I’m wondering now as well… it would be nice if they would tell those of us that did get it early, what the problem is… As I said I didn’t run into any bugs…
Peach Princess learned very early on to keep their mouth shut; when they were brand new, they had their own similar faux pas. Little My Maid and Slave Bazaar being the main ones that come to mind (one game took several years longer than anticipated, the other eventually had to be cancelled). But they learned REAL fast to shut up and release as little information as possible – I think PP might have even issued release dates at first, then announced they were ending the practice.
Peach Princess only announces a game is done when it has gone gold master. Apparently MangaGamer is set up so that when the pre-entered ‘release date’ for a game hits, it automatically becomes available – leading to people buying prerelease copies by mistake!
Hint: If testing isn’t done, there is no release date.
$85…? How? It was only around $70 at the exchange rate at that time (and only about $65 now).
And if you don’t notice any problems, does it matter if they say it’s broken? It runs perfectly fine and you wouldn’t have known it was “broke” if they hadn’t said anything.
This is just a guess, but they might be referring to the speed of visual effects (such as rainfall, falling leaves/petals, etc.). Since the game was ported to an entirely new engine, it’s possible that some features weren’t properly implemented.
They already announced that if you purchased the game on Christmas you would be allowed to download it again for free (an extra download and an extra activation). I do have to give credit where credit’s due, and say they are in fact trying. They’re just doing a terrible job, but they ARE trying.
Seasons of the Sakura had a bug where one of the special effects that it used was extremely flaky. It would have a tendency to hang, causing the game to have a lot of problems when the effect failed to operate properly. This would manifest itself with hangups at various points, and the sakura petals on the main screen not animating like they were supposed to.
Something like this could easily be unnoticeable except under certain conditions (like where the user just happens to hit an input key at exactly the wrong moment, the game’s internal state gets corrupted) so it’s possible that you would never see it.
I just guessed, I didn’t have my credit card statement to look at. I’m terrible with converting anyway, since the Euro is kicking the crap out of the USD, I just figure it’s best to over estimate then to look up my cc statement.
Yea, but I can honestly say this translation was no where near as bad as Edelweiss…
Um… the USD is kicking the crap out of the euro, not the other way around. 50 euro was about $90 when the game was first announced, and now it’s about $65.
And I just looked up the exact exchange rates, and the USD is kicking the crap out of both the euro and the GBP. The euro and the GBP are almost equal now.
Too bad I can’t say the same about the USD and the yen.
Which girl should I choose? - $25.9561 USD
My sex slave is a classmate - $38.9605 USD
Edelweiss - $32.4562 USD
Tasty Shafts - $25.9561 USD
Shera, My Witch - $51.9642 USD
Da Capo - $64.9715 USD
Suck my dick or die! - $38.9585 USD
Sandwiched by my wife and her sister - $25.9561 USD
Suika A.S+ - $64.9997 USD
The Queen and Princess as your rewards - $51.9867 USD
Suika and D.C cost the most at $65 rounded up.
Hinatabokko and Sandwhiched are the cheapest at $26 rounded up.
Still… the USD is worth less than what the Euro is worth is what I was getting at. According to xe.com you get 30 cent less when you trade 1 USD to 1 Euro.
I should have never bought this game… does anyone know whether they fixed the translation errors or if it’s still as bad as when it came available?
Um… comparing absolute values isn’t really helpful at signing how strong currency is. If you go by that, you could say we’re really kicking the crap out of Japan with $1 = 89 yen. Comparing change in relative values is the best easy way to compare how currency is doing. The euro has fallen a lot recently in that regard, so the USD is doing better. The yen has been doing well, so the exchange rate is getting worse for Americans (but by your method, we’re still kicking their ass!).
Yay, did you play the one that was originally released with the terrible translations? shudder, I agree the USD is doing much much better, trust me I took a vacation to Europe and had to trade almost double the amount of USD to get a decent amount of Euro. I think at one time the exchange was something like 1.60 USD per 1 Eur.
