Just curious, but as giant robot themed stuff goes, what category does the Demonbane series fall into? Evangelion category (basically anime like RahXephon or Fafner), Old School category (anime like Getter Robo or Voltron), or Gundam category?

If by “herorines” (sic.), you mean “women with a route and an ending”, no, there are only three: Azifu, Ruri and Raika. OTOH, there are more than three “important” women in the story (and even more men --surprise!): at least Ennea, Elsa, Lady Etheldreda and Nya.

Any comments from our resident Azifu specialist? Does the profile meet specifications?
Well, I could say that there are many other things you could tell about Azifu because she’s so many things and even more (but then, it’s the case for many, including the originally damsel-in-distress-ojousama Ruri, with mayhap the exception of Raika but it may just be because I didn’t like neither her nor her story), but that should be left in after-gaming comments. As a overview profile that cannot give out too much, the page isn’t too bad --and more detailed than the Japanese page!
…oh, and in case, it never was obvious, “Al” is her official affective name (and the one Kurou uses). “Azifu” is my personal affective calling for her. 
i will most likely work on al’s path last because i know here basic story from watching the anime
who would people that played the game recommend for the first heroine to complete

Considering you’ve already decided to go on Azifu’s route last, there are only two choices. ^^;;;;;
As such, I’d recommend going after Ruri then Raika.

but in the english version i think they are use Leica instead of raika
I think he can be forgiven, seeing as he didn’t play the English version.
