C-G's Virtual-Mate?

(conspiracy mode on) Or J-list is LYING to try and sucker people into buying the game!

(Plz don’t kill me!)

BTW, about Americans using credit cards for porn - Yeah, they do. But I work in net porn, and most of those companies very carefully make up discreet names to bill you under so your credit card statement doesn’t look ‘dirty’. And also for the checks they mail out to people like me. MOST of my checks are from completely innocuous company names like “Amarose Web Services International” or something (made up example). It’s bad for business to have “CHUBBY SLUTS” show up on people’s statements. People are still paranoid.

Well given the idea of the information blackout coming back to bite them, it will be interesting to see how much longer it continues into this day or how long beyond. Also if it is not an information blackout by their terms I would like to know what they consider it.

No new information, from about Thursday of last week on a total withdrawal of anyone answering or responding to concerns, no updates (or announcements of nothing that has been decided so far but several plans being discussed) as to what might be in the works, to me that sounds like they were panicked withdrew and hoped the lack of saying anything would allow people to perhaps "see things their way" or "calm down" and end up buying the game.

But paranoid enough not to demand their money back if they feel they have been "screwed over" by this system if they don't have continual internet connection or just don't like they idea of being lied to (misled) by no to little information about this system? Providing of course they buy it from someone that does not talk about this system or they do not post it in a way that links it to this game.

Additional thought, we won't hear much today (unless the news was sent and for some incomprehensible reason G-Collections is sitting on it), at least "early" today if the news must first come from Japan, as I believe it is about 12:00 am in Japan at the moment. Speaking at least from the East Coast US time, that means I don't expect an update until around maybe 8:00 pm.

This is unlikely to happen if they stick to their method of PR they used up to now.

Quitting business out of the blue and leaving all V-Mate-believers in the rain complies more with their previous patterns of action.

True, I just hope they are not trying to calculate the backlash "this time" (as they should have done far more carefully last time) from those V-Mate-believers they will leave high and dry if they suddenly cut the system tomorrow.

I just figured they did plea once with the "please try this system, we are sure you will find it enjoyable" line, so they might try something similar, but the more I think of it ... you're right that would not fit in with their PR or customer service methods they have recently shown us to exist.

I am not convienced their customers service is bad in normal situations so it is unfair to perhaps label them in that manner, but as said before this is not a normal situation and it's the abnormal ones that count more, frankly I think they were either overmatched, incompetent in this abnormal situation or greatly hindered in their actions by the home office.

Whichever is the truth, their customer service does come off looking bad, but truth told Unicorn's probably closer to the truth with her comment about "their method of PR". It's not so much customer service as the PR department that has failed in this situation and perhaps failed to give customer service anything to work with, but now I am just giving CS the benefit of the doubt.

They've been joined by JAST USA now. I received the same information in an email announcement this morning.

The VirtualMate system
automatically turns itself off a year after the game is released, so you don't need to worry about not being able to play this great dating-sim in the future.

JAST is an affiliate of J-list, so no real surprise they should have the same information, but since this was emailed as an unsolicited announcement, they're going to get a lot of complaints if it's untrue.

Assuming the one-year automatic turnoff works as advertised, does that mean we can disable V-Mate by setting our system clocks ahead one year? I guess we'll have to wait for confirmation from GC, but the last time I checked there was still no update on that site.

OK LET'S PUT THINGS IN CLEAR.
In Italy, in a conversation with friends, " c**ap/c**ppy" ( sorry ) is used with the same meaning as "poorly/bad looking". Differences between languages can turn into misjudgements as i experienced on G-Coll BBS.

@ perigee

One year. From the game release, or from when you buy the game?
If i buy a game one year from now, can i install it on a non connected laptop without registering?

[Joda mode] Mmmmmmh.... fishy to me it seems.... Dark side of the Force i got from that..... mmmmhhhh[/Joda mode]

Sorry, this is still a big NO to me.

[This message has been edited by Italicus (edited 10-26-2004).]

Basically means the same in English, only it’s a far more insulting way to say something, sort of like saying “slut” instead of “mistress” or “concubine”.

Anyway, my opinon on the customer service might go from beneift of the doubt to worse depending how the next couple of days unfold.

And yet still no official announcement from G-Collections, very interesting, and makes me doubt the truth of the statement. I think they both have been misinformed.

Now it would be interesting if such statements are true it might, might make me more willing to consider one of their future games, especially if that whole set the clock ahead would work.

Just going by what is said in the message, a year after the game is released. That means one year from today, October 26th, 2005.

I don't see how they could require you to connect after that date if they're sincere when they say you don't need to worry about not being able to play this great dating-sim in the future. There may be no server to send a "V-Mate Termination Signal" in the future. From the ambiguous information we have now, it would seem that V-Mate must have an internal shutdown timer.

So, no play from a non-connected PC…

Maybe Lamuness could point Peter to this thread and maybe he could answer where they got the info from ??

And yet I am not sure in their second message "a year after the last game is sold" they made the same promise that we could always play these games in the future did they?

That is not to say they don't mean it, but when they changed the patch info I really don't think they repeated that promise, or am I just forgetting something?

Also why talk about a patch if it has that internal timer, why not just mention that at the time, unless they did not know, but then why withdraw the patch and not tell it then, unless they still did not know, and even if it was not known then, why have they (whoever they are) not said anything earlier or allowed for an earlier statement, especially an official statement? I don't know, something about this still does not add up as promising.

For sure i’m not going to buy a game i’m gonna play after a year - if i can play it after a year on a non-connected PC.

No matter what, it seems to me my only hope to play a V-Mate game ( Hitomi, in my case ) in reasonable times is a crack.

Still for me this is a NO.

[This message has been edited by Italicus (edited 10-26-2004).]

They sort of updated the G-Collections site, they bumped Let’s Meow Meow to the top of the page but so far that is the only change. I would have expected them to make the V-Mate change first (or at the same time) if they have anything to update insofar as V-Mate information.
