Thank you. I’d much prefer tasteful pack-ins to blatant pandering. I thought Aksys’ marketing and bonuses for the Record of Agarest War “Very Naughty Edition” were flat-out insulting. I wasn’t impressed when I heard that one of the Shuffle DVDs included a pair of Sia’s panties as a preorder bonus, either. And, to be honest, both of the mouse pads linked to in this topic make me feel a little queasy… Reducing a character, fictional or otherwise, to an object like that just doesn’t sit well with me.
A T-shirt sounds like a decent idea, but I’d advise against printing anything that could be considered a spoiler. Sure, many of us are familiar with at least one incarnation of the story, but please be considerate to the guys and girls who aren’t. Keychains, cards, or bookmarks like what were included with Little My Maid or Crescendo would be nice as well. Whatever you decide, though, I’m sure we’d all appreciate if you kept us in the loop (especially if your budget forces you to choose one over another).
There’s a difference between a story that includes characters having sex and one that’s only about sex. I, for one, prefer the former by a very wide margin. And if, for instance, netting a pair of panties or a pillowcase means we won’t be getting an artbook, I’d much rather have the artbook (and I’m sure I’m not the only one who agrees).
I agree that the “18+ Multi-Path Animated Visual Novel” tag is a misnomer; an interactive anime isn’t a visual novel by any means since there’s no descriptive prose. The “novel” part unfortunately has to go…
It seems that someone had fun with the Engrish in the original game’s tag line:
“In the school, the three guys met. Their relation had been changed in the season, and turned into three love stories.”
I wouldn’t be embarrassed if someone saw the case of a game in my room. I would, however, be embarrassed if they saw I use those specialized mouse pads. I’m not against extras or anything I just wonder if it is necessary. The super hardcore guys already have oppai mouse pads and all.
I’d love a T-shirt. I’d like something I’d actually use, not something I’d hide in my closet or look at once in the case of an art book. That is if the T shirt is tasteful - nothing extreme. In either case, if a game can be released at a lower cost without extras I am for that.
Getting a combo like you mentioned would be really cool with an art book and figurine. I would still like a mouse pad though but a normal one or as normal as a school days mouse pad can be without getting that disgusting looking one or a pillow case would be cool I think.
Bloodied cleaver prop would be cute, but you have to be careful with stuff like that. EA accidentally sent out a press kit containing some very illegal items … in certain states. Oops.
I think the panties would be a hoot. Don’t feel too strongly about any of the other extras, although that mouse pad was kind of creepy. Maybe there should be a poll when you’ve narrowed down your options a bit.
There’s always that USB device that Overflow released for Cross Days originally but presumably also works with School Days HQ, although it would probably be better to sell that separately because I can see it being tasteless to many people.
Probably a little pricey for a bonus, isn’t it? But I bet that could be rather useful for people who have wrist problems and still want to enjoy their games!
Yeah, that’s why I think it would be better as a separate product. Difficult to anticipate demand for this sort of thing, but maybe JAST could just pass the orders along to Overflow at first instead of stocking them directly.
with everyone (in this thread) having their own thoughts on the extras, how much are you guys willing to pay for a Limited Edition of this title? an extra US$ 30? (taking it to about US$ 70 + Shipping?).
fujifruit, the art book can have better graphics then the VN, don’t forget that this is an animated VN. So I’ll assume that the quality of its art book should be comparable to an anime art book. Note, I never saw a School/Summer/Cross Days art book, this is just an assumption from my side.
Or we could get the extra “Kotonoha’s saw/knife”, I remember seeing it before, a knife with School Days printed on it. Creepy, I know, but less creepy then the oppi/butt pad.
I for one would vote for hardcover art book + poster. A sound track might be liked by others and including it won’t hurt, but I don’t listen to music, so i won’t miss it. A pillow cover won’t hurt as well, but I won’t miss it either.
If panties are included, then the will meet the same fate as the panties I got with KissxSis BD… a short trip to the rubbish bin.
a final note on the limited edition… should it never come about… then i won’t miss it, I’ll get the regular edition.
earlier in the thread there is a reference to a scene that might troubling (haven’t seen it). If JAST/Overflow decide that they need to add a warning to questionable and/or sex scenes (for whatever reason  ), may I suggest a notices that slide from the right side of the screen, remain for 5 seconds then it slide away! The notice is enabled by default, but the user can turn it off from the options.
sorry, bad English, I meant as in opening it and seeing how the graphics is on the inside, I am just making an assumption on how the graphics might look like. Otherwise, yes, I know that there is an art book, I don’t expect them to make a new one for the international release, just to translated an existing one.
