Downhill Night...that was fast.

No dice, it’s still lagging, tearing, and skipping, albeit somewhat quickly. And LQ doesn’t fix things.

You can get the first cg by failing in the beginning. I was still in Raidy II mode at the time and thought there might be a cg for losing as well as winning…was right for that one.

I actually wanted to do Tomomi’s first but grew attached to Rinka after meeting her…although she remind me strongly of the naru (love hina) archtype (at least in the beginning). Tomomi just has the appeal that I like better.

I’m not against the other two girls…actually I like the blond archetype (sometimes) but as for the other…the route will tell.

Komachi is her name and yes she has her own route in the sequel. Reason enough to buy Blaze as she is definitely one of the more enjoyable characters in the game. She might actually be the main character in the end of the third game but time will tell. The first was decent, the second better, and hopefully the third will be the best of them all. Even if all it is, is better than one that will still be worth the price we pay.

I think I mentioned it previously but I hope they have an alternative answer to racing in the game (like an ability to skip it or something). It would suck to not be able to continue the game simply because you can’t race fast enough…always brings me back to that stupid boar game ai yori aoshi.

Never say Jast does not please the fans. On to tomomi’s route.

Hashiriya:

I never really had a problem with the game. Do you have the physical copy or the download edition? Not sure if it matters mind you.

I’ve got the download. Not sure if it matters.

Also, my impression of Komachi is that she’s a pretty unique character. Love it when she goes into “serious mode” and starts spouting off relevant information on whatever car about to face next.

Komachi*** should have her own game… I too like her for that, but she seems to radiate charm. (Accidentally put Tomomi before I edited)

Thanks for the tip on getting the first CG. I just figured I’d get it inside another route. Thank goodness for a skip feature. Wow… I hate myself for unlocking that CG. I forgot the premise of the first battle… I am so mad at myself now. I like that first CG only because it made me pissed… WHY!!! I’d have to reinstall now to get rid of it… Not sure if it is worth the effort…

Yeah, you can tell Rinka was the girl I was going to play for the first route no matter what.

Reinstalling my game now… I am dead serious too… I hope I don’t have to reload my saves to avoid game overs too much, this time. At least I can skip…

It could be just with the DL version. kyrt said he got both, but maybe as others arrive to talk about their DL versions an answer may arise.

So, I started to ACTUALLY play the game just to get some progress and see if my edits were properly implemented. They were. Now I’m taking a break, and going through all of Komachi’s scripts involving car info, and the battle scripts. I’ve found 3 major facepalm worthy name-changes…

Porsche → Lexington. This becomes a problem later on as the founder, Ferdinand Porsche is explicitly named. YOU GUYS TURNED A GERMAN INTO A BRIT, YOU IDIOTS!
The Evo VIII’s Active Yaw Control (AYC) → Active Yoke Control. Okay for this one, I’m more inclined to believe that this was a mistake rather than a forced name change.
Lotus Elise → (didn’t see the fake manufacturer name) Elite. Again, you’ve got a problem here, as there actually is a model of Lotus called the Elite.

EDIT: Oh man, get a load of this. I’ve found 3 scripts that are COMPLETELY untranslated. Apparently those scripts are for a pair of 3P scenes and one 4P scene. >_>

EDIT: Well, if there’s one thing I gotta give props to, just right under getting this to us in English in the first place, it’s the fact that they actually translated the chapter titles. I like that font they used.

Yeah the first cg is my least favorite and I just don’t think it fits. Sorry about that…tried to warn you cryptically but it seems as if it failed.

In regards to the name-changes I though they were jokes. Not a huge problem because I’m not much a car fanatic. I kind of doubt these people were either.

three scripts untranslated…shame.

I’m assuming you managed to fix the problem.

I wonder why they didn’t make komachi a character with a route in the game? They could of considering how often Akito sees her…hell isn’t she the first we see in the game? I suppose there’s always Blaze…and now I’m desperately hoping that my expected release for the game is worst-case-scenario.

three scripts untranslated…shame.

I’m assuming you managed to fix the problem.

My Japanese isn’t at a point where I could take a shot at translating those. Also, I do not have those apparent scenes unlocked in either the English or Japanese versions, so I have not gone through them. Trying to translate something without the context, not to mention the fact that it’s PORN, is practically impossible for me.

If the mods/admins let me, I’ll upload those three scripts for you guys to take a shot at.

the mods and admins haven’t posted anything in a few month good luck contacting them

i just figured out how the first and 2nd game are connected the tiger guy’s mother was rivals with Daikokuya Kyouko from the first game

That’s not all. I don’t know the full details, but one of the car profiles on the official site (JPN) is for a white Honda CR-X. The driver is listed as “Mirai Daichi”. Back when I first saw it, at least a year before MDN1 in English came out, I just brushed it off. But then I accidentally spoiled myself when I rooted around the CGs I had extracted from MDN2 in the process of doing those text correction/edits for MDN1.

Mirai is the daughter of Shou and Michi from the first game. Right now, I’m guessing (I only opened up the script for this bonus battle) that she invites you to their town for a race on Himeda pass.

EDIT: Oh for the love of god, please spell and grammar-check multiple times before releasing localizations! While I can fix the clerical errors along with the fake name in the script, I can do jack squat on stuff like this.
If I knew what controls text displayed here, in the movie list, and the BGM menu (which also has a clerical error), then I’d be happy to fix those errors for you guys. But I still don’t know what controls them.

just got the walkthrough from jast there is a komachi route after you beat the other
http://www.mediafire.com/?yan9cgk8j93xa0g

Wait wut!? That’s awesome…haven’t checked the walkthrough (going to see whether I can beat it without one…but will probably use it soon regardless)

Now to convince myself to play the game and completely beat it…been busy recently and still am until wednesday but maybe I could fit it in somewhere.

You’re gonna like it, at least from some of the CGs I got spoiled with.

And today in “Stupid Alterations”, we have…

Toyota Motor Co. becoming Toda

Am I to believe that an engine maker is now making cars!?

facepalm

EDIT: I fixed the lag issue, but I’m still left wondering why it didn’t happen in the JPN version. Anyway, the fix is to get MDN2 to run on only one CPU core.

EDIT: Okay, so I just crossed the halfway point on Ch6, where Akito appears in the new Elise 111R, and I finally understood why the hell the Capp is still around in Rinka’s ending (this is the route I completed in the JPN version). Goddamn, the English version is an eye-opener!

EDIT: Um guys, you seemed to have drop the ball on something that’s not car name related.
The scene in question is when Suzukaze starts talking about an old and heavily modified Suzuki Cappuccino of his own.

Here’s the original JPN text:

And this is what you put down, not including the corrected name.

Read the original again. He said “BORE UP”. This does not mean an engine change. It means he increased the displacement of the Capp’s inline-3 to 720cc either by boring out the cylinder walls to increase cylinder bore or installing a stoker kit to increase stroke, or both. As he didn’t say which method, I’m gonna assume a bore out, unless someone who knows their cars and engines can tell me that it ain’t happening, or it would require both methods. Here’s what I put down for my correction.

Note that I used the acronymed form of “Brake Horsepower” so that that sentence doesn’t cause a box break (text going outside the confines of the box).

Here’s another one (original).

And here’s what you guys put down:

By literally translating the line, you guys made the first sentence nonsensical to those not in the know. Obviously, it’s impossible to go around this 2km circuit (give or take 100meters) in under 10 seconds.

Now the way lap times of this circuit are talked about, especially those close to a minute but above, is that the “minute” is simply dropped and only the seconds figure is given in conversations. If you’re told that someone ran a 5 on this circuit, he means he ran it in just over or under 1 minute and 5 seconds. So, Suzukaze saying a 10sec time means he had a time of 1 minute and 10 seconds.

Highly interesting. Glad someone cares enough so that we can see and understand all this.

Maybe in the future there will be patches for the games. Still I like it despite its errors and nonsensical additions or comments.

Yeah, I’m not a car fanatic, so when I was trying to find what an espresso was I eventually just searched for cappuccino as the voices said. I can get hardcore car fans being bugged out by it, but it didn’t bother me, although, this game has made me interested in car games. I’m getting a bit excited for Gran Turismo 5 thanks to Downhill and already practicing with another game in the series. Thanks for the explanations.

rinka has one of the worst sex voices ever

i just figured out how the first and 2nd game are connected the tiger guy’s mother was rivals with Daikokuya Kyouko from the first game

I actually got something to add to this, and maybe clue you guys in on how to get Episode 11 if you missed it.

Anyway, that spoiler I gave up there? It’s not entirely correct. Episode 11 involved Akito and co. going to Himeda to investigate the legendary taxis, and I think that’s only triggered if you asked Shuuji for info on Seiya and the Daikokuya family in episode 8. I don’t know yet, but that’s my theory. The commands and triggers in the scripts can be confusing at times.

I am not sure if what I will say activates it, but on my first play through on Rinka’s route I didn’t get that episode. When I reinstalled my game and loaded my data that survived the reinstall, with that same data after battling Seiryuu - I some how was qualified for it. It was rather strange, but even on my full-skip play through I saw that episode. I think it has to do with choosing enough correct racing options. I am probably wrong, but on my very first play through I never reloaded unless I picked a game-over choice, but when I reloaded to always pick the best choices (on that last battle prior) I had the extra. As I said, I did a skip play through as well and always reloaded until I did the correct choice during all battles and I saw the extra on it then too.

Actually you just have to beat the game to get episode 11. The only requirement is to beat it once on any route.

Currently playing reiko’s route and am finding it a bit refreshing. Not often that you see her type of character in any of the current english games…the butler though I think is what is making the route enjoyable. Nice change.

I got a little distracted and still am only halfway through tomomi’s route…still have 2 in a half left to go.

Oh jeez, now that I actually look at the battle scripts more closely, there are some translation issues. Granted I would usually turn a blind eye to some of the commands (some of them being referential and occasionally funny, like the mario kart or Back to the Future references you guys put in the first one). I’ve comes across something that’s seriously wrong.
Here’s something from the Elise vs RX-8 battle. (Episode 9)
Original

What you guys put

What it SHOULD say (rough translation)

And since ep11 requires a game completion, and I had already completed Rinka’s route in the JPN version, I’m gonna edit my copy of the script package to force ep11 to trigger.

EDIT: Recall when I said 3 scripts were untranslated? Well, they actually are, but some reason, JAST made copies of the originals, renamed them and left them in the package. What’s up with that.
