So how many here watch anime and read manga

It’s probably normal. I know that over the years my brain tends to make those types of connections spontaneously more and more. Like recognizing an art or music style immediately on your exposure to a new piece. Just your brain exercising all the knowledge you gain. I mean, where else are you going to use it? On the 'Name that Seiyuu!'gameshow?

Well, I actually found a seiyuu database where you can waste more time matching voices with names, if you like.

Nah, that's alright. I don't want to give in to my various psychosis more than I need to. Thanks for the link though...

Interesting link, sort of like name that song and actually it is fun in some sort of hard to explain way.

Waffo! Watched Sugar over the weekend. Except, now I just can’t imagine what the storyline for the sequel will be. And I really like how they finally explained what happened all those years ago with Saga. Definitely a series I can sit down and watch with my friend’s kids someday before I start twisting their minds to my evil purposes. blink I sure hope none of them read this…

How much will you pay for me Not to tell them? Hand over that DVD now since I still don't have my copy or else...
I can't imagine what a new story line for Sugar could be too because this story is so great and how could you do better?

Hmm…are you guys talking about the summer special? If you are then I won’t be too spoilerish but say it’s not too hard

I am talking about the regular series.

Waffo! Ai Yori Aoshi Enishi’s slated for a July 6th release! While that may be far off, at least I have the Sugar Summer Special to look forward to. And while I do know the story to the special, it still makes me feel a little sad knowing the ending of the series.

I know it is going to be sad, what ever way Sugar ends

Well, I was refering to a new series I had read about somewhere, where Saga, Greta and the others are slightly older, 17 or so. I'm pretty sure this is different from the special since I heard that was set near the time of the original television series. Hmm, I knew I forgot something. Wanted to look up where I read about the thing...

Hmm…I thought that was the special oh well I’m probably wrong. Well I’m almost done watching Rahexphon but I still have no idea what’s going on.

*shrug* I could be wrong myself. But the synopsis on AoD mentions that it happens "back when Sugar was still an apprentice Snow Fairy". So the story with the kids being older has to be either a different special or series than the Summer Special. I'll have to see if I can remember where the heck I read up on it...

Hmm, now that I finally got Sugar, I need to hunt down Angelic Layer and Pretear. Drove around most of the island and couldn't find them last week. That's so annoying...

Apparently, the characters are older but a lot of the episodes is Saga remembering the past. Also it is a series of specials (which I assume were OVAs but they could easily have been aired on TV) - so there are 3. It’s not a second season or anything.

I have yet to finish the whole of the show myself. I like it, but it’s currently starving.

Well tonights line up was Sugar , Pretear, and Someday's Dreamer.
Now that I am done crying at the ending of Sugar, I can say Pretear and Angelic Layer are turing into average Anime. Someday's dreamer has potential to have very good stories and plot development.

PS. The fact that Sugar is a full season ANIME really lets you know the characters well as compared to 1/2 Season ones.

I have heard some people compare the ending of Sugar to the type of emotional pull of Kana, without saying too much is that a fair comparison?

Also I have seen a lot of the Angelic Layer anime recently at some of the local video game stores as well as Sam Goody and Suncoast . However, I am not sure if that is just the mall I know of where even the food court seems to have a place selling some of that manga or if that anime is quietly becoming that popular in this area.

Hmm, yup I was confused about Sugar. Did some searching online and found out I wasn’t the only one though. In the Newtype USA September issue, they mention that a new Sugar special will be “airing in Japan this summer”. I (and a lot of others) took it to mean this comming summer (2004) when it actually meant this past summer (2003). That’s why I thought it was a separate thing.

Glad you finally got your copy of Sugar woodelf-san. I do agree that Pretear and Angelic Layer are actually more average than outstanding. I’m still enjoying them though. Hmm, wonder if I should pick up volumes 4 & 5 of Full Metal Panic and make a marathon of it over the weekend…

Hmm, I don’t think I can compare the ending of Sugar’s emotional pull to the one in Kana. Not because they don’t have the same pull, but it just feels like I’m trying to compare two completely different things. shrug That’s just my opinion.

I think they ** too ** are both different to compare. Both how ever have strong emotional endings, and think Kana - little sister is the most emotional sad ending.Sugar is the most bitter/sweet ending I seen in a long time.

Ok so has anyone seen somedays dreamer yet? I’m contemplating getting this during Rightstuf’s geneon sale. Anyone want to give an impression

Someday’s is a very subdued show. It’s like an afternoon drama. One of those shows designed to soothe the mind, body, and soul. It’s a nice relaxing way to spend an afternoon. So far, I’ve enjoyed it.
