Okay here's a bit of a review on the game, though this is based on going through 54% percent of the game thus far.
@tim I actually liked how Otome was portrayed in Shiny Days, as overall despite how hostile she is to Katsura in School days and in one route actually convinces Taisuke to erm... rape Katsura under the pretences of shy girls liking it rough, which if you know your Japanese porn context is a common kink, which someone as stupid as Taisuke would take to be true in real life. Otome behaviour is more due to her girl posse egging her on and the fact according to her backstory her dad sleeps around and her mum goes around threatening the people he sleeps with. Along with the fact she is jealous of her sister more developed tract of lands. Leads her to hate Katsura solely on the basis she see's her irrationally as a temptress. Same reason she picks on Roka in Cross Days because her mum who cameos in a few places in Shiny Days had an affair with her dad.
So it makes her more abrasive traits more understandable, not excusable of course. Now in Shiny Days she isn't around her posse and Katsura for the most part, so it makes some sense that she is softer and shyer, since she's like around Makoto when it's just the two anyway, plus it shows how her sister is more straight forward in pursuing Makato compared to Otome's shy crush that has gotten her nowhere throughout the years she has known Makoto.
It's like that with Setsuna's portrayal as well, because she isn't around Sekai and her friends for the most part in Shiny Days, we get to see a different side to her and that she is quite innocent, sweet and shy in a few ways compared to some of the other girls, as well that when Sekai isn't around for her to give way to, she is sympathetic to others quite a bit.
This helps I feel to deepen some of the school days characters and show them in different contexts, same with Makoto when he is around his sister. He comes off more mature and responsible around her, plus I liked his more gadfly personality in the game, though of course he's still sprinkled with his oh so ever classic denseness. Along with being a real dick at one point to Setsuna in act four concerning her father that I really wanted to punch Makoto for that.
Whom if you know your stuff from the Overflow universe, is actually hem... the father of a few other girls in the School Days series, and related to Makoto I believe. This chart gives some details http://overflow.wikia.com/wiki/File:Official_Family_Tree.jpg.
Shiny Days has a lot of references to other games in Overflow's universe that I liked and also had one or cameo's from characters in Cross Days as well.
As some of the mothers in the series were in pervious Overflow games like the Summer and Snow Radish, knowing this stuff can make some of the context and dialogue in Shiny Days more clear and also might change your view in some stuff in the series as well.
The whole series and Overflow universe as Tvtropes put's it is a deconstruction of the Harem genre in a few ways, well the Anime certainty is, though sometimes I get the sense it's a bit of a stealth parody as well, though either way Overflow and Stack knew very well what they were doing with the series of both School Days and the Radish games and others as well.
Thought the Inori route was interesting enough, liked how it gave a bit of Makoto's childhood to us, along with hinting a lot to his dad, whom if you know he is a major character in pervious overflow games, is a massive twat on levels even anime Makoto never reached (though the manga Cross Days Makoto comes pretty close to his level). Plus once you know who he is, it actually makes it a lot more clear why Itaru doesn't want to go back to him and why Makoto hates him.
Also liked the details on Makoto's history with Yamagata and how it seems to have affected him along with what we see of one of his friends mentioned in School Days by Otome.
Inori herself had some hilarious moments and got given enough of a background to carry her story.
The Twins H scenes I thought were nicely done with each twin acting differently in seducing Makoto. The Karen and Otome end was just hilarious in Makoto's beat up face, same with Setsuna kicking the shit out of Makoto in another ending, along with whipping him in a different one.
I liked how Shiny Days portrayed the main girl's mothers and how they interact with each other compared to how their daughters interact with each other. Youko was a joy on a few levels and I can see where Sekai gets some of her traits from.
Shiny Days overall is fab to play and I'm only half way through it, mostly got the Katsura routes to go through, but waiting on the Patches first just to make sure. That and as well playing other games like MGS V and Until Dawn.
It is worth all the hassle that has come up with the release of Shiny Days and it's a must for any who always liked the idea of Setsuna and Makoto being together. or if your just a fan of the School Days series.

@mike rogers I Agree on Setsuna pretty much being the protagonist along with Makoto. Since she gets I think more scenes and focus than Makoto does for the most part, expect all choices still get decided via Makoto. Wait there's an yaoi end in Shiny Days who with?

@Arrakis my pleasure, glad you liked the review of half the game. Oh I can do more to tempt you to play the game now . Like how Makoto somehow in two minutes of meeting Mai is making out with her and nearly get's caught in the act, or how he ends up in one ending being stuck in the middle between Youko and Manami at Radish, or how Youko deals with Sekai catching her and Makoto at one point.

Just fetched my LE. Looks like the bonus strap I got is Sekai in her waitress outfit? Though honestly the little chibi could pass for Setsuna too.
I played Cross Days a year and a half ago and it was an interesting experience. In a lot of ways it was a mess, but it still kept me enthralled for several days. I'm thinking about whether I should give the Radish series a try.

upper has the fewest ends [i am not sure if setsuna is winable on upper]
lower has most of the ends including setsuna
The outfit affects absolutetly nothing in the game, the first 2 choices you are given leads you to the top route or bottom, wich are: ­ I want to make lots of memories, leads you to the bottom part wich is the one with most routes you can check the routes in the load menu, the other choice ­ I want to go somewhere, leads you to the top side which has inori and some other side characters like noan.
