Refresh my memory, Lamuness...

“Scooby doo, where are you?”

“Rover Rere!”

Scooby Doo SUCKS!!!

Tom and Jerry RULE!!! Expecially Tom, he’d kick the arse out of Scooby Doo any day!!!

C’mon guys, why this useless battle? Everyone here knows that most sucks. Probably new ones don’t suck that much, but wonder why there is a demand for anime, lately?

Thanks. Long story as to why I hadn't been on in a few weeks. Actually, this thread happened while I was gone and it was already up to 6 pages. I'm still trying to follow what the heck is going on...

Let's not freak out any Japanese viewers here!
Note after watching Anime I just can't watch American stuff any more for entertanment.
PS. "Fly me the moon' is a song I need to get once I get my Tube stereo. Notice how today most stereos are not Hi-Fi. Most stuff
only goes down to about 100 HZ. Hi-Fi goes down to 20 HZ.

I agree about that. Most American stuff is very dull if compared to anime.

Hmm, now I'm trying to remember what non-anime ones I've watched recently. (Now that I finally got that DVD-ROM drive, I watch even less television than before.) The only ones that come to mind is some of the DC or Marvel animated series, but that's probably because I'm a fan of the comic series themselves.

Ok, some american stuff might be good enough to give some entertainment, but I don’t like the whole “endless” thing, if you know what i mean

No I don't know what you mean. If you mean like Giligan's Island where they are stuck
forever on the Island, I tend to agree. From what little I have seen of Japanese Anime the characters grow in the stories or just be short one-off events that have a short time frame. While some shows, mostly kids educational stuff need to stay the same, most other stories don't need to be in a time warp.
Speaking of Time warps here is a nice site on old saturday morning commercials.

no, no… I meant that american comics seems to go on forever, if you know what I mean; other comic creators can create their own parts of another comic creaters series, and in the case of most series, it seems like they never end either… I mean, look at Japanese manga; some might be long, but you know that someday, the creator will writte a “The End” int he end, for the better or worse, but with american comics, it’s different, they goes on for what seem sliek forever, and you often lose the track of where they were originally going…

I think SB is talking about shows that ends up like re-runs with no real ending. For anime example, it will end in 20-30 episodes and that’s it, basta. For many american stuff (especially for cartoons and maybe sitcoms), it tends to go on and on with no real direction and there seems to have no end to it.

Exactly.

I think this true more on the part that the original comics like Superman really did not have story line thought up when it was created. I like funny comics like B.C. or The wizard of Id or Archie rather than the action adventure comics. Most comics focus on Super Power or Super Evil rather than ordinary things and that gets too repetitve. To quote a line from the animated series "Back to the future", How many times are we doomed in one day".Spiderman & Fantastic Four at least had semi-normal lives the same can't be said for others.
BTW Are you sure Dragon Ball Z ends?

Well, even so, I’m very skeptic towards most american stuff

I’m not interested in the Dragonball Z series, so I don’t know. I’m more interested in the Dragonball manga (the Dragonball manga is one of the few mangas that has been translated into Swedish here).

This brings up a good point.
Just what manga and anime have been translated into other langauges than english?

I know that a lot of anime has been translated into spanish for Mexico. They don’t seem to translate manga though.
