Large update about future releases from MangaGamer

I wonder how there could be missing CGs…
Can’t they play the jap game, and do a print screen to get those “missing” CGs ?

they might use the censored cg’s from the ps2 version

That…actually seems fairly reasonable, if this is indeed a result of censorship. Mix and match the 2 versions rather than simply cut out scenes, leaving a void. I guess we’ll find out at the end of December.

who is the protagonist of soul link
Shuuhei or Ryouta

There are three protagonists, one for each chapter.

Ryouta is the ‘main’ protagonist in that you get to control him for longer than the other two, though. He’s the one that gets to H most of the heroines too.

I also consider that chapter the worst chapter in the game <_<;

Yeah, that sounds pretty much right =P

who is the third protagonist

That’s a spoiler, wait and play the game to find out.

So is this game kind of like Desire?

Update on the Soul Link matter from Mangagamer’s official forum:

good to know i hope they say what the deal with the cg’s are

Mangagamer gets a staff blog: http://mangagamer.wordpress.com/2009/12/02/10/#comments

The poster is Kouryuu, the same guy that made the post on the forum I quoted in my last post. He’s also the translator that worked on Soul Link.

Bad news, folks:

According to EvoSpace:

"I will post the situation with them here because its taking them too long to simply update the news.
(They are currently running around in a frenzy trying to put Higurashi into shape so I can’t blame them… >.<)

The CGs removed are indeed Nanami’s. A total of 6.
It was decided in their last meeting that they will remove CGs showing arguably underaged characters naked out of the games. Of course the most threatening is the United States child pornography law, but they are dealing with the world here.
There will be an actual person who will be imprisoned if this goes in the wrong way, and surely affect their future releases, and worst case this whole project will be gone. It is a risk they couldn’t take and it was a difficult decision for them as well.

Of course, no part of the storyline will be removed. Also, since it is difficult to go back and fix games that were already released for fairness’s sake, they are just doing this to their future releases.

At least they are telling us ahead of time before you make the purchase.
As for now, that’s all I can say…"

It looks like this has come true (0:08 to 0:30):

If this is true, just how much of Koihime Musou is going to be censored?

6 CGs makes sense, if they mean counting base + differentials. That would be one CG of Nao having a shower with Nanami, two CGs of Nanami, naked, leaning over Ryouta, two CGs of Nanami having a shower with Ryouta and the hilarious ‘bad end*’ CG =P

I guess by ‘no part of the storyline will be removed’ they’re just going to replace the CGs with blackness.

*it’s not a bad end itself, but IIRC it forces a bad end upon you. Just as you think you’re about to H Maki Idzumi’s character, bam =P

I give up.

Alright, I give up.

What the hell do you people want?

MangaGamer have informed you, in advance, of censorship changes. The whole complaint about the Kazoku Keikaku business was behind the fact that buyers weren’t warned in advance of the changes, right?

They’ve got CGs that their legal body has determined would be unsafe to show, so they’ve opted to remove them as opposed to

  1. redacting the product entirely, or
  2. offering the game as is and threatening to bring themselves legal harm.

What do you want MangaGamer to do?

If it’s 1, why the hell do you want that? You don’t have to buy the game. You know exactly what’s going to be changed if you do choose to buy it. The only people you’re going to affect are people who still legitimately want to buy the game, that think Soul Link is worth more than a few CGs of loli content, and for what? Because you think it’s ethically wrong to censor it? Come on.

If it’s 2, well, reposting this from the thread on the Gemot:

And no, don’t bother bringing up Koihime Musou - they haven’t even said that they’re doing anything about that yet. Complain when they do say something. For a number of reasons Koihime Musou is rather safer than Soul Link is-- the more exaggerated art style and the body proportions in comparison to the other characters, as well as the whole “story” thing that tends to get in the way. Wait until they confirm the changes to be made to Koihime Musou, if any, before crying ‘landmine’.

Fair enough, at least we know what to expect. I never really cared about a couple of missing/altered CGs anyway.

I have to agree with Lancer_X here… you moan and complain when Peter failed to inform us of the censorship in KK and begged to be informed of such censorship befoe sale. So Mangagamer informs its customers of said censorship (or missing CGs at least) and you still bitch…?

It really is not these companies’ fault that they have to bend over backward to ensure they don’t ever cross ever-changing the line set by the pathetic standards “ordained” by the US gov’t for such material. If you want to complain, protest against an overbearing gov’t that creates this situation.
