She has long manga, lets leave it at that.
Since I don't have cable for TV , I have no idea what anime you are refuring to. Inu Yasha most likely but since it is still being broadcast in japan ( about 109 episodes so far , manga 350? chapters and still being written ) who know when it will finish.

Yeah that is the one I was thinking of, geez that is a very long manga and anime series.

That I have no clue it's still way to early to predict how long this will be. But if it remains popular and Ken still enjoys doing this story I can easily see this going on for more than 14 vols. Especially since you have to figure he has alot of gir...err materials to work with

The more anime you've seen, the funnier it is because you get a lot of the inside jokes and references. Anyway, for anybody who's seen it, there's a scene when they introduce the new member and they mention the names Hiromi and Takaya. Anybody know where those names come from?

Haven't seen this yet but I hear it's a great show especially if your into the anime fandom. Another good otaku anime is Otaku no video although a little old but it does delve pretty deep into anime fandom.

But what if you didn't read their origional post. Or the post is lost in the ether of the bbs I also know a few people who are 1 finger typers because they never learned how to type. Are they dumb lamers? Not eveyrone can type 100 words per minute. I usually let things slide with grammar and spelling, god knows I'm not the best speller in the world.

Almost all of Rumiko Takahashi's series are extremely long. Ranma was 7 seasons of anime, and 36-38 vols of manga. Maison is 15 or so vols of manga, with 96 eps. Inu Yasha her latest work is also really long haven't been keeping track but it should be close to 40 vols of manga now. She does have a few shorts but I can't remember the names at this moment.

There is the Mermaid saga - that's only a few volumes. And then there is the Rumic World collection, which is a bunch of short stories that, among possible others, were the source for the Fire Tripper OVA.

Watched the Happy Lesson OVA DVD last night. Kinda odd trying to figure out what was different between the 1st OVA episode and the 1st TV episode.

They can mention it again. Or if you want to get really anal, stick it in their footer.

Doesn't matter how fast they type. Patience is a virtue. You should always make an effort to type properly. Why else do we go to school, among other things?

Ranma 1/2 is 34 volumes.

Yeah the first ova episode and the 1st tv episode is extrememly similar. The one thing I didn't like about the TV was how they just plopped in Chitose's sisters in ep 4. It almost looked like the creator thought giving him a couple of sisters would be a good idea after they made the first 3 episodes.

*shrug* wouldn't be the first time an anime did that. Or manga. Heck, even some regular television shows suddenly pull relatives out of their hats...

Hmm, I'm not entirely sure but I'm guessing the OVA came out first and the television 1st episode was just a re-cut of it. It does explain a few odd thoughts I had when I first watched the television episode. For instance, I always sort of wondered what Chitose was doing with that little pocket thing that had the teachers listed. I know it made sense as part of the introduction but it always seemed odd to me that Chitose would have such a thing and be looking at it when he'd been living with his mamas for awhile. Of course the big question that I have that still isn't answered..."what's up with (I think it's student "C") his ears?"

Hmm, my Kaleido Star order finally came in. Wonder when I'll get a chance to watch that. Shesh, don't the people at work know that I have anime that desperately needs to be watched. I can't be doing this work related stuff all the time...

They added some scenes or minor bridges between scenes and changed the order of a few scenes but beyond that there is not much different between the 1st OVA episode and the 1st TV episode.

I am curious how you like the series, I have only seen the first one that came free with one of the Newtype magazines and it looks like it could be very good. Yet without knowing anything but the reviews in a magazine that gave me a free copy of the disc, perhaps not the best source for unbiased review if there is such a thing, it is just something I would like to hear more opinions on if anyone else has seen more then the first show?

Yeah the OVA came first then the TV series in Japan. ADV just had it backwards and released the TV series first then the OVAs.

So if anyone releases the next incarnation it will also be ADV?

They seem to be releasing a lot of the, personal opinion, but “future and present classics” based on those seen and other opinions read, whereas at the same time, most of the other companies that are releasing seem to have one or two the reviewers typically read like and more that are stumbled across which seem to be releases that are are slightly to highly and perhaps rightly bashed for editing done to shows released.

Though perhaps not entirely the DVD releasing companies fault, Funimation, and more the fault of the station that was going to release the show first a good example is Detective Conan/Case Close whichever title you prefer and the editing of the names which has been highly and rightly criticized.

No offense SCDawg, but sometimes I find it awfully difficult to parse your text.

The company that has me most worried right now is VIZ. They own the rights to Maisson Ikkoku and recently released eps 1-36 in three box sets. Five more sets are needed to complete the series, however, and I’ve been unable to find confirmation anywhere on the Net that they will finish the job. The problem is that only the first nine volumes were previously dubbed. If sales don’t justify it, they may not get around to doing the rest. That would be a case where the need to dub really hurts fans. It might even lead people to consider importing the pirated HK subs.

I'll let you know. I probably won't have time to watch it till the weekend. But from most of what I've seen written about it, people like it. And for some reason, I like the Op song. A good way to hook me into an anime is giving me a song that I like to hear!

I do kinda wonder why ADV released the TV episodes of Happy Lesson then the OVA. I thought those OVA episodes would have been a good setup for the TV storyline. Oh well, not like it was my decision...

It would have made a lot more sense especially with the "younger sister" where from the OVA the relationship and her feelings, that are directly hinted at but never actually said in the TV series, are made crystal clear.

I kind of figured that was something about what was going on, but just adding that one episode to the television series, or showing the OVA first, before her introduction as it was in the television series would have made a lot more sense of many things especially toward their relationship.

I’m worried about Maison Ikkoku too but I have a little more faith in Viz. I think MI did well enough that they’ll release the rest of the series. The next boxset will probably take a while since they would need to create a dub for it since they don’t have a dub for this yet. So I would think it will take a while longer for the next boxset to come out.

Don’t know but I think if they released the OVA first they wouldn’t have all these misguided people complaining they edited the series when the first TV disc came out
