’re able to bring this game to you at a substantial discount over the usual price. The VirtualMate system automatically turns itself off a year after the game is released, so you don’t need to worry about not being able to play this great dating-sim in the future.

Maybe they’ve been told something we haven’t?

If it's gonna automatically turn itself off, then what's the point of putting it in the game in the first place? O_o

Hah. You overestimate them. Given how they've handled the rest of this that isn't that far-fetched. Except that somehow they'd manage to misrepresent what was in the FAQ.

That's interesting. if this is true, perhaps GC could announce this? To us, perhaps? Because right now all we have to go on is their 'statement' from the middle of last week about a patch.

*sighs*

Guess I'll just have to wait until later today to see if they actually announced anything.

*goes to work*

I think j-list is probably just speculating here, like distributors often do with release dates. Or perhaps they’re just misinformed. Why would GC scramble to announce a 1-year patch, retract the statement, and then remain silent up through now if they had such an ace up their sleeve?

* nods *
Perhaps, Lamuness should make Peter aware of your "V-Mate for dummies"-thread...

At first glance, it sounds like misinformation to me as well.

I’ll make aware all of the itlian retailers i will be able to reach about the problem - still, i’ve three months to do so.

Hmmm...
That's more than I would expect.
My variation of the sketch:

Customer: So...what's with this V-mate thingie? What's it do?
GC: Give it a try! We are sure you are going to enjoy it.

Or probably more like right now:

Customer: So...what's with this V-mate thingie? What's it do?
GC: .............

... I just wish it would have been really funny and not just a bitter parody of our reality ...

IMHO, they are waiting for sales results before answering us.

We're laughing because we don't want to cry, Unicorn.... Situation is really sad.

"Se ride ppe nun piagne", as we say in Rome.

So if we wait a year from release to buy this do we have to put up with this V-Mate nonesense or will it all be done by then with those games?

Also why did they wait until today to post to this to us, to provide more information? Just curious since so far we still have had no offical word from G-Collections and it is game day, so to speak.

It does not make sense at all, you're right, if G-Collections had this ace up their sleeve it should have been pulled a long time ago to make us more 'excited' about this game and future games rather then so jaded that at least my trust in them is almost gone. I mean to continue the analogy of the ace up their sleeve, they pulled it after the last hand was dealt and everyone left the table.

Of course there is always the chance they never wanted this informaiton announced and hoped to have another plan before announcing this idea. Yes eventually (if it is true) people would figure it out but so long as they kept it quiet maybe they thought it would help them somehow. Maybe it was the dramatic last second save idea but I doubt it.

I got to go with the latter. They have begged us once to "please try their system" they are so sure "we will enjoy it", and since then nothing but silence. Why break their silence at this point since the game just came out it would not make sense.

If they do then it seems we were right and their sales sank, if they don't well no comment as to that since I cannot think of a way to say it either nicely or without making it sound like they are fools.

Possibly so, but this total information blackout they have seemingly imposed will not help them when they come (if they come) begging to those that have not bought to plea with them to buy their game, even if they do it less then outright pleaing.

Well said. Couldn't point out that better by myself. Canossa, Canossa....

Or, another analogy to poker, they still believe game isn't closed at all and they put on a big bluff. After all, we can no more trust them after what they said and did.
